KurttKrueger Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 (edited) Greetings folks, While playing a game of Heroica with my wife and son last night, we discussed how cool it would be if we could make a minifig scale Heroica map, complete with heroes and monsters. So, after thinking about it for a bit, I built some minifig scale versions of the hero microfigs that come with the Heroica games. Here they are: Druid: Knight: Ranger: Thief: Wizard: I'm not too happy with the way the Wizard looks, I think he'd definitely benefit from a red or dark red hood, but no such piece exists. Torso could be better too. I'm happy with the rest, though the Knight is virtually a stock Kingdoms minifig. I haven't been able to build the Barbarian due to a lack of sufficient parts. I may put a Bricklink order in though! Let me know what you think. Cheers, Dan Edited August 3, 2011 by KurttKrueger Quote
LandShark Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I've been waiting for someone to do something like this! Good call using the actual Heroica weapons, they go well with the figures. Are you planning on making any of the goblins (you could use the Castle troll head)? Also, just a suggestion, could you post comparison pictures of the microfigs? Quote

I've got a ton of Trolls, so I'll have to take some photos of a batch together. I've been using Trolls with no helmets as Strangth 1 Goblins, Trolls with helmets as Strength 2, and a troll with a bronze helm and armour as the goblin king. I've also replaced the Heroica weapons with regular minifig weapons, as the scale looks better. Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 The ranger is nice, like the blue color! Quote

I actually thought the Heroica weapons worked very well with the figures, but I'll wait and see... Quote
Beefbanana Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 The ranger in my opinion is the best, he just needs to look a little younger and he'll be perfect! Quote
SilvaShado Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Very cool looking! Can't wait to see what else you make. It's too bad minifigure series 6 isn't out because there will be a barbarian in there. Quote
Sandy Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 I really like these. You've managed to stay quite true to the originals, although I'd do a few things differently (granted, I might have a bigger minifig part collection than you). First of all, the Ranger's hair should be brown, so either one of these two hairpieces would work better imo: I'd put a red cape on the Wizard, along with this hat (not available in any set, but you can find it from Bricklink.com): As for the Barbarian, may I suggest this Viking torso? Bricksandparts Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I have made some decals in another topic, so I guess it would not hurt to post them here. Quote
Quichybo Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 (edited) I also like those figures, I have been working on a LEGO-based table-top role-playing-game (RPG) for a long time. I want to use modified official rules from the Pen & Paper-RPG "Das Schwarze Auge" (= The Black Eye). You may know it from the PC-RPG "Drakensang". I wrote those rules down and maybe lost them in a system crash. I still don't dare to touch that harddisk. Anyhow, with the Minifgures and appropriate rules it is possible to turn any larger set (like a castle or a ship) into something you can use for tabletop-RPGs. The cool thing is the customizability of the characters. For that game I want to use the robe of the "troll-witch" (which would be an orcish shaman) from the mountain fortress as a druid-robe. Gryphon Ink Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 They look great, Kurtt! I especially like the Druid and the Ranger, although I pity the poor Ranger that has to fight with that awful Heroica bow. This is one case where I really don't like the Heroica weapon. All the rest work pretty well IMO. Where did the Druid's face originally come from? I like it a lot. Quote

Darkdragon Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 These are great. I especially like the thief, he's perfect! I bet they will come out with a red-ish hood sooner or later. :) maybe you could use Quote
KurttKrueger Posted August 7, 2011 Author Posted August 7, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the positive feedback so far folks, much appreciated. I've replaced the Heroica weapons with regular minifig weapons. I much prefer the look of them. I'm going to be putting a Bricklink order in soon for some extra parts, so will update this thread once I've made progress. @Sandy: Thanks for the parts suggestions. I wanted to use the brown version of the skater hair, but don't have it currently. It's on the shopping list. I didn't know the red hat existed, so thanks for the update. And yes, that's the exact torso I had in mind for the Barbarian. It's on my Bricklink wanted list! Also, I'm really intrigued by the Heroica RPG in your sig! Whats it about? @Brinksandparts: Those are some really nice torso decals you've made there! I especially like the Goblin torso. Any chance you can produce some head decals for them? As I think sand green heads would look off with regular green torso's (or make the decals sand green?). @Quichybo: I love that minifig, it's one I've not got hold of yet. I'd be tempted to use the entire figure for a boss of sorts! @Gryphon Ink: The head comes from one of the Crown Knight minifigures. Can't remember which set, but pretty sure it's in King's Castle Siege 7094. Edited August 7, 2011 by KurttKrueger Quote
Sandy Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Also, I'm really intrigued by the Heroica RPG in your sig! Whats it about? Heroica RPG will start in the Games forum as soon as we get everything finished. It's been a long time in the planning, even before we knew about the Heroica boardgames (which we then adopted as the setting of the RPG). All interested members can play it, so keep your eyes on the Games forum. Quote

Rufus Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Would you mind if I move this topic to the MCW? I think it would be more at home there. Quote
