Mr Man Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Product Description (From FBTB) Presenting the Ultimate Collector Series R2-D2™ — the best-loved droid in the Star Wars galaxy! C3P0 begs to differ . Quote
Front Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 The video is in my opinion one of the better ones from the varies presentations of "special sets". A bit of fun added. Two very different personalities. When I first saw this set, was when a college of mine brought it to his desk. He was technical coach on the set development. I instantly jumped up from my table, ran round to his table facing mine, and started touching this huge R2D2. It just looks lovely. Erland Part Design Quote

M-B-W Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 (edited) Videos that are made private by LEGO® are so annoying. Edited March 13, 2012 by M-B-W Quote
Paul Boratko Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Videos that are made private by LEGO® are so annoying. I think they are purposely doing all of this with leaked images and videos briefly showing new models just to create hype... If they didn't want things getting leaked out, they could prevent it... I would also like to add that I think this UCS model is amazingly well done and I am impressed... Quote
Masked Builder Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I'm pretty happy with R2, I do not like the way his third leg looks but it's nothing that can't be fixed. The designers did a great job getting so much detail into that small space. Now if only it was cheaper. Quote
Fuppylodders Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 (edited) As nice as it is, I think it'll have to be a 'if I have some money spare and it is on sale for a decent price' kinda thing before I get UCS R2... I'm more looking forward to the UCS B-wing. Edited March 13, 2012 by Fuppylodders Quote
Legobrandon Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 (edited) HD Version is now up. Special thanks to Grogall for the link! Edited March 14, 2012 by Legobrandon Quote
Brickus Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Great, I hope this will be available for the annual 'May the 4th be with you' sale. It should be since it is supposed to be released in May. Quote
Brickadeer Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Great, I hope this will be available for the annual 'May the 4th be with you' sale. It should be since it is supposed to be released in May. Star Wars is an American epic space opera film series created by George Lucas. The first film in the series was originally released on May 25, 1977, under the title Star Wars, by 20th Century Fox, and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon, followed by two sequels, released at three-year intervals. Wait...1977...2012...so it could be as well the 35th birthday of Star Wars, no? Quote
JackJonespaw Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Wait...1977...2012...so it could be as well the 35th birthday of Star Wars, no? Right, but I'm sure that it isn't that big of a deal. Maybe 40? Quote
ETAV8R Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 A Mini Fig, why TLG why . Falcon, Lambada, I can understand, they are meant to be to minifig scale. Most people would have 100's of these droids by now, you should have added a Chromed headed R2 if you desperately needed to add a fig. Now that would sell like hotcakes. Quote
will Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I think they've done a good job on it, and this will become my first UCS set. It could also be my last as I've got no room left for any more models! Quote
Delta 38 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Ooh, that's pretty nice. It probably won't fit into my price range, but it might be my first UCS set. Quote
Lobot Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I'm really impressed by this a definite purchase for me when it's available. I'm surprised by some of the (underwhelmed) reactions; it's accurate, a decent size, the third leg is a nice addition (without being gimmicky - like the bridge in 10221!!) and £150 seems very reasonable. Not too sure about the circular saw though, I'd prefer a periscope, but I'm an ESB fan so I'm biased Quote
kermit Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 When the sneak peak to this set showed up in the Town Hall video I was excited but now that we got a closer look Im having second thoughts , namely due to the boxy-looking body and head of R2-D2. I would of rather it have less of those ''play features'' and look more sleeker. Quote
mortesv Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 (edited) So far I think this model looks really good. I'm glad they added so many play features and it is a relief that they have added retraction functionality to the drive leg This is a must have for me and it seems to be a great addition to the UCS line.
