That TIE is probably around £45.00, about the same as the TIE Defender isn't it?

I would expect the TIE to be £40 and the X-wing £50. I hope the cannon and escape pod to be £21.99 sets but it is more likely they will be £25.99. :sceptic:

Heya guys. I know I don't follow this topic too much these days but I did have a bit of a scan and Couldn't find this. Feel free to burn me if it's been seen (I won't deeplink because it says confidential).

Hoth Game: On my Flickr

In case it hasn't been seen, Enjoy

Looks pritty average IMO, But I spose TLG's hoping they'll sell. They might just be testing the market I spose.

I really love the New TIE, But there's no way I'm paying that for it. Great design though. I would have liked a bit more of an intresting parts pack from the Endor BP but It's still good enough for me to want a few

Wow those are the EXACT SAME PRICES as we've had in our first post of this topic for weeks.

Wow - I'm stunned - I never thought it would be the EXACT SAME PRICES - really!

I'm at a loss here - it's not just close it's the EXACT SAME PRICES...

See where I'm coming from?:wink:

I haven't checked the first post for weeks..... Darn.

Sorry about that, really should be checking the first post more often like I did before I was a member.

But still, I thought the TIE would be $30, maybe $40, but $50? That's ridiculous! :cry_sad:

And I thought that I might be able to get multiples....... :cry_sad:

You can still get multiples, just wait for the 3 for 2 offers. If you thought the TIE would be $40 you would pay $120 for 3. If you get a 3 for 2 at $50 you will be saving $20!

And just remember that most of us in the world would kill to pay $50, we will probably pay £50 which today is $80!! and the median US wage is above the UK.

Still having said that I've got some money burning a hole in my pocket so BRING ON THE NEW SETS!!!! "whooooooooooo!"

Im going to cry when they convert this to AU :cry_sad: The X-wing will be like heaps close to $100 now that is just plain ridiculous!

Why does LEGO ask for so much of our money when they know they are going to get so much anyway :cry_sad:

right there with you :pir_bawling:

But I'll just buy them all from bricklink.

I'll just wait a bit longer before getting them, I picked a unopened ARC Fighter up from amazon for £30 a month ago, I don't really want the X-Wing or Y-Wing desperately so I'll get them when the prices go down a lot, but the TIE I'll have to get soon 'cos I really want that DS Trooper.

Posted

well luckily so far therte are no sets i want apart from the sebulba planet set and then again it's probably cheaper to by him from bricklink...

Yeah, I know how it is in the rest of the world, for some reason TLG gives us Americans the best prices when they aren't even based here.

Good point about the 3 for 2 deals, but that doesn't happen very often around me. :sceptic:

My partner and wallet are not going to like to Aussie conversion. I'm a sucker and need to get all the sets I can aford and get my hands on.

Anyone in the states want to accept my shippments and re-send to me in Australia. Im sure I could workout deals with free shipping and then post to Australia for way less that the retail for those larger sets plus giving the shipper a few bucks for handeling charges. Get a $220AU set for only $100 US, free shipping, low priority mail from the states around $40, pay handeling fees of $20-30 = save around $50 give or take. Thats a free Tie fighter or a driod escape and Geonosian cannon.

Guys, posts on prices have already been moved once to the correct topic. Please don't continuously mire this one in price discussion.

Overall, I've seen a lot of negative attitudes towards the sets themselves in this wave, and I'm wondering where it's coming from. I'm not going to buy them all of course, but that's just not what I do anyway. I think the new Tie Fighter looks amazing, and the X-Wing is quite a good redesign and comes with some nice figures. For anybody who does not have an X-Wing especially, this is a good rendition to pick up, and frankly it's been a long time since they did the X-Wing despite it still being on the shelves all this time. The Y-Wing is ok, though I liked the last cockpit design better.

I quite like the Clone Wars sets myself as well. I guess the cannons in both the BP and the Geonosis set are pretty lame, but the figure complement in each set by far makes up for it. The Geonosis set especially is a good source of parts in interesting colors, even if the design is poor.

The only sets that really don't impress me are the Endor BP, Escape Pod, and Jedi Interceptor. I understand why the Endor BP will be exciting to some, but honestly a crappy tree and another speeder don't do it for me, and I already have Endor Rebels. I know that the stormie and one rebel are newly designed, but it's not different enough to be exciting. The Escape Pod I just find a really lame set. Honestly, what is anybody (especially kids) going to do with an Escape Pod? It just seems like a poor excuse to make a set with some Sandtroopers. Give us a Cantina instead, even a small one. Finally, I find the Interceptor to be an ugly, oversized model that is worse than the the older versions. Coupled with the fact that Anakin is ugly as hell and that the little Mustafar platform/droid are thrown in for little reason or use, this is a really dumb set.

I kind of disagree about the escape pod-- after all, there was an escape pod set in 2001 that didn't even have sandtroopers in it, so it's hard to argue that they'd be the only selling point for the model. Granted, I don't have sales figures for the original Droid Escape, but evidently LEGO thought it was noteworthy enough to justify a set back then, so perhaps they feel the same today.

As for the Endor battle pack, I personally think that it's a pretty excellent set. While the tree isn't too impressive, people who buy more than one battle pack could easily build it into one larger tree or more. Also, I certainly don't mind speeder bikes in sets-- while they are common, they're also extremely well-designed these days IMO. My main criticism of the set is that the scout trooper isn't redesigned (seriously, he feels out-of-date next to the new Stormtrooper or even classic Stormtroopers). But with one of the rebel troopers having a brand-new torso print, this set seems perfect for filling out a Battle of Endor scene-- with the exception, of course, that there are not any Ewoks.

Most of the haters of these sets are accuracy sticklers (sorry Fallenangel). I personally see nothing wrong with any of these sets, with the exception of two things: The cannon in the CW BP and the ugly-as-hell Anakin. The rest of the sets are actually some of the best sets I've ever seen. TLG is getting more new pieces to make better, more accurate sets, and most of the 2011/12 sets show this. The Anakin JSF is great except for the before mentioned uglyfig. The CW BP is acceptable, as I will always welcome more Pearl Gold. The Endor BP is acceptable, aside from the lack of Ewoks. The Geonosian Cannon is great, even though it is oversized and has some badly-designed flickfire platforms. The OT sets are quite good as well, and I will be picking them all up once I get the funds. The JSF is very good, and I even like that Anakin. The way I'm going to solve his face issue is simply to replace it. The Obi-Wan is exellent, as is Nute Gunray and the new starfighter. If I find this early, I will pick it up, as it is one of my favorite sets of the wave and looks well worth the money. All in all, this is one of the best waves I have seen, and would only be topped if 2013 has a CTT, a RGS, and an AT-TE in one wave. :classic:

There doesn't need to be any Ewoks, there was a Ewok tree last wave, BP's are about main faction troopers, not natives (Except the Mando's and Assassin Droids )

Personally, I do neither like nor dislike the Endor battlepack. I would have liked more Stormtroopers, but since the set is limited to four minifigs, two rebells make sense for the sake of diversity.

I would have prefered an Endor "Imperials" battlepack (2 Stormies, 1 Scout, 1 Imperial Trooper) and an Endor "Rebels" battlepack (2 Rebells, 2 Ewoks), but apparently Lego made the choice to change the general design of battlepacks. I would have prefered the "old" design for the TCW battlepacks as well, but that's a different thing.

Posted

I'm a big fan of the newly designed battle packs for two reasons: (1) both factions are represented, which means troop building can happen at an equal rate for Rebels and Imperials. (2) The "extras" (tree, speeder bike, and cannon) are actually canon and very useful (i.e. buying multiple Endor BP's means you can build a bigger tree).

I don't see why any BP can't be about having any minifigures that are meant to be bought in multiples. I probably would have preferred a separate Rebel and Imperial BP, given the choice, but getting cheap army builders in any capacity is alright by me.

It is the equal building rate that annoys me. Storm troopers always outnumber the rebels. Droid outnumber clones 100-1. So it means getting a faction you want more of costs more

That's the very reason why, in this instance, the new style BPs are wrong! The rebels should be outnumbered - that's why they needed the ewoks.

We all know the rebel's were out numbered by stormtroopers, etc., but kids don't care they just want troops and parents/grandparents just buy one BP at a time hence you get two good guys and two bad guys simple....plus it's either OT or CW too !

Like this year how many bomb expert clones did we need eh ?
