August 3, 201113 yr That must be the most brutal Lego thing I have ever seen... what are you trying to re-create? Something from a game or a movie? Whatever it is, it is impressive. If I would build something like this, I should consider leaving the PF-system all together (temporary ignore the purist inside me) and go for proper RC-control for the model. A multi-channel radio control, servos, matching speed regulators, battery packs and motors. Or if you are into electronics, build your own PWM-based motor controllers. As mentioned earlier, battery packs for RC is a better option for this application than Lego PF battery boxes. A fun thing with a project like this would be to add a "brain" to it and remote control the vehicle over wireless LAN from a computer. Adding a web-cam to it, showing a cockpit-view could be nice...
August 3, 201113 yr @ Coen: One could integrate Lego components and RC components using Inanimate Reason's kits. Click on the "Show All Custom Items" link at the left-center of that webpage (in the blue background), and you can see lots of stuff like this to mount RC hobby servo motors:
August 3, 201113 yr This is a big project. Have you already tested your tracks ? I am curious to see how it turns : I fear the tracks could derail easily as they are very long with only a few guidance. Edited August 3, 201113 yr by jojo60
August 4, 201113 yr Author Wasn't there a massive tracked camera vehicle at one of the shows? hey guys, i am going to make a new topic with pictures, i want to thank everyone for their replies. i am not sure what i am going to use for bateries, but we will discuss that on th other topic thnx!!
August 4, 201113 yr Author That's a massive MOC! I can't help thinking that you're wasting motors and adding unnecessary wieght by having 3 motors simply turning battery packs on. Cant you just have the switches on the boxes connected to a lever and axle system? well i need at least 2 motors becouse there are battery packs inside the tank and inside the turret. this cant be connected with an axle system becouse the turret is a stand alone ( no connections between the tank and turret) but the reason i have to use that manny motors is the fact that i want to make al lego technic model that looks like a normal model ( scaled down to the size of a mini figure ) so there isn't that much room. and the objects that i am building wiegh allot so 1 motor doesnt have enough power.
