I think I've come up with a pretty good assumption of what Aqua Raiders are. Think Viking villains (bionicle/technic beasts) with Dino 2010/Attack heroes. TLC established a story (or at least names) of the Dino characters, so why not continue with them in a new theme?

As much as I would like to see the return of a host of generic divers (not to mention knights, pirates, spacemen, etc.) with one leader who comes in a $5 set and the biggest set, TLC just doesn't seem to like that old idea anymore. They like the idea of 4 Heroes, and it's likely they'll stick with it, and it's possible the Dino guys will return again, this time Underwater, because it has happened before (think Alpha Force).

Ohhhhh...that's an idea I like! deino.gif

searching threw my old catalogues i run into a theme i forgot all about (and for good reason!)

the Rock raiders... http://brickset.com/search.aspx?query=4990

im really afraid the aqua raiders will look smth like this :-X

sceary thought isnt it? :'-(

To be honest, that doesn't look too bad. That theme was available during my dark ages, so I don't know anything about it, but it doesn't look too futuristic or mech-y... ok, I can do without the catapult, but other than that I can even imagine that set to be an underwater exploration station. Sure looks better than that yellow-dark-transblue Aquazone or whatever its name...

What catapult are you talking about? It's a dump.

Rock Riders was a nice theme. I bought them at my coming back from Dark Ages.

My apologies. But as I said, I don't know anything about that line, it just looked like a catapult at first glance...

The raiders better not be the new "dino hunters" line. I hope they are like the adventurers line or like the older raiders.

Things I am predicting for this line regardless of what it is:

-Mermaids- LEGO always uses a mold for more than one set if they can, Harry only had one set with them so I expect to see more of them in a new set. This seems like the best choice.

-Yellow parts- for whatever reason underwater sets at least for the good guys always have yellow parts, Alpha team, divers, the creator sub all of them have a strong focus on yellow. Unless this is a huge departure I think it is safe to say a strong yellow colored theme.

What I would really like to see is a researcher figure, a pilot figure, a leader figure and a mechanic figure. Something along the lines of Futron, with each position having a different color and purpose. They could excavate ocean floors and coral reefs, discover shuken pirate ships loaded with gold and fight off new age "pirates" and see monsters/animals. A heavy focus on exploration and adventure instead of fighting or monstor battling.

Amen.

Indeed !!

There will surely some exploration with the treasure hunter and shipwreck sets but I feel some fight against "Bionicleish" creatures (like the viking ones) for the Giant Lobster, Tiger Shark and Giant Cancer sets !!

Once again I hope I am wrong :-P

If you couldn't tell allready I love monsters *skull*

Altough I can't say I really liked many official TLC mosters, I'ld rather have even bionicleish mosters than more yellow anything. And sharks are completely real and monsterous.

If the subs are based on creatures again, it might be cool if they were similar to 'Disney's Atlantis' designs.

Anything to be more scifi. I'm just not a fan of modern realism.

Tomorrow at Brickfest, at 10am (US time), LEGO hold a keynote session. This is where they usually reveal something new. We've heard that they might be revealing the Aqua Raiders sets, so we can hope!

Sam,

I have a slight memory problem hehe What did we learn last year from Brickfest ? (I just remember the RC trains)

I'm asking just to see the potential of incoming news and not to get my hopes too high (remember the SDCC lack of news) ;-)

Seeing the SW, aquaraiders & fire sets would make my week end much brighter :-P

*yoda*

Well, one year they revealed the Cloud City set, but last year they revealed the new train sets, (although I don't think they were actually shown).

The exact quote was:

Once again, tks Sam for the heads up ;-)

They will most probably unveil the AR line !! I am so sure of it for one reason: the designer creating the AR line is his FIRST line and in the quote it says "This will be Tim

This is a post from Lugent:

Any big announcements this year?

OOooooohhh Yeeeahhhh. (^_^)

But I'm not a great reporter, so I'll allow others to relay the exciting news.

Hopefully we'll see something soon.

I really HATE people like that >:-( If you can't say anything, just shut the megablocks up !! Thats just really aggravating :-|

Anyhow, of course '07 holds more exciting news, thats common knowledge :-| (the bigger and UCS SW sets, more city, another new theme...)

Yeay Sam, lets hope for some quick news ;-)

Apparently they had new Bionicle sets on display - I said in BZP's topic that there may be a display of a couple of new sets, but it was unlikely there'd be any Bionicle, and Omi (the BZP Brickfest guy...) said 'Shows how much you know. ;-) '

Hopefully that won't aggrevate Yoda too much. *y*

Oooh....Maj gallery....sneaky.

Just to clarify, that quote means "Any new announcements this year AT BRICKFEST?" Meaning something was announced or shown off yesterday ;-)

Ok, couple of galleries here.

No new sets shown, though...

Well, so far there have been no pics from the meeting where all the LEGO employees are. When we get the "keynote transcript" (transcript of the interview with LEGO employees), we'll probably find out what was shown.
