I interpret the word "tank" as "armor".

Ex:

Mantax

Mantax lurks in the darkness and sneak-attacks his opponents from behind. He is equipped with thick armor that has poisonous red spikes, and strong pincers.

Carapar

Carapar is two times wide as he is long. With his long arms and enormous claws, he masters each obstacle. He is nearly invulnerable thanks to his thick armor

One of the names doesn't match up with the description. *wacko*

For instance;

Mantax- is most likely manta as in 'manta ray' and in latin manto means to stay, or wait.

This name corresponds more closely to the Pridak description.

Pridak- not sure where this is derived, possibly 'predator'.

Takadox- not sure of this one either. It sounds like japanese/latin *wacko*

Kalmah- is likely calamari, another name for squid. this matches the description

Carapar- is likely carapace as in a crabs exoskeleton. this also matches the description.

Barakki- the group title, is quite similar to barracuda.

Anyway, the line is sounding better all the time.

ghoulrealm: Nice connnections, but the names for Bionicle characters haven't always been true to their meanings... ^^

Well, excluding the entire 2001 naming...

Man, all the SW fans have gotten their pics, all the Exo-Force guys got theirs, the Town got theirs... sorta.. and so did Aquaraider waiters... when are we going to get leaked pics of 2007 sets?

That ''slamming shut'' might actually just have been ''striking'' or attacking''.

German sounds a lot like Dutch, right?Well, let's literally translate ''slamming shut'' into Dutch. It means ''dichtslaan''.

However,''toe'' is another word for ''dicht'' (shut).

That makes it ''toeslaan''.However,''toeslaan'' does not mean slamming shut in Dutch-it means striking,or attacking.

So the translation probably took the wrong meaning of ''toeslaan'' (or however it sounds like in German).

Hope that helps. :-)

I hope, with every fiber of my being, that it's not because one of them has a stingray appearance... and that Lego wants to either greatly delay or completely PULL the figure due to the Steve Irwin thing.

I mean heck, they did it a few years ago with Alpha Team after the World Trade Center was destroyed... set 6776 had 120,000 units RECALLED, never to be re-distributed, because it supposedly somehow resembled the WTC disaster with an image of destruction on the back of the box (or something?), as well as the instructions showing Ogel flying a vehicle towards a city skyline in the comic, followed by dropping mind control bombs (I must've missed those events on 9/11).

And look... it looked nothing like it:

So I'm not just talkin' out my butt here. I sincerely hope I'm wrong though. :-|

Jinzo, that would be a little ridiculous, though... just because the Croc Hunter bit the dust because of a stingray, they won't produce any stingray sets? Sure, it was a tragedy, but he died doing what he wanted to do. I really don't think that Lego would do it, and I pray to god that I'm right.

Sounds like the green guy from the book cover has been found.

I've had enough of this 'Next years sets aren't clones!!' and 'No, I meant another set of six'. I see two sets of identical build there. And one which is boring. I'm getting no buzz from these whatsoever.

Those are better than the trash Matoran we've gotten the last few years... but the real problem is those TERRIBLE Bohrok leg parts.

Such worthless crap that should've been retired after their initial appearance.

I probably won't get any of these, JUST for that reason alone.

Only 3. Where's Thulox?

I've wondered for quite some time why you think the Bohrok legs are crud, Jinzo. I've seen people use them fine before. I really think its more that your building style is so unlike almost everybody elses (not meant as a putdown. Your bulding style is awesome. ;-) ).

Toa Tilus, it seems that you are overreacting a bit. I mean, how many kits do you see there? That's right, 3. How can you be so sure that the missing 3 are going to be exactly like those 3? They could be totally different, since we don't know anything about them! Another thing: Don't you realize that this is the first time ever that we have 2 small kits in the same year that look nothing like each other? Morak is so different from the other 2, which makes me partly jump up for joy! Why? Because this could mean that there are more different small sets besides Morak. Now, don't get me wrong, but I'm afraid your basing your comment on just those 2 matoran, that so far, are the only 2007 clone sets we know of. They could be prototypes for all we know! But even if they aren't, I and probably many other people would get both of them just for the awesome masks and weapons. Since when have we had a light green or yellow mask? Not since 2003 and 2001.

I'm not trying to say you're dumb or anything (learned my lesson a while ago). I'm just saying you should give TLC a chance. I'm also saying that you may be feeling this way about Bionicle because you're feeling this way about everything! To quote you,"2007 is looking a bit bleak for me." You can feel that way if you want, nobody can stop you, nor should have a right to, but if I were you, I'd be a bit more optomistic. ;-)

Edit: BZP had the pictures up for about a half an hour, then took them down just now. Seems we are dealing with more leaks....

Ooooh, two sets that look the same. So what? Garan and Velieka (or however it is spelled, I can't remember how Bionicle names are spelled ever since the Visorak.) had the same build, while the other Doomatoran were different. Plus, they're all the matoran-sized sets! That quadrapod is totally unique against those Matoran, which don awesome masks, by the way. Are those new tools?

I guess Zamor Launchers are the new thing... Meh.

Yeah, you're right Grievous... with just about everything you said.

My beef with the Bohrok limbs is that they aren't as useful as the other limbs (expect maybe for those BAD bell-bottom monstrosities from the Toa Nuva). The bohrok limbs serve purposes sometimes, but not enough to validate their frequent production. Most of the mocs I see them in, they're used just wrong.

But yeah, my building style is a big reason I hate them so. They just look like they were made without any concern for other uses... It's hard to deny they were a step down from the Throwbot and Bionicle limbs that preceded them.

But yeah, these little sets are better than I initially thought. The sight of the Bohrok limbs made me ignorant momentarily.

Masks in new colors... yay!

And the blue set is great because you don't have to buy someone $9.99 or more just to get those needle-like leg pieces.

Ok, no more crying from me. They ARE good. X-D

Edit: BZP had the pictures up for about a half an hour, then took them down just now. Seems we are dealing with more leaks....

I like how these "leaks" are so timed. I find it hard to believe they're accidental in nature lol.

In less than 2 weeks, we'll see the 4th guy, and possibly better pics of these ones, complete with a mildly altered box.

It'll happen. Why would THIS year's "leaks" be any different? lol

Posted

Last year's "leaks" were in bulk, actually, Jinzo. The Piraka pics and the Matoran all appeared at once, with some badly-rendered pics of the two 19.99 Titans. Hopefully, we'll see pics of these "Canister sets that make the original Toa look like clones" soon.

The Morak reminds me of a Gafna, from the VNOG...

Seeing as how these are the "minion"-type sets, I'll reserve my judgement on the 2007's season of Bionicle. I tend to ignore these types of sets, but I will pick one up if they have good colours or good parts. And for the most part, these look amazing! I just love the hand daggers! There's absolutely endless possibilities for them! And there's also those nice "thin" armour pieces to boot! It's the perfect weapons pack for both Bionicle Matoran modifications and Exo-Force!

And on a side note, I think Jinz might be refering to the Inika leak. Jala was the first to be seen from the calender and the rest were shown afterwards. Or at least I think that's how it went down. :-P

There are only 4 next year. I'm assuming the other one looks like the Rahi fellow. Anyhoo, the clones this year were well-designed. These...aren't, IMO.

I'm saying the Matoran pics show up, first a bit prototypey, then crisper versions show up.

Look at the boxes on these guys... no obligatory text going around the outside of the box, pics mildly hazy... they're placeholder pics.

If you launch your eyes at them really far in, you might also think these are all CGI models too. Every edge on every box, every shadow underneath... identical.

We'll see the "real" boxes soon is all I'm sayin'. :-)

Are Matoran EVER designed well? Lol, I'd say not. But as parts sources, these guys are good. There's yellow goin' on, another green kanohi, those leggy spider pieces, launchers in new colors. Really, it's the damned Bohrok limbs messing them up.

I want those pieces to die, allowing these 2 useful piece to come in new colors:

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=47300

Get THOSE pieces in new colors. They do the same function as the Bohrok limbs, but they're thinner in the center, allowing them to be hidden better. The Bohrok limbs are these sad, fat things that are awkward just about anywhere.

Except for the Bohrok X-D .

Anyhoo, the 2007 microsets look nice. The Rahi thingy reminds me of the Gafna from VNOLG...
