Dino_Bot Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Personally, I'm liking these better, but...like...I don't know...they still lack airtight cabins...I like the big white and red one, those Taka Swords are very VERY nice. Then there's ClawCrusher, which I'm assuming is a small set, I'd love to get 20 of those plus the crawlers. And the one with the yellow sword and blue wings looks...old style space to me, which is wonderful. Some good old style pieces there. Looks like my droid army isn't going to be merely composed of "loser droids"(i call them that) and super b-droids. But of something even more complex. Wow next year's going to be quite bountiful If I may say so myself. Quote
dillthepill Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Well, I was browsing this forum and I noticed that this topic had a lot more new replies. So, I saw what everyone was talking about, and as I see real pictures ,I start to have different ratings for the sets. I will buy them all. I am a true Exo-Force fan, and I think these are awesome, anyways. 1. Blade Titan. This is my new favorite. The blades seem huge and the armor looks cool, even though the set looks like a skeleton with thin armor. 2. Shadow Crawler. This set is second best, seeing as the box art didn't have to hide much. The armor and weaponry and looks are as cool as I could hope. 3. Cyclone Defender. This looks ten times better than it did on the the box, and the green looks great on Ryo. The weapons are much better than Uplink's, because of the little shooter and the swords. 4. Claw Crusher. From the gatling gun to the claw to the missiles to the color scheme, this mech screams," I am evil!"This is the biggest improvement for the robots, considering how crappy Sentries were. The Exo-Force heroes won't beat these with ease as they did with Sentries. 5. I couldn't decide between the two, so I think Iron Condor and Sky Guardian is a tie. The Sky Guardian hid a lot of weak spots on the box art, so this isn't my second favorite anymore, although I didn't think that the sword would light up like others did. The Iron Condor is cool, but definitely lacks organization on the cockpit/wing area. Quote

jeffrey Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Blade titan ,Cyclone Defender,Claw Crusher are my best three. Blade titan got the cool shield and wide armor *y* Quote
KMOI Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I agree with hinckley completely. We got to remember that this is from AMA-we-occasionally-use-pictures-of-misbuilt-sets-as-final-product-ads-ZON. They don't always put pictures of correctly built sets up on the product pages all the time. Remember the Bohrok Va? I think we got the same situation here. If you take a look at the Blade Titan, you'll see that one side of the cockpit is raised up. Also, Ryo is leaning forwards and so is the screen. The codes are also wrong, as I'm sure "Exo code" is a stand in for the real codes that we saw on the box art. Finally, on the Iron Condor, the hinges connecting the two sets of wings aren't the ones we saw on the "leaked" box art. These are, as hinckley mentioned, spread eagle poses to just show off the overall look. I've read the reactions so far and I just say that you've got to balance the final box art and the prototype photos to really make an educated call. Though I'm not going to pick on any nitty gritty details that are most likely going to be changed by the final product, I have a few issues with parts of the sets that we know are final. The biggest shock about seeing these pics was that the quadruped is revealed to be a walking Tripod. I mean honestly, how on EARTH do they think this machine is going to be tearing up the battle when it has enough difficulty walking? Another gripe is that the human's spinning weapons are mounted on far too short, making it extremely easy for the Blade Titan to cripple itself. Also, I'm not really liking how small that 2x2 ball-joint hinge came out. It really makes everything too small, as shown by the rather stubby arms of the Iron Condor. On the bright side, it does work very well on that robot claw suit! I am rather disappointed by the forearms of the Sky Guardian though. I don't know what in the world LEGO was thinking by strapping Metru pelvis parts onto it, other than how they're going to push MOCers to get the Claw mech just to patch up the forearm. In terms of design, I'm rather impressed by the execution of some of the sets. In terms of weaponry, they really amped up the Titan and Hunter. Instead of the Grand Titan's gattling gun, we now have a gattling CANNON, which is sure to do much more damage. Now that we have a better picture, we can finally tell that the Sky Guardian has more firepower. In addition to the Zamor-launcher/energy grenade-launcher, we have the original rifle barrel, which means I won't have to buy an Uplink if I needed the piece. X-D Also, they've given us the enclosed cockpits people were screaming about, so it's not as bad as one thinks. I really do wish that instead of having the 2x2 hinges, they would have made it 2x3 piece instead. Maybe then will the Iron Condor be the menacing beast it's supposed to be. Because currently, the only thing that claw will hit is the cockpit itself. |-/ In terms of theme, it's not so bad! I can see LEGO wants to make a go for a new, "lite" look for the humans' mechs really turned out well. The robots look great too, considering they're supposed to be thin, but menacing looking skeletons, like Barbossa's cursed Pirate crew. However, I can't see how the Sky Guardian is supposed to defend ANYTHING with that weaponry. It looks like it's suited more for lightning-fast blitzes on enemy squadrons rather than holding the line against invading forces. It's like trying to counter force with force. It may work, but it'll look really akward. 8-| Anyways, I'll be sure to pick up the Sky Guardian for the pieces rather than for the set itself, but I'll be sure to post a review when I get it! Quote
Cabby Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I wasn't too excited with what the boxart showed on those new models. Now visuals for the actual sets are just disappointing. The bulky look i liked (on Grand Titan for instance) disappeared and they all look too thin now. Some sets look like a chance to grab some interesting color / parts combos but i think i'll pass on most of them. *sad* Especially since Aqua Raiders and City sets are likely to hog most of my budget too. :-$ Quote
dillthepill Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Hey, I just noticed something. It looks like the robots still have color in 2007! The Shadow Crawler has a green pilot, the Iron Condor has red, and I can't see the color of the Claw Crusher's pilot but it is most likely blue. Just wanted to point it out. Quote
KMOI Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Yep! It really seems that the robots are really aiming to do infiltration missions this time around, rather than just a brute force campaign. Guess this is a good time to send in the Devestator-class robots instead of the bronze drones! Oh, and the more and more I think about it, the Sky Guardian actually has a good design. It really seems that they're trying to make the lightest and fastest mech while dropping ALOT of armour. Well, I guess it's kinda nice to have a speed oriented mech! :-P Quote
dillthepill Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Exactly. 2007 looks like a great year. They are just taking off a lot of armor to make it lighter. And don't forget the few sets that they will have before summer besides these. Maybe they will make better sets, like a Gate Assault sort of scene with a lot of small machines(hopefully they contain HaYaTo *sweet* ). And they will probably make a few special editions. For most of you it may be a bad start, but there are plenty of other sets they'll make. Quote
xenologer Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Humh Now heres a cool idea (that they probably won't ever do) A Robot Factory either actually building Iron Drones (big minifig pack) or the smaller mecha (kinda like the Racers Tuner Garage set, but with robots) Quote
xenologer Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Am I the only one who suddenly realized, that Shadow Crawler, has only 3 legs? not 4? X-O Quote
mutex Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Am I the only one who suddenly realized, that Shadow Crawler, has only 3 legs? not 4? X-O We think we all noticed this already. Kind of a letdown.. :-( It should be cool with striking venom but 4 legs would have been waaaaayyy better.... Quote
natelite Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 if you look closely at the design you will notice it is quite easy to moc a fourth leg, so no worries here. sucks to have to buy more set for mocing though...but on the other hand you get more shooters for brikwar games! it's actually quite fun. you can pretend that it's a high energy, desperation move. one shot one kill. works well too since the range is rather short and limit its usage to either lucky shot or close range annihilation.
