GRogall Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I'm convinced it's the flipside of the 'brick' element (similar to what they've done with the grille brick). It's visible in the pictures that there is texture on two sides of the element and I can't imagine that being 'wasted' on the same pattern on both sides. A better picture with this brick can be found here! Warning 2000+ pxl. Quote
weelean Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) Wow! New Mobile Fire Command Centre. LEGO launched some mobile police command centre in past. This is the 1st time. Nice design~! I am sure to buy recycling truck and garbage truck. Total 15 new city sets in January 2012 and more is coming up.... If I want to buy all Friends sets together, it is a big spending in 2012. :( Edited October 17, 2011 by weelean Quote
The Mugbearer Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I must admit that I am very impressed with new police and fire team vehicles. I especially like this Texas Ranger on the patrol car, 'Chinook' chopper and dog van. Also I adore fire amphibian car and this guy on the buggy with chainsaw. ^^ Quote
______ Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I might actually buy some city sets next year, I don't usually buy much of them. -the bear is so loveable -I am liking the new roof section for the police car -The chinook looks nice, hopefully I can get all those pieces in dark grey -I also like the dark red truck -However I don't think I like the new Brick patterns on some bricks, it just seems un Lego-like to me, they could grow on me though Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I feel like Lego is going to try a lot of new stuff for Lego City, and I like it. Is it just me, or are these sets noticeably different from what we usually get in City? Quote
AlaPo Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Thank you very much, Grogall! I have just 2 questions: 1. Two garbage trucks in one "wave"... Why? 2. Sets called "4442 Crooks hideout" and set 4438 - is this a same sets? Thank you. Quote
TooMuchDew Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) I'm loving all the new 2012 LEGO City sets, especially the vehicles. I'm going to guess Pierre Normandin had a hand in the design of several of these. The amphibious fire rig from set 4430 is a strange bird though... like a cross of between a post-WW2 civilianized DUKW and a open cab modern ARFF(?) I was going to say it didn't seem to be based on anything in real life but these 2 photos prove me wrong I guess: "Vigili del Fuoco" - Fire-Service Amphibious Vehicle from Italy and "Tampa FL amphibious fire boat" Edited October 17, 2011 by TooMuchDew Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Well, there is only one garbage truck, the other is a flat bed that can take recycling bins....Lego again trying to show kids being green is cool. I wonder if some of these sets will make an early appearance at the Black Friday sales in the U.S. ? Quote
Brickus Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 What a great line up for this years City, I'm going to be so broke next year. Quote
1974 Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Two garbage trucks in one "wave"... Why? One is a garbage truck, the other one is .. just a truck. We have both types in my town (home of Lego), specialiced trucks are used for garbage, but ordinary flatbeds (or similar) are used for picking up recycle containers. Very common in Europe. Nothing strange about that. Nice that Lego are teaching our children that waste is a big iussue that should be handled correctly, don't you think? What a great line up for this years City, I'm going to be so broke next year. Me too. All look good. Not gonna get the large firetrucks/police helicopter though (too big for my city), but I'm glad I didn't buy the police station. Now I can get this and MOC a nice mountain to boot All pretty good. But where are the construction vehicles .. and the buildings??????????? Just fire and police (and a bit of offroad/camping).. again? Hope Creator can wip up some nice buildings (again) Quote
AndyC Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Why is the Garbage Truck set covered in recycling logos? It's flat-out misleading, IMO. I can only assume that everything gets recycled in Lego City. Quote
1974 Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I can only assume that everything gets recycled in Lego City. Well, the police and fire department sure gets recycled a lot, like every third year for the last uhmm .. 40 years? Most garbage actually gets recycled in Europe now, so it isn't totally of the mark Both sets looks great. Will buy fer sure Quote
Algernon Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I'm also a big fan of those $20 vehicles. They all look great, and the fair price point makes them really enticing. Not as excited about the fire and police sets, but I'm enjoying the new "forest" twist on them. Quote
jth781 Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I just love all the new trucks and vehicles I really like the recycle truck and the garbage truck and just all the new car designs. Finally car that dont just come in the red color. Quote
BigOnBricks Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Another great year coming up. I must have all of these. I love the wheelbarrow and the bear! I think the forest police station is great. Quote
AlaPo Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 And my last question is.. Do we still have some unrevealed sets coming in first wave of 2012?... Quote
Aanchir Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I can only assume that everything gets recycled in Lego City. ...Strangely, that makes sense, what with pretty much everything being made of plastic. Still, kinda weird that they put that in the set. It's bound to confuse some people. Quote
wooootles Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) I have to say.... I think all of these sets look alright! I was one of those folks who pretty much claimed "Oh, not another damn police/fire line," and right, I still probably won't buy any of the police and fire sets. but they look pretty good! The civilian sets and the recycle sets look pretty damn fine. I will probably buy the two green trucks and the orange dump truck, as well as all of civilian sets. I wish they'd expand ambulance in 2012H2 for something bigger (i.e. hospital) The only recurring theme I'm a bit uncomfortable about are the sticker grilles for the majority of the vehicles. Horrible flashbacks of Town Jr and my quitting of LEGO (even as a 11 year old) because of such cheapness. Not saying the sticker grilles bother me right now to the point I won't buy them, though. Thanks for the pics! Edited October 16, 2011 by wooootles Quote
President of Brick Town Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Not to break it out on you JopieK but I think that grille on the recycling truck is a sticker. I see an overlay of sticker on top of a brick . I know now that the grille on the police hq and the ambulance sets say CITY. 2012 is a great year. Jacking up to 8/10. We'll see what 2012 2W has for us. Quote
22kane Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Wow!! Thanks for the pics! I really didn't think I would get a glimpse of this stuff until early next year. Honestly, I am a bit disappointed in the fire and police sets. I had envisioned something very different. I am however very exited for the garbage truck, tipper truck, the off road mororcycle set and the caravan set. The new forest sets don't seem to be very original as if they added a tree and decals and that was it. I may warm up to them at a later point but as of now I'm not too impressed (the forest police station is pretty cool). Thanks again for the awesome pictures!! Quote
GeneralTalon Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 These sets look awesome, i love the redesign of the police and the firefighters. If you look on the bottom of the police HQ there are some new 2 x 1 bricks that appear to be engraved with a brick pattern. which would be great on castles! =D Thanks Quote
legobodgers Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I am loving the new criminal torso with the ripped arms. Even though lego has to make the criminals obviously criminals they still come out with new torso designs. Well done TLG! I love most of the new city sets, the wheelbarrow looks good and the caravan looks good for the pieces if nothing else, I am dissapointed that the bike in the ambulance set is green rather than dark green as it look in the prelim pics. Quote
wokajablocka Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 First look at the new city sets and they should be called Country sets, most of them are really not the city to speak of but still part of the city syatem. Where is the hospital? Where will the ambulance take the guy who fell off his bike? Im supprised to see such a large fire line and the poloce sets are all trooper style out in the middle of no where. You can also chuck in the campers and their not in the city either. Its nice to see some variations though on the city sets to expand your system city. Im not big on the colour change for the fire men, blue legs on the troopers and the green elements with the ambulance set. I do like to bear minifig though, this could be used in MOC's. I like the garbage truck and reycling truck as well. Rubbish trcks are always a welcome in Lego city... Someone need to clean up all those bricks and peices. Quote
meyerc13 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I'm loving all the new 2012 LEGO City sets, especially the vehicles. I'm going to guess Pierre Normandin had a hand in the design of several of these. The amphibious fire rig from set 4430 is a strange bird though... like a cross of between a post-WW2 civilianized DUCW and a open cab modern ARFF(?) I was going to say it didn't seem to be based on anything in real life but these 2 photos prove me wrong I guess: "Vigili del Fuoco" - Fire-Service Amphibious Vehicle from Italy and "Tampa FL amphibious fire boat" Here's another: The Tampa boat is a LARC, whereas the Seattle is a DUKW. The DUKW have six wheels, the LARC have 4 wheels. The LEGO model has 8 wheels, but I can see modding this to a be a DUKW. Growing up a few hours from the Wisconsin Dells, where Duck tours originated and still run today, to me this has to be a Duck. Quote
LegoSjaak Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Well, seems TLG has done a great job concerning new vehicles for 2012... i will buy at least 6 of those new sets...! Personally, the forest theme does not fit my city, but there will be a lot of people who are very glad with it... it looks really good!! Maybe we can expect a new set with a city-building/store??? Greetz and enjoy the beautifull pictures! (And don't forget to add those beauties to your wishlist.... ) LegoSjaak Quote
