surrideo Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 (edited) The thing thats sometimes forgotten here. And yes I know its an adult forum. Lego is a toy primarily and how many kids will be buying multiple battle packs for armies?. They get some "goodies" and "baddies" all in the one set. The adult market is an important one to lego, but not the biggest one. From a parents point of view it represents better value for money when you get two of each faction in a battle pack. Especially for sets that will be bought on an impulse rather than the bigger sets for birthdays/xmas etc. Edited October 29, 2011 by surrideo Quote
Mr Man Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Personally, I do neither like nor dislike the Endor battlepack. I don't see why any BP can't be about having any minifigures that are meant to be bought in multiples. I probably would have preferred a separate Rebel and Imperial BP, given the choice, but getting cheap army builders in any capacity is alright by me. I did prefer the old BP's, it's just if where stuck with the new ones we need more troops rather than Ewoks. The "extras" (tree, speeder bike, and cannon) are actually canon and very useful (i.e. buying multiple Endor BP's means you can build a bigger tree). Getting more Imperial or Republic hardware is great, but the tree is a bit silly really. We all know the rebels were out numbered by stormtroopers, etc., but kids don't care they just want troops and parents/grandparents just buy one BP at a time hence you get two good guys and two bad guys simple....plus it's either OT or CW too ! Like this year how many bomb expert clones did we need eh ? The thing that's sometimes forgotten here. And yes I know its an adult forum. Exactly it's a children's toy, that we all just happen to like . Quote
legolandia Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Most of the haters of these sets are accuracy sticklers They come, they hate, but they all buy them. Not sure how to say that in Latin Quote
Fallenangel Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 They come, they hate, but they all buy them. Not sure how to say that in Latin For your information, the only sets I've bought since 2008 are 8017, 7778, and 8099. Quote
Piranha Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 well for me all these sets are really good overall in terms of the model includes, the features and the assortment of figs. I am just glad there are no more terrible midi scale sets, pointless to me, when SW went on sale here all the good sets got taken except the midi scale models, dozens of boxes on the shelves at steep discounted price. Judging from that I would assume they were very poor sellers, and it is easy to see why. Quote
Fallenangel Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Because a UCS-esque set at $40 was unheard of? The midi-scale sets weren't terrible; they were solid, well-designed, and great for parts. It's just that they didn't make good toys... there were no play features, bright colors, or minifigures. Quote

I couldn't be happier with my 8099 - I only kick myself for not buying more when they were 50% off at the Brand Stores. Quote
Hollander Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 (edited) What's so bad about the Midi Falcon and Star Destroyer? The SD was accurate if you ask me and good for display. And it got you all covered if you was hunting for wedge plates. Agreed. I couldn't be happier with my 8099 - I only kick myself for not buying more when they were 50% off at the Brand Stores. I kick myself for not living in France or the UK, as I can't import the 8099 from Amazon to my country, where it's about half the price compared to Holland. Edited October 29, 2011 by Hollander Quote
Ceroknight Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 I can see where macoco is coming from, the MIDIs weren't the biggest eye catchers... And it seemed silly to buy one for $50 at that time Quote

sealslip3 Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 So I'm curious about a couple things: 1. Any word on a price for the Jedi Interceptor? I'm guessing it will be $30-$40, but I'm not sure if anyone's heard anything. 2. Can anyone read the writing on the top of the Endor BP box underneath the rebel commando? It looks like a name but I can't make it out... Quote
Ceroknight Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 They were $40, which seemed in line with set prices at the time... Canadian Also because of the size of the MIDI and the lack of minifigures, there are some sets that looks more appealing. Anyways, so the Skiff set, or Jabba's Palace are not yet proven legitimate yet right? Quote
UCSProductions1 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Most of these sets are great even though most of them are remakes i still like that Lego is improving old designs making them better or just more accurate to the films. I think the planet sets are questionable but if the come out well i'll consider buying a few of them Quote

We've not had any pics yet or much concrete info but KimT has put it on the frontpage so I'm expecting it to happen, and if it doesn't I will tear my garments in half and beat my chest in Lamentation. A new Jabba's palace was on the cards anyway. Quote

Couldn't resist a little PS tweaking and possibly nothing is revealed; EDIT: I think it just says (something, probably Endor) 'Rebel Trooper' although it looks like the first word could be 'sexy' to me Edited November 1, 2011 by Praiter Yed Quote

Follows Closely Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Agreed. I couldn't be happier with my 8099 - I only kick myself for not buying more when they were 50% off at the Brand Stores. Still dirt cheap: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=91475 Quote

Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Umm, just took a look at the pics on page 1 again. We still have no set where Queen Amidala would be present. Now, i wonder whether there could be an exclusive set for her to show up last minute. Is there any chance that something like 'Theed Palace' could put us in delight in the winter wave? Is it more likely to happen in summer? What do you think? Quote

So far we haven't seen any summer sets (to my knowledge). Quote
