destroyer Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 So I've been trying to start a navy, but finding the material to make sails is ridiculously annoying. Seeing as I want to print designs on the sails, what material should I use? Or really, what material does LEGO use to make ITS sails??? Quote
greg3 Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Hi I've just started making my own sails too... I've just used an old shirt cut up and dyed in coffee/tea. If you want more complicated designs you can try using printable fabric such as the products from here My link Not sure what Lego use but I've seen "write on rain" type paper which is plastic type paper that you can write on/print from the computer. You can usually find it in outdoors/camping shops Hope some of that helps... looking forward to seeing your navy!! Quote
Cherno Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 I use off-white fabric I bought from a department store. It's intended use seems to be as a table cloth. IT works really well, has a nice color for a sail, and can be painted or printed on. Check out the sailmaking tutorial, in the last part I talk about some of the techniques I used: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3351 Quote
Warhorse47 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I'm playing with stuff called Foam Sheet from Hobby Lobby, cheap easy to cut and comes in all sorts of colors. Quote
