November 15, 201113 yr Hi all! Just wondering if anyone has picked up set 4431 (Ambulance) and done a review of it? I did a quick search and didn't find anything..
November 15, 201113 yr What I'd like to know is why LEGO's ambulances have the same colour scheme as the hospitals. Where I live, the ambulances are either part of te fire department or owned by a private company.

Well, in a lot of localities (even here in the U.S.) ambulance services are indeed separate from fire departments without being privately-owned. I can't quite remember if the ambulances where I'm from are like that, but I can definitely assure you that ambulances with these colors aren't exotic or foreign in states like Virginia. There's more information here. There's also the fact that TLG likes to color-code things. It's the reason why most LEGO police stations have the same color windows as their cars' windscreens, why most LEGO fire stations are the same vivid red as the fire engines, etc. The article on the 2010 Fire Station set in this PDF discusses various ways in which kids' perceptions might not necessarily match reality 100% of the time, and so the sets should be built to match these perceptions. This means that in many cases it makes sense to have one color scheme in any given year for firefighting-related sets, one for medical-care-related sets, and one for "work vehicles" and sets associated with them like in the 2009 Garage, Tow Truck, and Helicopter Transporter.
November 16, 201113 yr here you go. Brickshow did a review on the ambulance last week. Thanks sneff! This is exactly what I'm after.

Where I live, the ambulances are either part of te fire department or owned by a private company. In a lot of Europe, the ambulance service is owned by the local or national govt. along with the hospitals, e.g. NHS Trusts in the UK and the HSE NAS in Ireland (Except Dublin where it's the fire brigade doing ambulances for history reasons).
November 16, 201113 yr Does anyone have pictures of the new mudguards? I am really excited for them and would like to know their dimensions.

I doubt it. These are toys.
November 19, 201113 yr When are the Forest Firefighter sets available? Probablly in Janurary. Not sure why TLC released a few of this wave's sets so early but some were left out.

November 19, 201113 yr Found a new pic of the bear. Looks good. TBH I don't like it, it looks too duploey to me, I know they've designed it for playability but it looks too big and bulky kinda like the elephant, I much prefer the old style polar bear mold from the ice planet theme, shame they didn't do that one brown.
November 19, 201113 yr Sorry, but I like the bear especially the facial printing on it. We've had a couple Dino reviews, yet no city ones ? Avalonia Forever ! Edited November 19, 201113 yr by lightningtiger

I like this bear. The polar bear (which was from Arctic, not Ice Planet) was okay, but I like this one's printed eyes (I have a bias toward printed eyes, as I feel other animals should mimic the style of Lego minifigs and horses, which have always been printed) and its posability (its ability to rear up on its hind legs makes it much more intimidating than the nigh-unposable polar bear). And I loved the big, bulky elephant, although if they did another I would prefer printed eyes on that, too.
November 19, 201113 yr Good points Lyichir. I think that bear looks even better up close! The old bear was only two studs wide, way too puny. Edited November 19, 201113 yr by Mikeosaurus
November 19, 201113 yr I like this bear. The polar bear (which was from Arctic, not Ice Planet) was okay, but I like this one's printed eyes I agree. What's more, the new bear has two studs on its back unlike the old polar bear - a big plus point for me. Studs make such parts more versatile. Exit, pursued by a bear.
November 20, 201113 yr :thumbup:Well I bought my first 3 sets. Love the design of the garbage truck and the camper trailer!
November 20, 201113 yr Sorry, but I like the bear especially the facial printing on it. We've had a couple Dino reviews, yet no city ones ? Avalonia Forever ! There is a few video reviews, garbage truck and car and caravan.
November 20, 201113 yr There is a few video reviews, garbage truck and car and caravan. Yes, I have seen those.....I mean't hear on EB....I like reading a review usually (uses less download that way ). Now back on topic, by the photo posted by 'sneff' it appears the ambulance is longer than the garbage truck...but not the truck is a few studs longer....but now is the ambulance too long or not when compared to the garbage truck ? Avalonia Forever !
November 20, 201113 yr Now back on topic, by the photo posted by 'sneff' it appears the ambulance is longer than the garbage truck... The ambulance is 20 studs long; the garbage truck is 23-26.

Avalonia Forever ! yes, the garbage truck is about 3 or 4 studs longer. I think the ambulance is to big or the garbage truck is to small. Not sure which it is
November 21, 201113 yr yes, the garbage truck is about 3 or 4 studs longer. I think the ambulance is to big or the garbage truck is to small. Not sure which it is Maybe its the Garbage truck that is too small as the ambulance has to be big enough for the medics and patient trolley!
