SpiderSpaceman Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 (edited) Well, a couple of quick phone calls to my local TRU and Learning Express yields some unfortunate results: TRU isn't planning on getting S6 until February, and Learning Express doesn't even have them on order yet. It looks like there's a bit of distribution problem with this series. TRU are some evil sonsabitches. My "rewards" certificates from buying from them barely covers the markup I paid on the stuff, and now it just goes toward negating insane markups. hoped to get the Batcave (marked up 30%!! ) then figured I could at least put it toward series 6... Guess I'm gonna have to find something or other just to not waste it. Edited January 5, 2012 by SpiderSpaceman Quote

I've seen cheaper and better sales at other stores without the markup than they have. Plus, with S@H, you could incorporate the shipping as the "TRU markup" and receive VIP points for future free lego! Quote

Can't feel my blind packs though - but yeah I think henceforth I'll only Toy's 'r' us minifigs. And really don't even need to do that now because they don't sell out like series 1&2, I can wait for target. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Has..ANYBODY spotted these in the states? I'm anxious to buy some.. -Sci In the last couple days I've checked out five Walmarts, two Targets, one Kmart and one Toys 'R' Us near me (Tallahassee, Florida), and I've picked up a lot of sweet clearance deals (the primary reason for all this running around), but I haven't seen any Series 6 Minifigures anywhere yet. Series 5 is still pretty abundant - one of the Targets here doesn't seem to have any left, and the other has them on clearance for $2.08 and seems to be going through them quickly at that price, but most of the Walmarts have scads of them (interesting to me, since I've rarely seen the previous four series at any of the Walmarts here). There's also one hobby store near me that still has Series 3, 4 and 5, or at least did as of a few days ago. Quote
yys4u Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Yea it seems like LEGO had some real success in making sure other stores don't release these before they do. I ALMOST had success in finding them. After hearing that they were listed as "sold in stores" on TRU website I called my local store and asked if they had them, and the employee said yes. So I rushed to the store and saw nothing by the Customer Service desk, I checked the LEGO isle and saw a small handful of series 5 in the new display bins, then checked the checkout isles and still saw nothing. I finally asked an employee and he checked the computer and said not only does his store not have them in stock, but no store in his system has them yet either... Quote
Lego_Hero Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I try not to complain too much about TRU's mark-ups b/c I know how much some people in other countries pay, but since someone else started it... They had the Catwoman set for $17.99! They also had sets that were on clearance before Christmas marked up for unsuspecting patents. Star Wars battle packs for $16.99 instead of $11.99. I take advantages of their BOGOs when I can. I rationalize the occasional mark-up with the fact that I've scored twenty-something Bricktober minifigs there for a penny each. Quote
Zeya Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I rationalize the occasional mark-up with the fact that I've scored twenty-something Bricktober minifigs there for a penny each. Get. Out. That's a sweet deal. One time I got two of the lighthouse polybags because they ran out of the terrible-looking Hero Factory notepad thing. I like to preorder CMFs from TRU online, and return my surplus to them in-person at the brick-and-mortar store (gift card refund). Other than that most of my purchases from them are impulse shopping because all the Lego looks so pretty when it's lined up on their shelves, or I don't want to wait for Target/Walmart to eventually get something in. But yeah you really have to be vigilant and on your toes to make TRU "worth it" for your purchases. Quote
Homer_S Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I called the toys R us near port huron mi and they had none in stock and none in the warehouse but 10's of thousands on order lol, the places I contacted in canada say 2-4 weeks Quote
Tamamono Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Apparently the clerk I talked to was mistaken, because today when I called the Lego store here in D.C. If even the LEGO stores are having trouble getting them, then I suppose there is a bit of a distribution problem with this series after all. Oh well, we've waited this long. Quote

I am going to check the Lego store here tomorrow just to be sure there were no mistakes or confusion. I truly hope they are realeased some time in January, though! Quote
prateek Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Anyone see this video? Quite hilarious. It's a Robot Chicken made with Series 6 CMFs written for a general audience. Quote

This was shared quite a while ago, but the video was a camera filming a screen. This is great to see the original video, thanks! -Sci Quote
Sandy Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Hahaha, that video made me crack up! "The Bold and the Buildable Bricks of Our Lives" was the best skit by far, though. I've got my own batch of these 16 sweeties coming my way very soon, and I can't wait to get my hands on this top-notch series! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Anyone see this video? Quite hilarious. It's a Robot Chicken made with Series 6 CMFs written for a general audience. I agree dude, totally AWESOME....loved the fake movie titles....300 Pieces ! It was as good as the promo cartoons used for Lego city sets. Quote
Perry the Platypus Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I haven't found any yet, and I live in the States. Hopefully they start appearing soon... I'm already spending too much money on LEGO 2012. Quote
yys4u Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 (edited) Found Series 6 at the Ontario, CA lego store. I asked if I could buy a full box but they said they usually don't allow that for the first couple months and that the limit is 16, so I painstakingly sat there and felt through all the bags to find my set only to go checkout and realize I had miscounted and had to do it all over again. Ultimately they let me leave with 17, I grabbed an extra roman. All the other stores I called in southern California said they wouldn't have them till Monday. So get em while they're hot boys n girls! They've reached the States. Edited January 6, 2012 by yys4u Quote

Canada_7 Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Found Series 6 at the Ontario, CA lego store. I thought you meant Ontario, CANADA. Will wait I guess. Quote

CM4Sci Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Checked a local TRU here in Burnsville, MN, no luck. I asked when they're going to receive them, and the woman said she didn't know. But I did manage to pick up Olivia's Treehouse and the S5 Box! -Sci Quote
