Vindicare Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Let's not make pretend LEGO has some sort of envrionmental message agenda. It doesn't. TECHNIC features a logging set this year, and the second wave of city sets includes mining. Do you know for sure it's mining? Have a source? It's only a rumor that this point. If you're thinking because the whole modular "hint conspiracy", don't hold your breath. Quote
Jargo Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 LEGO as a company have a keen interest in recycling. All their packaging is recyclable. waste from the factory floor is recycled. Look how minimal the sprues are that come attached to certain parts. They don't have an environmental message they just are environmentally friendly. Aside from producing millions upon millions of plastic pieces. That wasn't my point though. My point was that LEGO wouldn't put out sets pertaining to a recycling theme at the same time as sets pertaining to a destruction and waste theme like logging. It would be counter productive. Mining sub-theme? I don't see that happening. If anything then possibly an add on to the police sets with a bigger gold mine hideout for the criminals. Even that's doubtful. I don't know what's in store for the second half of 2012 and I don't want to know until Spring time. A lot can change in a few months. I prefer more concrete evidence of product line up than rumour. Rumours are more often than not grown from someone's personal wish-list. Quote

Can I guess a lot of Power Miner's parts in yellow and light bluey grey ? 4203 by the sounds of it might be a huge set and even greater one 4204.....sadly it will be months before we see images. jonwil Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Best place to start for a logging MOC is to get a pile of Series 5 lumberjacks. Quote
chris_austin Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 (edited) I too can not see the issue with the new 'bricked' brick, we have the log brick and the grill brick....anyone complain about those ? This new brick will be handy to all city MOC'ers....perhaps none more important as those who build modulars. 'legomilk', I was trying to make sense of your statement....do you possibly have extra shots or even dare I say 2H wave images ? Perhaps it's just a personal thing but the grill and log brick are fine, the detail on them isn't too high so as to render them useful for only one purpose. The new wall piece is only going to be good for building walls. I've seen countless MOC's that have amazing textured walls without the use of this new part. I do think that TLG aren't stupid and will likely only include small amounts of this brick in certain sets. I'm sure we won't be seeing whole buildings using this brick! and the thieves hideout shows how much these can contribute to a model. What would previously be an unremarkable two-by-two column becomes a recognizable chimney. Have you no imagination?! That would still look like a chimney, textured brick or not Edited October 20, 2011 by chris_austin Quote

That's what that brick is for wall building, and I feel it wouldn't be just an entire wall or building made of these (it would be too expensive ), these bricks will be the plain brick and our normal plain brick will act as rendered brickwork on corners of buildings or windows/door frames.....Victorian era designs. AlaPo Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Is there Any signs of 4205 - Offroad Command Centre ? This is a set, that comes with fire line in first wave of 2012. Quote
chris_austin Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Someone is going to try, I'll bet you. Oh yes and i'm curious to see what it will look like but I meant from TLG. Quote
On Stranger Tides Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) Bricks!!!!!!!!!!!!! Haha... Rednecks really give me the creeps, especially if they are from the middle of nowhere. It would be kewl to see some loggers, like that show from discovery channel, but I don't think TLG would be willing to commercialise that into a toy. Although it would make a nice moc idea. Rednecks really, come on. That was a cheap shot. I cannot wait for them, its alot like the gross looking pirates or castle or any lower class figs that are a must have. lightningtiger Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I too can not wait for the redneck's......then say hello to The Dukes Of Hazard ! (Oh, I want to build a General Lee.....but a Boss Hog might be a problem....though old Ben K. head from SW ANH would do for old Uncle Jessie's head). Back on topic....I find it odd we don't have a shed or office for the recycling depot unless it's a road side recycling point ? Usually they might be found near a truck stop/road house/service station (oh, please Lego hear this cry ). Quote
President of Brick Town Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 imo the street corner of the smbulance set looks bad. Quote
SeaKing61 Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Maybe I've missed something but I don't recognise the pieces used to build the rear portion of 4434 Tipper Truck, does anyone know what they're like? Thanks, Laurie Quote
svede Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) EDIT: Just see that they have another new part: Look at the tree from 4438. The leaves seem to be on a 2x2 round modified plate with 4 arms up. Hasn't anybody spotted them before? I noticed this, too, and was hoping others might notice and comment as well in case I had it wrong, but it seems to be largely overlooked. Definitely looks like a new piece to me, though, and could be quite useful for greenery mocs - I am quite excited about this! :) EDIT: Also, I apologize if someone else already pointed this out (I didn't notice), but there are 2 versions of the new "brick wall" brick... look in this photo at the brick below the police sign and compare to the bricks used in the foundation: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/grogall/City-2010/4440/a_4440_box_front.jpg Thanks Edited October 21, 2011 by svede Quote

Look at them in this set, and I'll see what I'm getting at. It's similar to the grill brick in that each side has a different pattern. Quote

I like the Ambulance and Garbage Truck. Those police sets are getting abit strange. I hoping for another mini modular sets like 7641 City Corner and 8403 City House since I'm going that style (price) rather then the large (awesome, but expensive) modulars. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Those police sets are getting abit strange. Well, funny things happen in the mountains right ? Anyway, one can only hope that the vehicle sets lead on to some more buildings later in the year. Quote

It's similar to the grill brick in that each side has a different pattern. In another thread I tried to figure out what kind of patterns you can produce by using both sides of the bricks together, and I came up with this: I think it's a pleasant kind of irregular pattern, but without any variations on this brick pattern there aren't many other patterns that can be created. lightningtiger Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 (edited) I just noticed something of a first in Lego.....in set 4209 the water bomber craft, by the jeep in flight helmet and on a walkie talkie....a female firefighter ! You can see lips and eyelashes of a female minifig. Quick edit - that jeep is not towing a humble firefighting pump but one to refill the water bomber plane...note the yellow radar dish on a hose....suction hose at that ! Klaus-Dieter Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 (edited) Thank you very much for the information and the pics! Now finally my judgement on the first half of 2012 City sets: 4441 Police Dog Van -great police dog van -cabriolet looks good, but the car doors are missing -entrance to the gold mine is a nice addition 4440 Forest Police Station -amazing looking police station with lots of authentic details -great vehicles -nice tree with ambush and fly agaric 4439 Heavy-Lift Helicopter -looks well buit -but I dont' get why the police does need that a huge helicopter -much too huge (even if it's in size more realistic) -pity that it is a police heli and not a regular non-police cargo helicopter 4438 "Prisoners' Hideout" ??? (Forest Police Command Centre is 4205 of which we haven't got any pictures til now) -hut looks great -but the police jeep looks bad without car doors and 6 studs wide -cabriolet looks good, but car doors are missing -question is even how decent the interior will be like 4437 Police Pursuit -police quad bike is ok -but monster truck looks bad without car doors 4436 Patrol Car -great looking patrol car, only car doors are missing -barrier is a perfect addition -only the prisoner is needless 4435 Car and Caravan ??? -caravan looks from the outside excellent -only question is how decent the interior will be like -car is ok, but car doors are missing 4434 Tipper Truck -truck looks excellent -pushcart is a nice addition 4433 Dirt Bike Transporter -fwd looks ok, but car doors are missing -a new torso for the motorcyclists would have been nice 4432 Garbage Truck  -looks excellent -like the many garbage accessory which comes with it 4431 Ambulance  -looks stunning -like that there is even some interior inside the ambulance and that there comes a lot of accessory with it -only the sidewalk plate looks strange since it is curved 4430 Mobile Fire Command Centre -nice idea -but much too huge vehicles 4427 Fire ATV -small but fine -like the many accessory which comes with it 4209 Fire Plane -plane is really big but looks good -fire car looks great -burning tree and regular tree are great additions 4208 4 by 4 Fire Truck -looks amazing -like the many accessory and the burning tree which come with it 4206 Recycling Truck  -looks awesome -like the many accessory and the pushcart which come with it All in all: I must say that the majority of the first half of 2012 sets is very well done - especially the more civilian oriented cars which I plan to get since they really look brilliant. The new torsos and the pushcart are great. My top three sets are: 1. recycling station 2. ambulance 3. recycling truck I really hope that TLG will continue with some of these amazing more civilian oriented cars in 2012 and later! MrZ Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Ah, but 'K-D' haven't you ever seen The Dukes Of Hazard - the Duke boy's don't use doors ! This guy is complaining that the vehicles lack doors, yet ignores the fact that police don't use cargo choppers in real life? Imagine if every police force owned a $100 million + chopper? If they ever needed one (and I can't think why) they would just charter one. Quote
