sok117 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I don't see what the problem was with Captain America, it wasn't trying to be a world war 2 movie, it was trying to be a super hero movie. As long as you can see what it is then in that light it was a great movie, at least in my opinion. Quote
bionicle factory Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 (edited) So I found the awesome fan made The Avengers trailer. Well, it will be good if it's a full length movie, and it is! And a sequel is made! You can download the two films here: You can also watch the online version, but it is not recommended, since it lags. Edited August 20, 2011 by bionicle factory Quote

The Crazy One Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Apparently it's the Avengers versus the Skrull. Funky. Also, I don't like Captain Americas new costume for the film. Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Although I am quite excited about the new Avengers movie, especially after seeing the excellant Captain America movie. The lineup of heroes is just a bit disappointing. They did manage to fit Agent Hill into the movie in line with the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon, but a number of Avengers have been left out. The ones in the movie are currently just the major hitters, Thor, Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye. But if Hawkeye appears like he did in Thor, it would be very disappointing. Marvel Studios and Walt Disney should have thought more about the classic era of Avengers with Hercules, Quiksilver, Scarlet Witch, Ant Man, the Wasp, Wolverine and Spiderman to name a few. Having Loki as the villain is also unusual because he just isn't "big" enough to call in the Avengers. A more appropriate villain would be the Skrull(s), The Dark Avengers or Galactus. (The purple guy, not the wierd vortex from the second Fantastic Four movie) (For those who don't know, the Dark Avengers was led by Norman Osbourne (Green Goblin) dressed in a stolen repainted Iron Man suit renamed the Iron Patriot who replaced the Avengers with supervillains. Daken (Wolverine's son) as Wolverine, Venom as Spiderman, Bullseye as Dark Hawkeye and Moonstone as Dark Ms. Marvel. A team of super villains or a huge super villain would be a better choice than Loki. Marvel have to win me over with more than Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and another Stan Lee cameo. This is how I think about the movie so far, feel free to flame me with your own opinions. Have a nice day everyone! Quote

K-Nut Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 ...But if Hawkeye appears like he did in Thor, it would be very disappointing... Why? Hawkeye was just a cameo in Thor. He'll have a way bigger part in this. I just wished they made him his own movie. Quote

The Crazy One Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) Source? Yahoo.co.uk. Somewhere in the movie section. It's just gossip but a couple of filming pictures in there to enjoy if you can find the article. I'm on an iPhone so I can't find the right page very easily. Edit: Yes I know it's Yahoo. djmangunz Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 I have been avoiding posting the massive spoilers (read: bootlegged video and pictures from the movie set) floating around online about the Avengers movie. However, yesterday we Avengers fans good some good news and bad news. First the good news: this week's Entertainment Weekly cover features the Avengers in all their glory. The bad news? It looks like a drunken monkey photoshopped it together. Judge for yourself. http://www.ew.com/ew/inside/ Also, included in that article Marvel gives us a list of their upcoming movie schedule after the Avengers. Some of which we know like Thor 2 and Iron Man 3. Some of which we were waiting for conformation like Ant Man and some of which were just massive speculation before like the Inhumans and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Cool stuff. http://collider.com/marvel-ant-man-guardians-of-the-galaxy-movies/118045/ At this point I am just trying to find anything that will take the bad taste out my mouth from last nights blind buy, Transformers 3. Man, was that one hot mess of a plot? I could have just skipped to the last hour of the film and saved myself 90 minutes of pure crap. Quote
CF Mitch Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 The first official trailer is out, as of today Whoohoo!! It looks awesome I love Tony Stark's quotes, he's hilarious. My favorite quote of his in this trailer is a very serious one, however: "If we can't save the world, you can be damn sure we'll avenge it" Quote
Internets Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 That was a nice trailer for Iron Man feat. Some Other Guys Quote
djmangunz Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 Yeah, I'm not going to lie, that trailer made my nipples hard. Pause it at 53 seconds in and get a nice view of the QuinJet. Sadly no glimpses of the Helicarrier. Looks like Marvel is keeping that one close to the chest. Can you believe that in seven months we are going to get Lego versions of the Avengers? How sweet is that! I do like how they are pushing Robert Downey as the lead. He currently has the biggest name among the other actors and his movies have done the best with the casual fan base. Really excited to see Loki in action, and (as rumor would have it) some shape-shifting green friends.... Quote
Oky Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Yup, that trailer sure gave me a nerdgasm. They do seem to emphasize on Tony Stark, and there's nothing wrong with that if you ask me. Robert Downy Jr. rocks! Besides, Iron Man has always been a kind of Second in Command anyway. Seven months is way too long to wait, both for this epic movie AND the Lego sets! Quote
djmangunz Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 It will be worth the wait for both, but it sounds like we will be paying out the nose to own the Avengers in Lego form. Yikes! Quote
djmangunz Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 This thread deserves a bump after the debut of the Avengers Super Bowl commercial. Oky Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 "I have an army!" "We have a Hulk." Best comeback ever! Purest Awesomesauce I ever saw. Can't wait! Quote
WhiteFang Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Can't wait for this! I am actually feeling very excited about it. Quote
def Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Arrrgh, I hate having to like something on Facebook to access something Anyway, interesting stuff. Some of it looks a little cheap, like Captain America's costume, but the second half of it was pretty awesome. Hulk will be pretty great when he's not the lead of a film I reread Ultimates one last week (up to issue 12 of 13, actually, I'll finish it before bed tonight) and I'm really impressed with the build up and the writing of it. I wonder if any story points will be borrowed. I know the characterizations and universe were from there, but I wonder if the story arcs have any similarities. The Ultimates' use of Hulk was pretty awesome, though I like Ultimate Hulk less than the regular one. All the same, I haven't been in a theater since Super 8 last summer. I nearly went to see Tin-Tin and Mission Impossible 4 this winter holiday, but neither of them had reviews that convinced me it would be great to see them in the theater. I will have to see this one... Then nerd out on their LEGO counterparts after Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 After watching the trailer again, I am still slightly disappointed with Hawkeye, his purple costume would look heaps better than a Cyclopsy suit. Quote
def Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 After watching the trailer again, I am still slightly disappointed with Hawkeye, his purple costume would look heaps better than a Cyclopsy suit. I like the purple suit too, but it's the Ultimate version. The main Marvel one switched just recently to match this style too, so the 0.1% of people who watch the movie and pick up a comic because of it won't be confused by it. Hawkeye (I chose this image because his fly-scooter is so awesomely dorky ) Ultimate Hawkeye New Hawkeye (hard to find a pic, I only saw a few, and haven't read any of it) Sadly, I enjoyed him most as Goliath. It just so happened that when I started collecting comics in 1985, some of my first dollar bin purchases were reprints of early Avengers when Hawkeye had replaced Giant-man. And for some reason, Marvel has never revived that idea in well over 30 years. Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 (edited) Hmm, I have read the Ultimate X-men and it does seem that everyone came put of the Matrix but thats just me. The hero I'm most hyped up about has to be Cap, he has a shield, he can do martial arts and he's got a motorcycle. So happy he will come in the cheapest set in the wave. And correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Hawkeye now Ronin? Edited February 6, 2012 by VolcanicPanik Quote

And correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Hawkeye now Ronin? Yeah, all Ultimates stuff seems somewhat based on the leather suits from the first X-Men ficks. But (with a few strong exceptions) I think the Ultimates one and two were quite good superhero books. The main criticism was that they were written like Hollywood movies, which is good and bad. The writer, Mark Millar, has simply amped up the proto-film writing since, and sold a pile of screenplays from it (Kick megablocks, Wanted, more in the future). As a comic lover, I'm on the fence about blockbuster comics. But, I think he did a fairly good job with Ultimates, and he wrote it at a time when the Avengers was still somewhat low-selling (from the mid-70s to the early 00's, it was either a B or C title, but never an A title). He was also the one who cast Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury, though he cast Johnny Depp as Iron Man and Steve Buscemi as Bruce Banner. Anyway, Hawkeye was Ronin at some point, but I don't follow the Avengers so much. I read Secret Invasion, and a few of the Avengers issues in "The Heroic Age" storylines, but none of it really caught with me. He was done with being Ronin at that point though. That's one of the great things about Wikipedia though Still, with this movie and the cartoon out at the moment, it'll be fun to see what's done with the characters 20 years from now. I'm sure the 90's Iron Man and X-Men cartoons are half the reason those flicks were so successful. Quote
CF Mitch Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 "I have an army!" "We have a Hulk." Best comeback ever! Haha, I know, right. I loved that part too And I agree with the 'awesomesauce' as well I don't really care about Hawkeye, my favorite characters in this movie are the ones that have their own already: Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and Captain America. The others are cool too, but still. I'm actually wondering how they got Thor to Earth, as the bridge from Asgard was destroyed in the Thor movie.... But maybe we'll see that in the next Thor movie, and Avengers is supposed to be after that, chronologically? Regards, Mitch Quote
djmangunz Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 Rumors are that the Avengers movie will explain how Thor gets back to earth. I mean if Loki can jump off the bridge and make it, then a man with a hammer that makes him fly surely can. I for one am really glad that they didn't use Hawkeye's purple getup. As a huge fan of the Ultimates I was really excited to see them using some of the uniforms from that series in the movie. After watching the trailer two or three (hundred)times, it seemed that they are doing a nice mash-up of the original Avengers comic and the Ultimates with Loki and the alien invasion. During the Avengers tweet Q&A Tom Hiddleston write: By the way… IN THE END, IT WILL BE EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF.And if rumors are to be believed it sounds like Iron Man 3 will touch on the Superhuman Registration Act and the beginnings of the Civil War series where Cap and Shell Head are on opposite sides duking it out. Makes for a potentially compelling ending to the Avengers first movie. Quote
