xowainx Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 After a bit of deliberation, I guess that brown "model" on the top row is a droid transport, like the one in battle of Naboo.. It'll probably be obvious once someone says it, but what is the craft above Darth Maul/next to the Snowtrooper supposed to be? Quote

lightningtiger Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Second year and I call it lame...again, Santa Maul is the only thing worth it in this advent set. Pass. Though it will sell, why ? Two words, Star Wars ! Quote
Lobot Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Thanks for the photo Brickadeer. I didn’t bother with last years, but this one looks a bit more interesting. If Amazon UK sell it for around £25 (like they did last year) I might grab one. The models are a bit on the basic side, but at least it includes a half-decent selection of minifigures. I really don't understand the 'festive' Darth Maul...what were they thinking Quote

StoutFiles Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Mini models appear to be worse in this calendar. While the figures are better, half of them were in the Hoth battlepacks that many bought multiples of. The only figure I would want this for is the new R2 unit, but I'm not sure if I could pass it off as an actual droid in a MOC because of the snowman features. Going to have to pass, again. Quote
Combee Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 I like that the lightsaber is being held by the blade instead of by the handle I wonder how well that would work Quote
Artizan Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 what is the part under the dish in sith infiltrator? the figs are all good except for veers and bonk droid(is it even considered a fig?) too much grey in this set. Quote
Mr Man Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 and bonk droid(is it even considered a fig?) too much grey in this set. Sorry 'Bonk' Droid . Quote
jmagaletta Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 What is the little thing with the Handlebars supposed to be? A turret? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 What is the little thing with the Handlebars supposed to be? A turret? Yeah, it looks like a really small Atgar P-Tower. Overall, I think the minis are better than last years, and the Snow Astromech at least would be somewhat useful for MOCs as far as exclusive minifigs go. The GNK Droid doesn't look too good, though. Esvald Forceswoop Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 This is the Darksaber? Really? Pff... But the Vizsla and the fighter looks good. Quote

TheLegoDr Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Thanks for the advent calendar pictures. I can't wait to get it! I still have last years unopened since I opened a different advent last year. But we got that one for $20, so I was pretty pleased about that. Hopefully we can find this one just as cheap. Last years was my first SW set, so I'm excited to open it. For someone new to SW, this is a great calendar. For others with multiple Hoth battlepacks, then I guess it wouldn't be the best. I only recently got the battlepacks, so I don't have multiples of those figures, so I could probably use another 3, not a big deal. I didn't buy any battle of Naboo, so that gungan is welcomed. And I love Santa Maul. The box art is almost worth the purchase! Quote
eric729 Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 For those of you who didn't notice, the gun/lightsaber holder from the advent calender has BOTH blades Quote
hohesC Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Is it just me, or does the imperial office have a different head than the battlepack one? I like the chin-strap, and hopefully it is dual-sided, with snow goggles on the other side No matter which head it is, I still think that the range of minifigs is better than last years.Only thing I'm not so sure about is two christmassy figs. One would have been enough imo. Cheers, C* Quote

Dustin Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 (edited) i'm so gonna get Malevolence Finally! Another person that appreciates the beauty of the Malevolence! As for other sets... The Skiff is a must buy. Jabba's Palace... no. Just no. TOR Sets; no. Tiin's JSF. YES! Gungan Sub? No. I might BL Amidala, though... The Mando Fighter is great, and I might buy it. The Advent Calendar is hideous. The only things worth it from the set are the two battle droids, and not even those are truly worth the price... I'll pass. Edited May 24, 2012 by Dustin Quote
coolguy2323 Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 TOR sets: Yes! Tiin fighter: yep Malevolence: yep I'll need to wait fir the others, but so far the Malevolence and the Fury are my favorites. I like the Palace as well, but cost might be an issue. Dont know how I can get these+the LOTR sets, but I hope I can make it work. :) Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 I just love Jabba's figure. It's amazing. Quote
deco_droid Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 (edited) Not sure if we had a clear shot of Pre Viszla already: Thanks for the photo of Vizsla's fighter. The design is somewhat similar to the T-6 Jedi shuttle with that rotating center, but I think I like the T-6 better. As for the darksaber, yah, I don't understand LEGO sometimes. A black katana is a much closer match than what they came up with. They could of at least given us a black hilt! Wow... Edited May 25, 2012 by Erdbeereis Removed pictures from quote Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 LEGO is partly right with their Darksaber. Lightsabers were always a stick and a hilt. A Katanna would be a much more fitting piece, but then they would have to print one part of the piece, and as we all know LEGO hates doing special and/or complicated parts made solely for exclusive sets and it still works, like regular Stormie helmets worked for TIE pilots or regular clones for clone pilots. The other possibility would be using a black katanna, but then: who hasn´t got one already? I´ve got more of a problem with the lack of figures. I think there should have been one or two more figures. A version of Satine at least. But as the Death Watch seems to take a larger place in season 5 (hopefully this is not like in the season 4 teaser, where they were featured and it all turned out to be a single episode) maybe there will be another mandalorian set next year. The other Mando shuttle would be great as the expensive set of January 2013, with season 4 style Viszla, Bo-Katan, Satine and some other figures. To return to the present: An ad for the TOR sets began to ran in Germany. The wording of the spot is rather broad. Along the line of "The Sith are attacking the Republic! The Jedi man their ships.". I could see kids mistaking the sets for Clone Wars or movie themed ships. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkoGXBLXjIk&list=UUKxiVPGGq8m0fTjQcHHef3w&index=1&feature=plcp Quote
