I have to agree with The Brickster on the modular idea being a little too complicated. That could certainly be something that may be possible further down the road if others are interested but for now we should keep it simple. We don't want to keep it so simple it would be boring but building modular sections require many rules and specific features. I'm really liking the idea of basing train cars on past themes. A police jail train car? A wild west saloon car? I can see it now...

How about participants have to create a freight car for transporting something related to their favourite (non-train) LEGO theme of past or present? So maybe you could have a Futuron rocket transporter, a rolling Castle catapult or something equally crazy. The more imaginative the better.

Ok, ok so I decided I really like Andyc's idea much better. Pick a theme, non- train and build a related car. Examples- A Hogwarts Castle car based on the Harry Potter set 4842. Or a Camper car based on the city camper set 7639. You could use parts from the actual set or just base it on the set. I think this would definitely be the best way to go. The possibilities are endless.

I'm with this idea too. There would be so many interesting themes to adapt.

The Brickster,

I am wondering if you could move this to the front page to gain some exposure? We might be able to get some other interested members that may not visit Train Tech often. If not, that's ok too.

Once we get the details worked out and are ready to start, I'll be glad to front-page. On a side note, we should also have a nice graphic to depict the contest.
