Brickdoctor Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Hello everyone I'm new! I must say this year is going to be pretty good, I'm really looking foward to the new battle packs(less minifiguers and not as good as quality speeders but it still sounds good)I read the first-post and well I have doubts that we'll get a new Y-wing if we're already getting a x-wing and b-wing(what would we get for the 30th anniversary of ROTJ?) Over all I'm looking foward to this year, can't wait for picturs!!!! At the risk of derailing this thread, there are other starfighters that are in desperate need of a remake that could be redone for 2013. I'd be really surprised if, especially after updating the TIE x1 and TIE/ln, they don't rerelease the TIE/in for the 30th Anniversary of Jedi. Quote

I'd be really surprised if, especially after updating the TIE x1 and TIE/ln, they don't rerelease the TIE/in for the 30th Anniversary of Jedi. I wouldn't say the interceptor is desperate for a remake, nor is the bomber. They just need a color swap to match the x1 colors. I don't normally display them all together but will do so for this topic. They look fine this way I think...and the new TIE/ln, while better designed, would look off next to these fighters because of the redesigned cockpit. If I get the new one it will be to mod the wings only. Quote
Fallenangel Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) Maybe I should start a new thread for this. StoutFiles, I'm afraid I would have to disagree with you here - the blocky look of 4479 and 6206 were fine for their time, but looking at 8017 and 9492, I feel that they too could use some refinement to bring them up to contemporary standards. In particular, 4479 is more boxy and discolored than it needs to be; it could very well use a redesign utilizing recent techniques for more curved shapes. Next to 8017, 4479 looks mediocre and unfinished. I wouldn't be surprised if we were to see rehashes of those two sets in the near future. Edited August 29, 2011 by fallenangel309 Quote

I'm not saying they couldn't use a redesign, every ship can be improved, but I wouldn't use the word desperate. We will get a remake of all the TIE's, minus the Defender, before the license ends I'm sure. Quote

I do think that the new hinge-and-tile edging on this year's TIE/ln is a huge improvement, but they don't look that bad with the color change. They do look rather blocky, as Fallenangel said, but perhaps it would be better to say 'they desperately need a rerelease' instead of 'remake'.Anyways, the point was that there are craft other than the B-wing, Y-wing, and X-wing that can be redone for Jedi's 30th Anniversary. As of this point, I'm uncomfortable about saying anything 'desperately' needs a remake or re-release. TBH only one which came to mind was the TIE-fighter, which was showing its age and thankfully it was one of the first announced. The Interceptor needed a palette swap, which by Lego standards, justifies a re-release. They got the B-Wing/Y-Wing/X-Wing right second time around so I personally can't see much room for improvement. What else could be redone for 30th? Quote
mutley777 Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Imaging a brand new remade scaled X, Y, and B wing in one year (Oh we need a A wing to TLG ). Well We did get a the X-wing, B-wing and A-wing all in 2006. Followed by the Y-wing the next year! Quote

What else could be redone for 30th? They'll redo anything that will sell and entice a new generation of lego SW collectors. I doubt anything really needs remaking. It's more to do with re-releasing sets that are iconic. how many more Falcons, X-Wings, Tie-Fighters and AT-ATs will we see before the doors close? My guess is at least one or two more of each. Quote
North Lego Star Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 dose anyone know if the jedi interceptor will have the droid that anakin rode on or the one that mines lava? IT'S TIME FOR PICTURES,I CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER!!!!!!!!! Quote

North Lego Star Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Sorry i'm just getting inpatient, There are 2 mustafar droids, the one that is seen by Anakin's jedi fighter when he lands on Mustafar and the one Anakin lands on after he junps off the pillar thing before it went down th lavafall Quote
Cwetqo Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 How about this for 2H21012: Would it look ok in Venator/ISD size? I allways thought this ship could be made just as very large set. Quote

I don't think it's the place to post this and you can find the instructions for this set on the lego site if i remember correctly (from pieces of other sets). Edit: Look here the last 2009 instructions named Malevolence. Edited August 30, 2011 by Petit-bleu Quote
K-Nut Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Do you think we'll get a lot of AOTC sets next year for the ten year anniversary? We really need some Episode 2 sets. Overall 2012 seems like one of the better years. Nothing like this year but still pretty good. I'm really excited for the Jedi Interceptor. We need some new ROTS figs. Quote

Cwetqo Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I was talking about system scale Malevolence (140 euro price range). Do you think it would be ok, or is it too small for such a ship (curved shape is not allways easy to reproduce)? Quote
LandShark Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) Do you think we'll get a lot of AOTC sets next year for the ten year anniversary? We really need some Episode 2 sets. I think 2012 might be more focused on the 3D release of TPM. Especially since Lego made a Slave 1 fairly recently. If they wait a bit longer for 'Clones to come out in 3D, people will be more likely to want another (Jango's). But, I seem to remember hearing that if the first 3D release was successful, they'd do AOTC the next year. Which would overlap with the 30th anniversary of 'Jedi. EDIT: I just realized, I keep switching between acronyms and one-word abbreviations for the Movies, sorry if that confuses anyone. Edited August 30, 2011 by LandShark Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I think 2012 might be more focused on the 3D release of TPM. Well this year (2011), we got a big Menace wave when the movie isn't out until next year. TLG seems to release one smaller set, then one wave, then a smaller wave when the movie comes out, and then one last small wave after that. It makes sense. So it wouldn't be unusual to get Clones sets next year. Quote

Also, I would have thought they would save up the Endor BP's for the 'Jedi anniversary. Quote

A System scaled Invisible Hand would be better. Quote

North Lego Star Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Again, sorry I'm just getting impatient. Dose anyone know if the Phase 1.5 cone trooper will have a closed visor or an openned one? So who has seen the sets, other than the tie fighter(someone had to have seen them or we would not have known about them.) I kind of thought about and ever 3 years starting in 2006 we have gotten a big ship(2006=star destoyer then in 2009=Ventor) so we could get a CIS command ship,Mon Calimari Crusier or even a Malvolence this year 2012 Quote

Nobody has to have actually seen pictures for us to know a list, and especially nobody on EB. Somebody somewhere in the world could get the info, and that's how it got all over the internet. As to your second point, I highly doubt that trends can be predicted based on two sets. You could just as easily say that LEGO releases new Republic Gunships every six years, because one came out in 2002 and another in 2008. You just can't jump to that sort of conclusion. Besides, why don't you count the Republic Cruiser in 2007, the System Tantive, and the recent Republic Frigate? I'm sure we would all love another capital ship, but there is no rumor of it and no evidence to go by. Quote
wokajablocka Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Im up for a Separatist flag ship, drop ship or command ship in system scale . Quote
