Ok here are new pics.

I would love hand rails but unfortunately I don't have any. So chains for now.

I hide the ugly receiver this time.

Also extended the Engine 'bout 3 inches or so.

Well......

220 some views and no replys?

Is it that bad?

Its still a WIP.

Im going to extend the cab and hood i think.

I will post pictures soon.

Not bad at all actually. And with a few minor tweaks it could become an excellent model.

If I may suggest, I would go for a more uniform colour, perhaps keeping the grey frame with white safety band but going for a more uniform red on the hood. I agree that lengthening the hood by a few studs will help achieving more realistic proportions. And perhaps get rid of a few of the grills on the roof, I don't think they really match the real-life locomotive that well. The round tiles or equivalent are a better choice there.

Anyway, you have a good starting model -- and it's nice to see a Canadian one for a change!

Ive been meaning to comment but I don't like to be the first. Its not a bad start at all but I agree with the uniform color thing like Fugazi said. The grills are a bit of a distraction, you should try round fans on the top as this is more prototypical. I would also suggest removing the chains and install a hand rail system. Overall with some tweaking it could really stand out as a great model. It's a great start for your first one and I'd like to see the finished product. CP rail models are hard to come by as it is so this could be a very cool model.

You need to deeplink the images:

Syntax:

{img}link to image{/img}

Use brackets for the {}.

But watch that double posting and/or topic bumping. If you don't get responses, it's either that the creation is not impressive or some members do not have any comment. Image quality sometimes has a bearing as well. You may get a comment at a later date if you wait for it.

Nice MOC, also if it's very similar to BNSF or Maersk locomotive

I like this kind of color (white and red)

Do you think to put some PF lights on your model? I miss them on Maersk train :hmpf_bad:

Note

Your nick name and your avatar are great!

My name is my two passions. Superman and Lego.( just guess at my excitement or the new dc heroes line)

It started out as an exact duplicate of the bnsf.

The more i looked at it, the more i wanted to change it.

so last night i extended the front. Unfortunately i didnt have a bigger base plate so i threw some bricks together.

im trying to uniform the colours(not a spelling mistake) more everyday.

i dont want to start a new topic so i'll erase on pic and replace with new later.

please everyone i would like some pointers and comments,

thank-you.

Its a nice start; and the improved photos look good. EB is a great place to get constructive feedback on how to make models look better...

The name CP rail keeps ringing a bell in my mind... so for those interested I list some ricardo (swiss ebay) links to some similar models being sold by someone.

Custom SD40

Custom SD60

Custom BNSF SD40

These can provide a good inspiration on how to finish the CP Rail... Also if memory serves me correctly, Custom CP Rail locos sometimes appear on Ebay (Canada and USA). I normally have a search running for Lego Custom Train to find those. They can also provide a good inspiration on how to finish the model.

I hide the ugly receiver this time.

Still, on the sides of the train, you have some nice details in the middle of the train, but then in the back there is suddenly a square sticker of a different color.

As for the pieces, the hobby train set 10183 probably has all the pieces that you want (the best thing about 10183 is the instructions for 30 models, written by AFOL's, that contain lots of good ideas).

The only thing im missing is those slanted pieces that are black in red. Right above the battery box.

other than than that i wish i could put more pics on here. Still a fresh noob on that part.

If anyone can give me step by step instructions on how to put more in would be great.

Thanks for the input.

My inspiration comes from googlin cp engines.

thanks for the criticism, looking forward to more.

I really want that red covering for the battery box.

Dont forget that the red box actually only turns the dark bluish grey --> red. The light bluish grey top of the box remains; it would leave a light bluish grey plate running the length of the truck. The only real way to get a completely red side would be to use a large plate mounted vertically, as done on the Maersk train. A couple of 4x6 tiles with 12 studs would look good for that.

The white ariels as horns does look good. The hand rails at front and back might be a bit too wide (at 8 studs) but not a big problem. The use of the 1x2 bricks with slots does provide a more industrial feel. My feeling is that a solid baseplate colour would be better; changing the light bluish grey sections to white would give it a more uniform feeling.

Ok guys I uniformed the colours. The base is all white now.

I also added hand rails! Had to wreck a sponge-bob set but it was worth it.

Check it out.

Well I think wrecking Spongebob whoever unleashed the creative potential; it looks much sleeker and more elegant.

Much, much better. Looks good. Removing those chains was one of the best things you could have done. It really brought out a better look to it.

Now do you see? And you were worried.

"If you build it, they will come".

It's really come along from your original post. Keep up the good work.

You're doing great! Much improved since your first attempt.

Now if you want to improve it even more, a few details that could use some work:

- the CP Rail multimark (logo) should be the other way 'round, with the arrow pointing forward.

- the lights on the rear of the hood should be clear just like the front ones, not red.

- no lights of any kind on the equipment box behind the cab.

- that area behind the cab that I'm calling the equipment box should probably be much smaller or absent altogether if you want to emulate an older 4-axle unit. I would shorten the cab and end it square, none of that smooth sloping down.

Looking slicker and slicker.

For photos; get yourself a brickshelf or flickr account (I prefer flickr). You can then get BB code or HTML code directly from Flicker website and add into threads here. Search through EB and you will find various tutorials.

Now the loco is looking pretty good; give yourself a big pat on the back.

I created a brickshelf account, but it says the folder is not yet public.

Does anyone know what this means? And how do i make it public?

You guys are gonna love the pics.

Plus i added something new that i built this mornin.

Brickshelf items need to be moderated before they are available as public. Sometimes it can take a while... but then it is up.

K, thanks bro.

I cant wait for you guys to see.

Fantastic MOC, brilliant details and a good colour scheme. You need to deeplink the pictures though, a tutorial to post deeplinked images from Brickshelf can be found here. :classic:
