sok117 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I'm not exactly sure what you're negating in my post. I think I said myself that it was a great buy, just not in those terms By all means I'm not negating, just embellishing my agreement! Not in the same level as the X-Wing or TIE Wing but still a good set.. Quote
yellost Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 (edited) Cool, thanks for the new pics. I like the way each new version of the X-wing looks sleeker than the previous. The way I see it, 6212 would be like the one used in the OT and the new one would fit as the new XJ3 used during the New Jedi Order Serie I'm definitely getting that one. The Y-Wing on the other hand gives me mixed feelings. I like the way they scaled down the greebles of the UCS on this much smaller version but the proportions of the result looks really off to me...the head looks too big compared to the rest of the ship... The TIE Fighter is another definite improvement. It just needs to have its cockpit window replaced by the old one, though... on a side note, when I was looking at the first page, I noticed that Anakin's Jedi Interceptor is listed as a CW subtheme. Shouldn't it be an Episode 3 or PT set? Although the mistake could be from TLC, the same way they classed the midi Millenium Falcon in the CW Subtheme. In all honesty, I don't really care, I just thought I'd point it out in case someone does Edited October 17, 2011 by yellost Quote

I'm not sure, but the size actually looks about right. I wouldn't say the head is too big, just misshapen. There isn't enough curvature. Quote
GRogall Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Oh Man, all this complaining about the accuracy from a lego model!? As far as I'm concerned Lego did a lot better job on the detail over the last two versions they put out The minifigures are also well chosen. IMO Quote
GRogall Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 (edited) Please if you have pics of the geonosian cannon put them up today we can't wait to see more:cry_sad:. So please, pretty please. Oh; alright here it is...... and remember pics link to HR version 2000+ pxl. 9491 Geonosian Cannon enjoy it, Why don't you.... Edited October 17, 2011 by grogall Quote
Ceroknight Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Thank you Grogall! The Geonosians look.....smug compared to the old version... I probably won't get this.... Quote
Cad Bane Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 YAY! Thanks so much! I like how the Zombie and the Warrior not only have different colors/printing, but also different wing printing! Barris' torso also got an update... She doesn't look too bad in her updated form (face print), the eyes are still a bit creepy though... The Cannon's pretty good, but in all honesty, this set's about the figures which IMO are GREAT! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Ouch, the pain my wallet is going to feel next year, I wouldn't mind another Y-wing to join my other one. Flick-fires don't really worry me to much, oh and the Geonosian cannon....dam, another must buy....hello Target and Myer % off sales next year ! (only I must hide the sets from the wife ! ) Quote
wesker Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Thanks for the pics. Love the look of the new Y-Wing and the cannon is a huge improvement over the old one that came with the original Geonosian Fighter. Leia, Gree, the Geonosians and the yellow astromech all look fantastic, and although I like Barris's new body and dark blue cloak I think I'm going to switch heads with the old figure. Quote
Brickadeer Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 (edited) This ARF didn't have leg markings in the show, the ARC did, that is why the ARC (Hammer) has leg printing... It's not about the coloured printings, but the black lines that seperate the plain white legs into different parts of the clone armor. My naive opinion is that if it's possible to make such complex printing like e. g. the Geonosian's legs, it cannot be that difficult to make white legs with just a few black lines. As for the new Y-Wing: it simply seems to be too small when compared to the X-Wing. I do not like the plates on the cockpit. They make the 9495 look like 7658 - which is simply not consistent with the lower (broader) part of the cockpit. 9491 is pretty nice. On small pics, Barriss' eyes look weird, but this impression is not generated by bigger pictures. Edited October 17, 2011 by Brickadeer Quote
cavegod Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 All well and good but we need pictures of the UCS Sets god damm it! Quote
Kaitan Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 That Y-Wing is awesome, and I love the yellow droid In fact, all the figures in it are good. This set is my only definite buy of the wave, a shame it's an exclusive. Do we know who for yet? It doesn't say it's an exclusive on the box art, where did we hear it's an exclusive? (sorry if I've missed something - don'tcha just hate that?) Kaitan Quote
Niamh Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 New TIE looks awesome, even from this distance, a must! Yep, you are right. Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Think i'll need to view a few comparisons between the new Y wing and the studio model - because my first thoughts were 'argh my eyes!' Looks dreadful - like the very first Y wing. Add in Zev again and I think I can get by with my old 2006 Y wing Quote

I posted a few reference pictures on the last page; the two most glaring errors seem to be the blocky head and scrawny engines that give the ship a very distorted appearance. It was also noted on FBTB that the construction in the front resembles that of 8037. Quote
GRogall Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 thanks very much :) By any chance do you have the Endor battle pack pics? Oh man! just begging for those pics uh? Same warnings are in affect! :vader: Quote

TheDarkness Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 (edited) I will go broke just building up my Endor armies, but more Geonosians? Clones? My bank account is crying already. Edited October 17, 2011 by TheDarkness Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 What does Indy do in Endor? Anyway, usually TRU gets a CW/PT exclusive in the first two months and OT in around August.....perhaps the Geonosian cannon might be that exclusive or the new Jedi Starfighter....that would be my luck and pay a TRU tax price. Mr Man Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 The stormtrooper has a new torso print? Thanks for the Hi-Res images grogall, do you have any of the planets sets? Quote
Praiter Yed Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the high-res pics Grogall I've been dying to see the new Y-Wing. I've always considered 7658 to be one of the best system scaled SW OT vehicles and I can't decide whether this is an improvement or not. It seems some bits look better but to the detriment of other areas. IMHO the perfect Y-Wing would be somewhere between the two, lets hope there's more detail underneath this one. Still, a must buy for me though. Nice to see that TLG are really utilising the new R5 heads and the Princess Leia fig looks great too, but could use a little more cleavage imo I think Threepios' print in Droid Escape works much better than I expected but the Sand Troopers are a little over-printed, but still a nice variation - another must buy. 2012 is gearing up to be an expensive year. The stormtrooper has a new torso print? Thanks for the Hi-Res images grogall, do you have any of the planets sets? It would seem so, and I think the Scout Trooper print is slightly different too. Not the best battle pack, but still worth buying more than one. I'm also eager to see hi-res images of the Planets. Edited October 17, 2011 by Praiter Yed Quote
