Neither do I, really. Just that it would be nice to get a B-Wing again.

The A-Wing might be a possibility. Home One was fairly recent, but it's not a standalone A-Wing.

I think someone might have said something about a UCS A-wing.

Have we seen the UCS B-wing yet? That's the set that's interesting me most, since I'm kind of disappointed with the new Y-wing and the X-wing is pretty much the same as the old version.

We haven't, unfortunately.

We will though and expect Pf and a high price

Power functions on the b-wing? And what for? Just to open and close the wings? I can't really see the utility of including a true motor just to move two wings, unless you like the idea of setting it on a loop and watch it clap its wings to death. Or maybe you need a fancy fan for those really hot days. If you are sweaty and like Lego, I say it's two birds with a stone.

Agreed, power functions on a display model would be pointless and would only raise the price.

Completely agreed. If it was something with a major fuction, like the Motorized Walking AT-AT, PF would be acceptable. On soemthing that just moves its wings, not so much. :sceptic:

Yip, pointless!! Now should us some pics of it. Info would be nice too.

That will make the B-Wing, X-Wing, and Y-Wing in UCS "scale". Hopefully we will get an A-Wing in 2013. Something to go with the TIE Interceptor and Vader's TIE would be nice too. I would love to see Lego's take on the TIE Bomber.

We have to rotate that friggin' small lever on the back of the Lambda for three. damn. minutes. just to close its giant wings, and we get an engine for the B-Wing's cockpit?

I suppose that after the eleventh minifig (at least three of them with newly molded eyes, one with an extra new smirk and two Uber Giga Limited minifigs of an actor who ate a sandwhich in the background near a B-wing (complete with super limited Lego Sandwitch)), TLG just couldn't find another way of inflating the price of the UCS.

The developers looked each other in the eyes and asked "We need to make this set more expensive".

One of them said "Let's use some gears. It worked with the Lambda".

The chief said "Still too cheap. And we don't have an excuse for making them out of pure platinum. YET."

The most clever of the bunch said "What about a pound of gold dust?"

"Nope, it must have something to do with the set. Good idea, though, I'll write it down here".

The last one said "Let's add a motor".

Roaring applauses ensued, together with bottles of wine and cakes.

Don't forget the gold plated base plate signed by the extra that stood to one side on the set of ROTJ !

But why hasn't Lego come up with a modification design for PF'ing say the shuttle then....just like the Emerald Night PF mod's.

Sorry, off topic there.

Just noticed that the Security BD in 9494 is the one from 7662 NOT the one from 7877.

The difference between 7662 and 7877 is that 7877 has that body printing on it while 7662 doesn't.

Er, what a plain droid not this Securaty_droid_2011.png ?

Where did you see a plain BD....all the images when I just searched 9494 came up with that BD with the printing on it. :classic:

If I remember correctly, the developers asked a member of eurobricks (cavegod or others, one of the bigger MOCers anyway) to copy the outstanding mechanism he had come up with for the wings. I suppose that using an engine at the time would have led to criticism since a cheaper and working option had already been succesfully used. (However, as I said, an engine could have made sense because the gears make the wings close reeeeally slowly. It must be said, though, that it is a problem related to the kind of mechanism in itself, so it could not be avoided with such pieces).

JediNews has a trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic game. Could this be the source of the rumored summer 2012 set?

http://www.jedinews....spx?newsID=5873

Yeah, those awesome trailers of the upcoming SWTOR game has been making the rounds on the internet recently, and that could be where the rumored EU 2012 set will be based on, but we still have no confirmation so far.

If your saying that I meant a plain BD (which I think you are), I meant that the one in 9494 doesn't have that light tan printing on the front but only the dark red body.

Thank you very much for the information and the pics! :classic:

Now finally my judgement on the first half of 2012 SW OT sets:

9493 X-Wing Starfighter :classic:

-design is ok

-nice new minifigure and droid

-I'm missing some sort of transport vehicle, a small base of something similar to that

9492 TIE Fighter :classic:

-design is ok

-nice new droid

-new Imp. Trooper's helmet looks bad

-since they did a new torso design for the Imp. Officer, it's really a shame that TLG didn't give him a different and new rank

9495 Gold Leader's Y-Wing Starfighter :classic:

-design is ok

-nice two new minifigures and droid

9489 Endor BP :classic:

-speeder bike looks ok

-tree is nice addition

-black-suited Imp. Officer is missing

-backpacks for the Endor Rebels are missing

9490 Droid Escape

-good design of the escape pod

-bike is nice addition

-great to get a white shoulder pattern

-only the overdetailed torso and headgear printings on the Sandtroopers are bad (TLG should have used the regular Stormtroppers for Sandtroopers (like they did before, too))

I'm happy that we'll get a fleesh Lobot.

That there will be a new Jabba's Palace is great. Hopefully TLG takes this chance and won't make that a shame out of it like they did with this year's Hoth Echo Base (which because of its over-<insert that tiresome argument> style don't buy).

A new Dessert Skiff is of course welcome, too, but please with minimum one new minifigure.

I agree with most of what you said. Maybe i am a little less critical than you are. When the prices become final, the critique might become a little more serious. ATM i still hope for some shift towards a better balance between Europe and the US.

What i quote above is perfect agreement. While i assume that the playing feature (the one with the high rail) of 7879 is intended to be used with the new X-Wing, i would have highly applauded to some feature within the X-Wing set. Naboo Fighter and the old Imperial Inspection had such which made them tons more appealing.

Well, something different: I am made a stand still that there isn't more about EP I. It's 3-D release next year is expected to be the headliner for the SW year. But we will see just so little in terms of LEGO about it - moreover not even a single system set. Why that? In the eyes of many fans, the film probably isn't the best of the hexalogy but still it is the opener of the saga. And most likely THE headliner of next year's SW theme merchandise. Probably the key to win the next generation of SW fans.

Is it possible that TLG keeps something back to surprise us all? Are the leaked infos final and absolute?

The winter sets are final, but we don't know very much about the summer special edition sets. What we do know is that one of these sets will include Queen Amidala, which means we will get at least one Menace set.

Besides, the new box design of every 2012 set shows Darth Maul, one of the most important characters from Episode 1.

We just got a bunch of Menace sets in the last wave. With what will almost certainly be a couple years dominated by Clones and Sith sets coming up, my guess is that TLG decided to give us a good amount of OT sets in this wave to get their main OT sets updated before they go into PT waves full blast.

Exactly. They want to get the main ships and characters of the OT out before they leave it behind for several years. I just hope that they don't do an OT wave in the middle of the AOTC wave I'v been waiting for since 2008!:tongue:
