I like the Jedi Interceptor. The other ones seem to blurry for me to judge. But I need some new RotS figs. No more crappy clone wars faces! :sing:

Same here. I am really happy that we receive some E3 sets lately, and they're all very nice: The ARC-170, Palpis Shuttle, Tri-Fighter, and now an ETA Starfighter! Only bad it's hard to come by some E3 clones, since TLC only focuses on the CW clones..

The other sets all don't look like big surprises, and I belong to the people being a little bit disappointed by the X-Wing. Sorry for that!

The Tri Fighter was CW however The Swamp Speeder, and V-Wing where ROTS.

Prelims... meh! :sceptic:

They are what they are... preliminaries.

They show nothing we don't know already and all they actually do is make people make foolish assumptions

Please don't put too much into these pics.

They rarely show the exact final product - keep that in mind when discussing them please.

On the figs, yes. But the build is fairly well displayed. (Minus details and the X-wing)

Amen to that because from what I have seen so far looks like we will be starved for new minifigures in 2012. I hope that is not the case.

Well if you look at the box art on the jedi star fighter the Anakin and Gunray both have the orange "new" figure logo next to them and all the figs in the geonosian set have them! That tells me just how preliminary these shots are. :classic:

Which is why the figs in the new Clone Wars BP are all stand-ins also. I do think it means we are getting phase 2 clones for sure in this BP. That will be in line with what we have seen in the Season 4 previews.

Since they are both listed as ARC Troopers, it's possible they will be a phase 1.5 helmet mould - a Phase II helmet with a Phase I fin.

I have yet to see any real evidence that phase 1.5 armour even exists. Was it in any of the clone wars TV shows? If it was I missed it. I have seen that picture around with the helmet and fin that you mention but I don't recall seeing it in action ever. To me it all looks like a phase 2 armour but just a different variant.

Yes, it was. I believe it was in the premiere arc of last season, with the attack on Kamino. There were a few ARC troopers who had the fin on a Phase II helmet.

Ah yes, I remember now. So it could be these clones in the new BP then. Looks like we will have to wait for new pictures to confirm what we get. :sweet:

So... does anyone else feel that the thing in the battle pack is a sad, puny attempt at an AV-7? (It's not unlike that pitifully scrawny IG-227 we got back in '08...)

If we don't mod it, then yes. But for us and the kids, I think we got enough of speeder bike in the BP already. The cannon itself is a nice change of weather. Hell, we even got a speeder bike in a non-BP back when an exclusive-not-BP shows up (namely 7869).

So a while back someone had posted a number for an exclusive R2 D2. I've received confirmation from a Lego Store employee that this will just be a large R2 model. That's all he told me. Whether or not it will move or do anything is unknown to me.

Yes, 10025. Probably a sculpture, like this.

Off-topic: Zurg got a cape while Grievous didn't...

Agreed. Rather disappointing. I was hoping it would at least be motorized.

Zurg was a lot smaller. Technic Vader was around that size, and he got a cape, as did action figure King Mathias from KK2.

Wow, I give up checking for a few weeks and suddenly images! :classic:

Droid Escape: Quite nice, considering the Stormtroopers. Maybe it's just me, but R2-D2 looks a little different (printing maybe?).

Geonosian Cannon: We were right, but I thought it was going to be a lot larger. I'd rather have a few more Clones instead of the Jedi, particularly if it's non-Clone Wars Bariss. Still, I may get two of this for the Geonosians.

Battlepacks: Yay! The Endor battlepack is great as I don't have any Endor Rebels, and the Clone Wars battlepack should be good, providing the ARF isn't the same as the one we got this year.

Interceptor: Could do with some work. It looks like Nute Gunray has a skirt now.

X-Wing: Really not sure about this. A bit more streamlined and plainer, but not different enough to warrant getting it. The figures may change my mind, but I doubt it in this case.

I'm an MOCer, I love the OT, and I'm a fanatic when it comes to accuracy and aesthetics of a LEGO model. I feel your pain. But there are a number of factors to consider. Is the set strong enough to swooshed by an average eight-year-old? Is the build simple enough to avoid frustration yet complex enough to avoid boredom? Are there enough play features for the target audience to enjoy? Are there appealing minifigs? Is the set recognizable to the target audience?

(bit of self-promotion here  ) I did do a review of set 6212, and in it, I had to come to the conclusion that all elements considered, as far as the target audience was concerned, it really was quite a good set.

Yeah, you're right, as far as target audience goes, it's a great set. It's obviously an x-wing and it has good minifigs. I complain selfishly, I'll admit  but I, like a lot of others on this board, was hoping for a redesign corresponding with that of the tie fighter, not just a few more pieces thrown on and shifted around.

Why are people complaining that a good set is not getting a substantial redesign? 4502/6212 has been around for over half the span of the license and it still sells well. It doesn't make sense for The LEGO Group to change the design (even if it is hideous) because kids love it and AFOLs love it! Some have even gone so far as to say "the LEGO designers did a great job getting the look of the ship right" and that it is "very well designed and very sleek". It would only make sense that The LEGO Group would retain such a popular design! What's the problem? Are there actually people on this forum who agree with me that the set is ugly? If so, why haven't you said so?

I know this is absolutely the worst time to bitch about toys, but Orukaia just isn't making sense.

I'm honestly a little shocked that 6212 is regarded as a terrible set by so many AFOLs. I still have mine built and I love it. The redesign (at least, the prelim version) isn't a huge update but it still definitely improved the accuracy a fair amount.

Maybe I'm just a bad AFOL... I tend to like all the sets that everyone else hates.

Are you not aware that you are in the majority here? The point I was trying to make was why people were griping about the fact that The LEGO Group didn't substantially change the Almighty LEGO Star Wars Set, Perfect in All Its Ways, All Who Oppose Shall be Cast Into the Burning Pit of Best Locks.

I HIGHLY suggest people to reserve judgement of the upcoming sets until they see better and confirmed pics. Like what Kim said, these are prelims so don't take them too seriously as they're bound to change. I don't really see the point of complaining this early only to find out later that final designs are completely much better than the ones we're seeing now.

You are remarkably butthurt over 6212. I think you're in the wrong hobby.

I always find amazing how some people here can draw so many conclusions over blurry pics of non definitive and subject to change new sets...

Over analysis is really funny but as said before, all those pics are just a very early view of what we might get next year....

About 6212, I love this set and I just think that a revamp should bring some bright ideas and improvements, not just a new box.....

People would have loved a remake had it been drastic. The wings still don't fully close, still an unsightly axel on the back to crank the wings, still rubberbands, R2 is now sideways, etc. As for the figs, I would have loved a new Biggs or Wedge, instead of a guy who's novelty is just being fat.

It's not enough to warrant getting the new one, might as well slightly mod the one you have if you don't like it. 6212 is awful in terms of accuracy, but this one is still way off as well. I'll always take a new set over a subpar remake.
