If these planet sets sell well enough, here's to hoping we get a Kamino with clone trooper*fingers crossed*

At the risk of straying into speculation, I'm sure when the big Clones wave hits, there'll be plenty of clones for everyone.

Well, Mirandir saw prelims, which is where he got his news, so they must be out there. I wonder how soon we will see them... :look:

Yes, the Retail Catalogs should be out by this point. It's just a matter of who has one and is willing to scan it.

First post has been prepped for info.

Now I need to sleep and then I'll update with the info we've gotten so far on the 2012 sets.

Now please people - think before you post.

Some act like this is a CHAT - which it certainly is NOT!

Reconsider your post before you post it - is it really that much on target? :sceptic:

Let's try to keep this as clean and on topic as possible.

This IS the rumor and picture topic, not speculation on what you'd like to see.

Confirmed and unconfirmed rumors are to be discussed - not speculations on prices and whining about them.

Stray to far or blatant lying will only get your account suspended and your behind stuck in a trash compactor. :vader:

This should be KimT's avatar.

Because he's got a white beard like me?

I'd never something like that - I wear red and pack a bunch of rabid reindeers.

Now get back on topic or I'll have to ban the both of us

If they had a Kamino I would rather see a Kaminoan. It could use the new Toy Story tall pieces.

Sorry its not on topic.

I really hope the new Y Wing does not have one of the rubber spring missiles.

Hope the Rebel Commandos have the same uniform that the old ones (Battle of Endor Set), Lego needs to include the old man that used a Biker Scout uniform.

Wow, now that's a proper Rebel. Imagine the chaos he could have caused if he wasn't caught.

Actually, my first thought when I saw the new Collectible Minifig alien is that the piece looks rather similar, so I don't think a Kaminoan would be too hard to do.

I just thought of something. The new planet sets have the line "Build the Galaxy". Maybe the planets are actually brick-built? That would be great.

I can also imagine having a full mini-galaxy of planets with their models. :classic:

They aren't. They are just big molded pieces with studs on top.

Okay, let's see the upcoming sets:

Fighters. X-Wing, Y-Wing, TIE Fighter, and Eta II Jedi Interceptor. Why? Why don't relase more frigates or crusiers? (Nebulon-B Medical Frigate, Droid Control Ship, Acclamator Assuault Ship, etc...) The figures: Too many. Yeah, it's cool, they give 5-6 figs in a fighter, but it's make more expensive. My point of view, the minifigures just overprice a set.

The Geonosisian Cannon looks great. I like CIS, and his weapons, so I hope that will be in a good set. Droid Escape: It looks a cool, not too big OT set.

Mixed battle packs: Great idea! We will buy OT battle packs and CW battle packs, in one year! And the figures! I love the ARC Troopers, and the commando droids, but sadly, no Aqua Droids :(

It looks a great year.

Because this is the January wave and no large sets are built.

As these are rumors, I don't believe the X-Wing will be released in 2012. Here's why:

1. While the X-Wing fighter that is currently out (6212) has been on the shelf for longer than most LEGO Star Wars sets, it's a set that continues to sell exceptionally well. Most LBR stores continue to get shipments of this product, even though it is sold out on LEGO.com.

2. Never once in the history of LEGO Star Wars has a redesigned set been released while an earlier version of the product is still being manufactured. It would be a horrible move by LEGO to manufacture two of the exact same ship (even if there are slight modifications or changes to the minifigures).

Rumors of the Y-Wing would make more sense. We haven't had a Y-Wing from the Original Trilogy since 2006-7ish and the Clone Wars version was discontinued earlier this year.

That's too bad, but at least there's some form of integration with other pieces.

Are those X-Wings still being produced? I thought they stopped ages ago. I only managed to find an X-Wing one or two years ago, and since then, I haven't seen it anywhere else.

Except for that one instance...

Like I said, it's still a very popular set. We still manage to get shipments of them in, but not as frequent as we used to. Even still, it would be way too early to introduce a new X-Wing. The first thing LEGO does with any product before it is discontinued is knock down the price officially through LBR, LEGO.com, etc. which has never been done for 6212. I wouldn't expect another redesign of the X-Wing for at least 3 years minimum.

We haven't had a legitimate redesign since 2004.

That's true, but a redesign would be a step back in my opinion. From a fan's point of view, the X-Wing already is a perfect set. You get what is one of the flagship starfighters in the entire Star Wars universe and it's a great, solid build and 6 main character minifigures, for $49.99. That is an absolute steal compared to the newer sets that are coming out. In my opinion, any redesign would just undercut the bricks, lower the minifigure count, and drive up the price.

I guess these guys aren't fans then. And this is the last I'll say on the matter...

6212 has artwork that's outdated, is being phased out, is no longer being sold in some countries, and while it is a very good set, it's not so good that it doesn't need a remake. I think this is a good move by TLG to keep Star Wars' most iconic, recognizable starfighter on the shelves at all times.

While I'm totally in favor of a remake, I'm just saying that expecting it to be remade for a launch in Jan. 2012 is not something that's normally done by LEGO.

Maybe it's not normally done, but if these rumors are true it won't be the biggest new thing of the wave. (the planet things are unprecedented) Besides, if TLG decides to remake a classic set quicker than we OT fans expected and give us some new minifigs at the same time, who are we to complain?

Believe me, I see your point. But TLG doesn't always follow the same pattern. And sending more sets to the Brand Stores could just be TLG clearing out their S@H warehouses to make room for the newer version.
