Hmm, Aqua raiders, this will be interesting, I hope it's more like Divers than Aquazone.

Same here, they did Aquazone and Aquanauts a while back and I wasn't very fond of it. Divers was so much cooler because people could relate to it. The names of the sets suggest a modern theme, but the line name itself has already been done. There were 3 sets with neon green and black colors released in 1997, #s 2160, 2161, and 2162.

Edit: on second glance at the Aquaraiders set names, the line could be a combination of fantastic elements and real life elements. The treasure hunters and shipwreck sets could be pretty modern and similar to the old divers. The sets with the giant animals could be more in line with the old aquazone sets and more fantastic/sci-fi in nature.

i think the aquaraiders (from aquazone) were pretty well designed. just need some expansion, like structures, not just vehicles.

i do agree that the aquazone and space themes are very similar in content... both futuristic sci-fi settings, each theme exploring unknown worlds. one exploring space and one theme exploring the depths of the ocean.

BTW, where does the current (if any) aquazone disscussion take place here on EB... should be space, IMO.

Funny how for a tiny while Lego did make an AquaRaiders faction with the Hydronauts and Stingrays (Aquazone 2nd Generation) and now they're calling a different brand by the same name.

I just got home from watching POTC2 which I really really enjoyed (more on that in the appropriate forum) to discover THAT !!

we'll probably need some more than a prayer, but who knows? if aquaraiders turns out to be successful... but then, we have no clue what soever how this theme will look like... it could go both ways... still, there was a rumour not that long ago that would revive an old theme, i guess we know now what that is...

Are you guys seriously liking those horrendous aquaraiders, aqua shark sets ?? Horrendous coulour and design (especially aquasharks) and reall crappy MFs !!

I forsee for that new theme an underwater action crap like Exo Force :-X Trans parts all over, horrendous MFs and ridiculous modern designs !! The only thing beeing good is the accessories and underwater sea life (at least I hope !!).

Lets wait and see but I am far from being optimistic on that :-|

At first, I thought that Giant Lobsters, Tiger Shark were the names of the vehicles (if its the case its going to be crap). However if those sea discovery dudes are looking for marine life, those sets clearly have potential (lobster parts !! FOOOOOOOOOD)

Speaking for the large number of AFOL fire/rescue fans I'm glad they're continuing with the newer fire theme. It's been great since 2004. *sweet*

Both the 7046 Fire Command Craft and the 7239 Fire Truck are widely considered to be among the best fire/rescue sets ever released by Lego. Both were well designed with very little juniorization. So, IMHO, it's been a good theme for Lego getting back to it's roots of quality town building sets (including the new tower crane *wub* )

It's been so much better from the "Town Jr." sets we were getting in 1999.

While not as popular as Star Wars, castle or Mecha, fire/rescue MOCs consistently rank among the most popular Brickshelf uploads in terms of folder hits and sheer number of files. And my kids always rank the fire and police sets on the top of their Christmas lists.

And I can't wait to see the new Star Wars sets! Finally we get a redesigned AT-ST! *sweet*
