commanderneyo Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Might as well now throw my thoughts in as it's quietened down a bit I like the idea of these two factions in battle packs. I honestly feel these are how the battle packs should have been done from the beginning, otherwise it really isn't a battle pack, if you have to get two to make your battle, so mixing them is a good choice. I must say, I'm rather disappointed by the choice of sets this year. I'm happy for you OT collectors who didn't get much last year and nothing in January. But still, considering CW is an on-going franchise at the moment, and that soon the PT movies will be in 3D, you would think that we would see a mix of CW and PT in January, maybe not just TPM but AOTC/ROTS. I'm certainly shocked about this many OT sets considering the first OT movie in 3D isn't for several years. I also dislike the CW sets that we will get. The ARC Troopers VS Commando Droids battle pack sounds good. By the way, for those of you debating that ARF/ARC thing, the rumour on Jedi news says it's just ARC's, so more than likely just two ARC's, who I hope would be Echo and Fives, but expect to be the Blue and Yellow ARC (Blitz). Finally getting Commando Droids as well would be great. I dislike the Geonosian Cannon set. The figure choice isn't that good. A CW version of someone who's other figure I think is good enough (Barriss Offee), a simple re-painted Clone who we could/should have got around season 1 (Gree), another Geonosian and the Zombie Geonosian. Mini-figure choice pretty lacklustre. Would have liked to see Jet, Flamethrower or Special Ops Clone in there. The ROTS set sounds like the best for me, other than the ARC battle pack. Depending on pictures, it looks like I will be passing on most, if not all the OT sets, but we will have to see. Quote

I have to say, I as an OT fan didn't expect this number of OT sets, and would've been happy with just the TIE/ln and the T-65. Everything else is a bonus. Honestly, I love the selection, but I, too, have no idea why TLG is doing this. My best guess is they have listened to the fans and realized that it's been too long since the iconic OT sets were updated, and decided to update it right smack in the middle of a three year stretch expected to be dominated by the PT, during a wave that's usually CW. With the series now in its fourth year and steadily heading towards Sith vehicles, I can understand why they're doing it now, if those are the reasons. I wouldn't be surprised if they made a similar move with wave of iconic PT sets in 2016 before the big Empire wave hits. Quote

Yeah, I think they see a lot of PT/CW sets coming up, so they decided to get all the OT sets out of the way with this wave, preparing them for Season 4/AOTC/ROTS. I think the summer wave will be an AOTC wave, followed by either ROTS or AOTC battle packs in 2013. But we don't want to go down that road of speculation again . But I have to disagree with you Brickdoctor, I can't see any reason why they would do a PT wave in 2016, as a lot of the iconic PT sets will probably be covered in the coming waves. Quote

I'm not predicting it, I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if they did. 2015-2017 should be three years dominated by OT sets, and they might do one PT wave in the middle, much as this is one OT wave in the middle of a PT stretch, just to add variation and update their PT lineup. But that's probably speculation that doesn't relate to 2012. What's an "iconic PT set"? * I wonder why BrickSpecialist blanked out all of his posts. He seemed confident that everything he was saying was correct but didn't say anything after Brickdoctor questioned him about his sources. *Other than the Venator and the Eta-2, that is. Not sure about the LAAT/i - but then again, I haven't seen Attack of the Clones since 2008. Edited August 7, 2011 by fallenangel309 Quote

He seemed confident that everything he was saying was correct but didn't say anything after Brickdoctor questioned him about it. Scum! Oh, wait. Maybe he wasn't supposed to tell us so much, and he didn't want to get in trouble and/or lose his job with TLG. Quote
Esvald Forceswoop Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 (edited) RGS=Republic Gunship? Edited August 7, 2011 by Esvald Forceswoop Quote
brickbuilder Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 RGS=Republic Gunship? Awww yeah. There are plenty of iconic PT sets too! Pfft. OT fans. Just kidding. But there is the Venator, RGS, Nubian, Venator, AT-TE, Droid Control ship, Venator... Wait, did I already say that? I think the Venator is pretty iconic, and I still want a UCS. Quote
Fallenangel Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 RGS=Republic Attack Gunship? Yes. Actually, it's Republic Gunship... So about this "Battle of Hoth LEGO Game"... what should we expect? Has The LEGO Group released anything like this before? People are bringing up microfigures, so will it be like a smaller version of this? Quote

We don't know what it'll look like, but after the Harry Potter game with licensed microfigs, I'm hoping we get micro Star Wars figs in this one. Quote
Raider Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 yea that would be very good. i would love to know what the 2012 UCS model is, hope it is Jango fetts slave 1 or some nabooian thing. Quote
Piranha Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 (edited) So you know for certain that this set is coming out? How do you know of Summer 2012 sets but not the Winter ones? (or if you've only heard of some of the Winter Wave releases, which sets can you confirm?) So how does he know the summer sets and is doubting the winter sets? Also new member claims to work for TLG, edits posts to all blank..... Sure there could be a logical explanation but until then I am placing the Nubian on my vague, vague rumor list. Also BTW, the Jedi Interceptor is missing R2-D2 under figs. Yes, you are quite correct. The EP3 set is 9494 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor. Besides a dark green Jedi Interceptor it includes: a brickbuildt Mustafar droid, a small platform, Anakin Skywalker with new "evil eyes" alt. face, Obi Wan Kenobi, R2-D2, a new Nute Gunray and a Security Battle Droid Edited August 7, 2011 by Macoco Quote
Raider Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 yea but maybe it is how the older ones were. remember that they had no body but they did have the head. Lego did not class the droids as minifigs then they may not now Quote

Remember, we are still looking out for a second 2011 UCS that has not been confirmed yet. Also, this should go in the Future Star Wars sets topic. But a Slave 1 would make a great UCS, as well as a Venator. Quote
Raider Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Sorry about the deviation from topic. about the battle backs who knows if it is one arc and one arf or is this all just unconfirmed Quote

Fallenangel Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Then why the debate over having two ARCs? Because people forget things and make typos. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Then why the debate over having two ARC's What debate? No one is debating the amount of ARCs. Some members asked the questions; other members answered them. The only discussion concerning the ARC is which one it will be. Quote
Raider Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 OK, just on some site's they argue about the true. Also sorry for misinformation about the debate Quote
