Missing Brick Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) Wow. These latest figs look great - I guess you get better at it the more you make. I'm working on a scene with LEDs on the marines shoulders. I didn't want to damage the existing painted shoulder lights so I'm just sitting my LEDs on top of them and running the wires down their backs into the floor. Hopefully it'll look OK from a distance. Hoping to add some fog so I get nice light beams in the photos. Edited March 23, 2015 by Missing Brick
Blacktron Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) I hate these situations too. Usually I don't have many minifigure parts on stock. I bricklink them when needed. So if a seller needs weeks to get the order ready for shipping, that is something that makes me real mad. Yeah, they get more detailed with each new wave. But also more work intensive with each wave. Last week I've build some new Minifigures - 5x Hicks, 5x Hudson. It took me an entire week to make them. From the first step (usally casting the armor and helmet) to the last step (usally writing the name on the front of the armor) it is a long way. I've never tried to make that writing on Vasquez armor because I thought it would be much to small for me. Recently I've tried some indication of it - you can't read the exact letters - and it worked nice. Whoops - new standart - one more workstep for her in the future. My girlfried studied your Flickr page a few hours ago and was totally amazed by your pictures and dioramas. The words she used to talk about your work made me feel like the worst MOC builder in the world when I heart them. So don't get any better! I like your idea about the working LED shoulder lamps. Looking forward to it. If you need to drill some holes into the lamps - go ahead - I can send you new ones whenever you want. I had the idea to do pics of some figures in the light of a blue LED to make their Glow in the dark color of the shoulder lamps shine. I really should try that. Edited March 23, 2015 by Blacktron
Missing Brick Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 The writing on Vasquez looks great - even if it's not quite readable. I like the Adios on her gun too. Not suprised to hear they take a long time to make. Each is a mini work of art. The fluorescent paint on the shoulder lights is great but it's not really bright enough to show up on camera unless everything else is completely black. I've got a bag of 5mm diameter white LEDs which are a bit too big for the shoulder lights really. So I plan to position the figs so the camera can't see the LED directly - just the beam. Will see if it looks OK. The alternative would be to buy some 2mm LEDs and drill/mod the minifigs but I want to avoid that if I can. Glad to hear your girlfriend liked my mocs :)

Game over man Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Dude your work is amazing i've been wanting to do aliens related things for ages, but getting the custom parts is difficult, but seeing this, its just awesome.
Blacktron Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 Thanks very much for your feedback, Game over man! I hope I can help. PS: Your username is great!
Game over man Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Thanks, Do you run parts on there own, or is it just as mini-figures?
Blacktron Posted October 1, 2015 Author Posted October 1, 2015 Usually I only sell the completed Minifigures. But I've made exceptions to that rule in the past. Depends on what parts you need, how many and if painted or not. I suggest just contact me via Email and we can talk about that. My adress is RomeVox@web.de
Game over man Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Right, let me just start this by saying if there is anyone visiting this forum who is unsure if these figures are worth it, Let me just tell you, if you are a fan of aliens these will be some of the best figures you could ever get. These figures custom parts are of the highest quality, they are solid and I have seen no reason to worry about them breaking. The paint work is amazing and encapsulates all the little icon details from the films. I'm so happy to have these figures, and to any fan of aliens or Lego, you will be to.
Blacktron Posted April 21, 2016 Author Posted April 21, 2016 (edited) I've made some new Colonial Marines custom figures to offer. My 2016 versions feature painted boots and shin guards. Because of this I'll raise the price for the Marines and other figures by $1. Xenos and Smartgunners remain at $20. I'll upload some pictures of the new and improved figures soon. Here is the updated list of what I got ready for shipping right now: Update 04/2016 Hicks x 3 Hudson x 3 Apone x 2 Dietrich x 3 Frost x 3 Wierzbowski x 3 Crowe x 3 Smartgunners: Vasquez x 3 Drake x 3 Aliens/Xenos x 2 Ripley: X 2 Edited April 21, 2016 by Blacktron
Blacktron Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 It seems the demand for some Colonial Marines to protect the Lego Collection at home was more then I had expected. Most of the troops I've made for 2016 have already found their way to their new homes all over the world. I love it when people give me feedback about them and send me some pictures of their custom figures in their new invironments - like Emil did. Thanks very much! Right now it looks like this: Hicks Sold out Hudson x 1 Apone Sold out Dietrich x 2 Frost x 1 Wierzbowski x 2 Crowe x 2 Smartgunners: Vasquez Sold out Drake Sold out Aliens/Xenos x 8 Ripley: Sold out Looks like I have to build some more this year. I'll update when I got some new ones available.

Blacktron Posted May 20, 2018 Author Posted May 20, 2018 (edited) Hi! I took a longer break from my Colonial Marines project and had other stuff I worked on. But in last March I started to work on some new Marines, after 1 1/2 years break. Right now I got two sets of the Minifigs (picture) ready for shipping. Blacktron Posted June 10, 2019 Author Posted June 10, 2019 Hi fellow Aliens fans! :-) Every now and then I recieve an email with the question if I still make these custom figures. The answer is: Yes! :-) I should update this thread more often. Project Colonial Marines is still running and I'm working on new figures right now. My email adress is still RomeVox@web.de, so please contact me if you're interested in getting your own squad of Marines. German shipping company DHL has made my life a little more complicated this year by increasing their shipping prices massively. For figures shipped within the EU shipping costs are now $10 Not insured, $18 insured. Worldwide shipping is $20 not insured, $40 insured. I can only apologize for this massive increase. This isn't fair. Until End of 2018 I was able to offer $10 worldwide shipping insured. I can only hope this situation will change again and I can understand everyone complaining about this inrease. Cheers! Matthias :-)
Blacktron Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 (edited) Hi Aliens Fans! Time for another small update: Jason from United States sent me these great pictures. APC and stickers (love them!) are made by Jason, Marines and Xenos are made by me. I love it to receive pictures of my custom figures, photographed in their new homes. Available right now are: - All 7 Marines ($18 each) - Smartgunners Vasquez and Drake ($20 each) - 7 Xenomorphs ($20 each) If someone is interested in them, please contact me via PM or email (RomeVox@web.de). I might have some Ripleys, Drop Ship pilots, Bishops and Gormans available by August. Cheers! Edited July 10, 2019 by Blacktron forgot something
Blacktron Posted June 17, 2020 Author Posted June 17, 2020 Hi Aliens Fans! I haven't done an update in a long time. Strange times we live in right now. Corona crisis or not, the Colonial Marines project will move on. But there will be some changes this year. 1. Shipping prices have increased by the beginning of 2020. Until the end of last year I was able to offer worldwide shipping (insured) for only $10. But now it is forbidden in germany to send items in large letters worldwide. This new regulation have increased shipping costs. It's a shame. 2. Since the beginning of this project I always tried to improve the custom figures. Now it's time for another change. Costs of body parts in sand green have increased massivly in Bricklink. So I have made the decission to move away from sand green and move away from yellow faces. There will be a 2020 edition of the Colonial Marines in full camo, improved helmets, improved paintjobs and fleshy heads. These will be the most movie accurate Marines I've ever done. An update with first pictures of the 2020 Marines will come in July or August. I will retire the concept of sandgreen uniforms and yellow heads. If there are some people out there with a half squad at home and like to complete them, please contact me. Maybe I can make a final run of those Marines. But full camo and fleshy heads will be the way to go in the future. Thanks! Matthias :-)
Blacktron Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 Here they are. 2020 edition of my Colonial Marines custom figures. The plan was to get away from the yellow skin and the sandgreen basic figure parts. It took me a lot of time and experiments to get there. Hope you like them! :-)
