9494 and 9495 are available at lego.com now:

http://shop.lego.com/de-DE/Anakin-s-Jedi-Interceptor-9494

http://shop.lego.com/de-DE/Gold-Leader-s-Y-Wing-Starfighter-9495

And it appears to me that Lego has improved the quality of the new building instructions available for download; 9494 has 59.49 MB.

edit:

Hm. Curiously, I can't download any instructions (SW) right now. Not sure if it actually was meant for download.

The Y-Wing is €49,95 in the German LEGO shop, while in the Dutch LEGO shop it's €59,95? For Anakins Starfighter it's €5,- more.

Also, in 2009, we got the Brickmaster-exclusive CTT, and then in 2010 we got the System CTT. So, if TLG is considering a CW-era MTT, I say go ahead! :sweet: Especially if it follows the example of the last version and has about 14 droids.

I agree that we do need an MTT again (the last one was in my Dark Ages) but I hope it isn't a CW era (I definitely prefer the more realistic PT colors over the CW era colors.)

What do you mean by "realistic"?

In real life, a military would be more likely to paint their troop transports brown instead of dark blue and grey.

Not that Star Wars has ever really stuck to realistic coloring. (the problem is more common in the PT than the OT, but still)

Less Clone Wars like

Do you not think we're gonna stand out a bit here?... by smokebelch, on Flickr

Ahem anyways back on topic  Gotta say im very much liking all the new sets this year.

Have to say there wasn't much that interested me in 2011, but most of the 2012 sets im gonna get. The new Tie (which i've just build) really is beautiful, and a lovely selection of minifigs. Really love the new Sandtroopers too. The new Astromech R5 head is so nice-

And while not the huge set that it perhaps could have been, really like the look of Jabbas Palace. Some excellent new figs, nice to see that it appears to be a completly new sculpt for Jabba (when we could have just got the old one with print), new printed Gamorrean, Booshh, and hopefully a Jabba goon (would be so happy if its Ree Yees!). And im sure that somewhere down the line we will get a Rancor Pit- given how well the Star Wars Lego line does i'd be really suprised not to see it at some point. I'd bet that we will get a new Sailbarge as well at some point, given the new sculpt Jabba they are gonna want to use him in a few sets at least.

CW is pretty much the thing that makes money these days, and by my watch, TPM really sucked. The droid vehicles are okay, but they just don't match up to the ones in TCW in terms of creativity. Besides, I will not tolerate another army-building droid set with Jar-Jar!

I agree. I'd love to see a CW based MTT, not just because it's more creative and would work better for parts as you said, but the mini-figure selection would be better, instead of same old droids, and would be a great set to get some villains in, such as Osi Sobeck, Darts D'Nar etc. :classic:

The TCW MTT would likely come with Gungans (if based off "Shadow Warrior"). Not Jar-Jar perhaps, but other Gungans.

The set would probably include: General Grievious, Tarpals, 2 Gungan Warriors, 12 B-1 Battle Droids, 2 Oom-Class Pilot Droids, 2 (or more) B-2 Battle Droids.

Other minifigs that are less likely: the Gungan traitor [name?], Jar-Jar as Boss Lyonnie [spelling?], Padmé, Anakin, Dooku, Commando Droids, Magnaguards (these would more likely be in a set of the ship on which Anakin and Padmé came to Naboo [name?])

It's a dirty light grey X-wing.

And that's not as bad as white clones covered in all the colors of the rainbow, starfighters painted bright yellow with chrome finish, or star destroyers with huge patches of red trim.

But yes, back on topic.

smokebelch, I'm almost convinced that you could make the ugliest minifig look beautiful. Can't wait to pick up one of those droids, now.

Osi Sobeck and Darts D'Narr would not be in the MTT, however TLG could make them.

Maybe I need to rewatch those episodes, but I think that Osi Sobeck's head could be made using an Alien Conquest Alien commander head.

For Darts D'Narr and other Zygerians, TLG could use a standard, printed head, with hair and ears as a seperate piece (like the CMf elf) and make a helmet to fit a standard head so that it would fit both Zygerians and Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Rex.

Riff Tamson would not be hard either, they could make a headpiece like the shark-men in Atlantis.

Putting them in sets would be easy, to:

D'Narr - Zygerian slave ship

Tamson - Trident

Sobeck - Seperatist cargo ship

The rumor is Zuckess as the last figure according to Hoth Bricks. He wasn't there in the movie, but he's been there, and people want him so it's plausible.

As for the sail barge, it needs to be a UCS model to be done properly. The last sail barge was about half the size of what it should be compared to the skiff size.

Well, to be fair, the colors have never mattered as far as the movies are concerned. The entire PT they fight droids, which with their advanced AI they should have no trouble differentiating color so camouflage would be useless. Might as well be white or yellow so that your allies can easily spot you. I guess you could put camo on the droids but they weren't programmed to be stealthy, or good at anything really.

The OT didn't need it either. The Empire was so powerful and cocky they could march in wearing anything and dominate the opposition, no need to hide. However, in the one tactical battle they engage in, they are camouflauged in Hoth. On Endor, they were expecting to win and wanted to lure the Rebels out so there was no need for camouflage. As for the Rebels, they use camo on Hoth and Endor.

Ships can target other ships, so camo in space isn't very useful. It'd just be harder for wingmen to back each other up.

Remind me of this, since when did Lego's mini-figure choice for CW sets ever make sense? There is no reason they can't be made in a set not based on their arc, especially if it is a Separatist craft.

True, however; as I pointed out, they could easily make sets that would make more sense.

Think about cases of random-fig-placement in the past - Master Ti in the T-6 shuttle - Master Ti has only been seen on Kamino, and away from any vehicles - Master Vos in the Republic frigate - he was only in one episode, and away from any vehicles that TLG would make etc. TLG will put minifigs in sets that make sense when they can, but if they can't, they will resort to r-f-p. Also, the MTT will have plenty of minifigs on its own without r-f-p, unlike the T-6 or Frigate. In addition, these cases have made some sense, however putting a character into a scene that take place long after his death makes no sense.

All of that sounds good, but isn't really so true. What about Commander Fox in the Homing Spider Droid set? Fox never battled a spider droid at all. Cad Bane in the CTT is another example of something that makes no sense whatsoever, especially because Bane was in another set where he did make sense. Osi Sobek with an MTT does not seem unlikely to me at all; they are both related to the Seperatists, after all.

It's RFPP, dimwit! :hmpf_bad:

I think that they resort to RFPP when they say "Hey, we need some new minifigs in this set, so let's do a random drawing of figures we haven't done yet, regardless of whether they ever came near the vehicle/location or not!"

Oh, right. I always thought the guy at 0:33 was Zuckuss. :wall: What, then...

Which is odd considering they could just give us clones...

Good point. I wonder if they do it also to get the most use out of a mould.

I had forgotten the ctt; that one was really weird. I do think I said " most" not '"all" though. If not, I ment it.

Where else could Fox go though? (In terms of sets out at the time)

It's RFPP, dimwit! :hmpf_bad:

What does the second "p" stand for?

Yes and no. The droid itself is the one in the advent calender and the Death Star, but the wheel is a pin with a cheese slope on the end (an illegal connection).

Is that R2 unit in the background made with unmodified parts?

Nope- its a black lightsaber handle with one end cut off, works well for third legs on the black astromech droids.

Posted (edited)

Pin? Or axle? I'm asking because these don't fit pins anymore.

See my reply above its NOT connected with a pin- its a black lightsaber handle with the end cut off. Works perfectly if your happy to cut it, and the colour matches the droid.

For the white R2 units I use this http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6587 in white, again with a bit trimmed off, unfortunatly they dont come in black so had an experiment with the saber handle.

Shot with both droids with third legs-
