I'm not usually a City fan, but I have to say, this is the best wave in a long time.

The vehicle designs are great, a big step up from previous waves. The sub-themes themselves are good, original ideas, and the minifigures are very good.

The minifigures have beautiful printing, without being overly-detailed.

4208 (Fire Truck) has a very classic look to it, and 4427 (Fire ATV) looks like a cheap way to get a good figure and a nice vehicle. :classic:

The criminal's vehicles are very nice, too. They would go well with the Pharaoh's Quest vehicles, what with the dark red colour scheme.

Overall, I really like this wave. I don't know how many of them I'll actually get, but I still applaud Lego for such a big improvement in the theme.

Love the forest based city theme for this coming year. The Chinook helo has the same windshield as the alien conquest mobile hq. I bought two of the AC helos during a bogo with the intent of making a heavy lift helo. Since I usually buy from several different themes 2012 is gonna break the bank!

No one mentioned the new part 1x1x1/3 round tile? Its used on the headlights of some vehicles. It's about this piece came out, it fills a gap for basic pieces.

Asher, you're right..!! I had to take a close look, but indeed, there is a new brick. It is used for the 6 yellow lights on the bike-transporter.... I hadn't seen them, untill i saw your post.. !

It is a nice brick... will do nice work for a lot of vehicles!

Thanks for your scharp eye !!

I like the bear best. But I cannot shake the impression that 1 single wild animal in a forest theme is not enough. Have all other animals become extinct in a realistic "city" theme.

How about a racoon scavenging for food in the recycle bins?

A wolf threatening some campers?

A fawn or deer or stag that can be fed by joggers or run over by a car?

These look like awesome sets and a great way to change the police and fire themes. They were getting kinda repetitive. I just hope that they bring the bear out in smaller sets because i want a bunch of them :sweet:

Yeah, it's been observed. It's used many times in the Ninjago theme, often printed as well. It also makes an appearance in the Cars theme.

In some cases, like many of these uses as headlights, it's not explicitly necessary, but on the other hand it makes for much smoother details than a 1x1 round plate by itself could.

I don't know if anyone know this already but the new life jackets are used in the police helicopter!

Yip so they are. Possibly the old life jackets were getting phased out on the Harbour series and these will become the norm now. Prefer these ones tot he old ones.

Oh wow! Not knowing what these sets would be a am really impressed!

I wasn't to happy to see the police again but the forrest theme is a diffrent take :sweet:

I like how you get an added extra with each police set for the background

I am not usually into City sets, but the ranger ones are very cool! Did anyone else notice a new piece in the trees? It looks like a 2x2 round plate with four connection points for the leaves. I have not seen it anywhere else, but it looks very useful. Oh, and my Bear Claw Clan figures are going to be very happy about the bear figure!

Oh dang; found another set...... *oh2*

I think the set popped up here earlier, but thanks for the high-res version. The best one of the police line if you ask me. :classic:

Oh yeah, I hadn't noticed that. Thanks for pointing it out. :classic:

4438 Forest Police Command Centre

Police? Looks more like the criminals hideout to me. :sceptic:

But I do like the ripped dungarees on the minifigure on the roof.

Realy liking what Im seeing in the photo's posted. Cheers to those who have done so.

Its good to see a change in the firefighters uniform. I am guessing seeing as its the forest ff's that it resembles a lightweight boiler type suit rather than the PBI gold that many UK fire services and american's use. Not a big fan of the amphibious vehicle. Looks like more suited to a moon theme. But thats my opinion.

Like the ambulance though. May modify the minifigures to have all green ubiform like UK paramedics.

Like many could be an expensive year.

2012 sets:

Nostalgia is a stupid, backwards-looking emotion, but it makes me want to buy Lego anyway

The ambulance, the bike truck and the camper are 80s classics updated. :)

The recycling truck, off-road fire truck and the tipper truck all look like nice toys, my toddler will enjoy destroying them. Bin truck is nice too.

I can't help but sorta wish some of the rangers vs. bandits sets had been... split, maybe? I like the mine entrance and the bee hive and the little details there, but I don't like the dog truck. I love the newest set there [sort of seems inexplicably called the command center as it looks more like the backwoods meth lab], but I may have preferred it had it been 10 bucks cheaper and not had the ranger truck in it. I understand the niceness for the kids of having a built-in story line from the get-go, but there's something to be said as well for getting a cop set and a robber set to go with it.

And it woulda made it cheaper for me, who only wants the robber halves of these sets.

Still, 4438 [and the camper trailer] are both 100% buys for me. They'll go exquisitely with the cabin and the lighthouse and the RV in the wonderful little summer camping sub-sub-theme LEGO has been slowly squeaking out over the last few years.

Anyone else spotted the brick look bricks under the porch in set 4438? :sweet:

I just noticed them in a Ninjago set also. I love them (they seem to have paneling on the back for a double effect.

Apparently the cabin in 4438 doesn't have much anything inside, and not much could even be there considering the car has to fit in. For a while I dared to hope that there would be a fourth wall, but the hi-res pictures debunk that hope definitely. Anyway it's nice to be able to get the bear (which looks now even better than the preliminary unprinted version! Awesome!) from a cheaper set than the station, and it isn't bad as a parts pack either. Maybe I'll sell the cars at some internet auction site to make it even cheaper.

Does anyone else find it ironic that the only fire theme that could legitimately have a fire helicopter doesn't have one?

I think these themes are better than the normal city fire and police. I really dig the new dark red theme for vehicles and fire hats. I was wondering what the criminals would be doing in the woods, since most backwoods crime is stuff like moonshine distilleries and meth labs, which is definitely not LEGO appropriate. And we finally get a grizzly bear! I'll get the smaller set that it's in, if it isn't too expensive.
