Hmmm... The 2012 City summer wave is for me the weakest wave of them all. Hopefully better pictures will change my mind, but so far it looks the money that would go to City will go to another theme, so I guess TLC still gets my money.

I was looking forward to the rumoured hospital, but this hospital is smaller than I expected, and it only has a single doctor. Both the ambulance and the helicopter (where's the pilot?) are strangely proportioned. I like that the patient is going to the hospital because he slipped on a banana!

Unfortunately, I feel the same for the mining sets, which at least has a hardhat with headlamp piece and thankfully it is available in all of these mining sets. The 4202 Dump Truck is to me a poor recreation of the 7344 Dump Truck, which looked a lot less fussy. The 4204 Gold Mine on the other hand looks like has a lot of potential; I can't wait to see some better pictures.

This year the advent calendars were City with police and Star Wars. So what do we have next year... City with firemen and Star Wars. Seriously? Star Wars two years in a row, and even the City calendar is so specific in theme that is quite useless for most other themes? I do understand that SW is the biggest cash cow for Lego, but I'm still disappointed. There are, after all, other themes too, like Ninjago (I don't like it either, but it could give quite a good array of parts and minifigs) or even Super Heroes or LotR (though it might be too soon since their launch). Will 2013 be City and Star Wars yet again? Frankly that doesn't seem that improbable anymore.

(the guy in the hospital set has stepped on a banana and slipped, funny )

Not a huge fan of those sets, But i must say that mine set look really nice.

I'm not really into the mine theme though. it's a neat theme, but after Power Miners, I kind of feel like city should try expanding into something else, give us a break from the traditional police and such, and move into something even different. Mine themes sets a a decent way to break from the normal, but i would have preferred if the theme aimed to expand a lesser theme

My jaw has dropped and wallet is running for cover, YES....a better hospital than last time....not sure of the ambulance with it but the copter is cool. :classic:

The mine with a train.....I'm broke now.....and the vehicles....brick-built tipper trays !

Finally a true Bob-cat and a drilling vehicle that arrives on the back of a low loader.

Oh and don't mining helmets so a round trans-colour plate can act as a headlamp.

With the mine, a new style of prime mover.....I wonder what truck brand they based it on ?

Hope we get just some screen grabs of these sets.

I know we will be getting a Friends Advent Calendar

Both the ambulance and the helicopter (where's the pilot?) are strangely proportioned.

The ambulance looks like a fast response vehicle for a paramedic. Going by the size of vehicle (4 wide) and sticker on the side. In NZ we use cars or SUV's for this.

Nice to see some more City stuff which isn't Police or Fire-related.

Also interesting that the Advent calendar is Construction as well.

Er, they are the forest fire fighters in the advent calendar....they are wearing fire helmets. :look:

But there appears to be female fire fighter plus you build a small fire post/station/lookout similar idea to the police station/post in this years (though it looks better than the cop one).

Well, between this, minus the hospital, and the Monsters theme, my wallet will be a bit heavier next year. Not too interested in these sets, just a meh rating. I may, however, get the little truck. The hat is kinda cool and diversify my population a bit more.

I want that rock quarry....looks like you can use trains with it

If you look closely, it appears the tracks are narrower than the normal train tracks - 2 studs between the rails vice the usual 4. I'd prefer it to be compatible with the rest of the trains, but it's probably still a buy for me.

It looks like a narrow gauge typical of mining operations

Unlike the prelim pics from other 2012 themes, these are pretty disappointing for me, maybe except the hospital (I'll need to see whats itside). It seems I won't even get the minig sets for parts, except maybe some small one for the helmet. I guess what puts me off is that it's more about mining vehicles than the actual mines and mining.

The 2012 sets are MUCH more appealing to me than the 2011 stuff. The new construction/mining stuff, the city works sort of sets, and the civilian vehicles also all suit what I like. Even a few of the new forest police sets are appealing to me, unlike the 2011 police sets which I didn't like.

To me those sets look great.

I have been waiting for the hospital ever since I got 6380(Not counting 7892, that one was horrible). But I am a little bit dissapointed that it has no baseplate and also the ambulance looks a bit small. But overall the design is great!

The hospital set is only on a large plate....I didn't know there was a 16x32 plate, perhaps it will be changed to the cheaper and thinner base plate. I can simply assume that small ambulance vehicle is like a first aid unit and the copter appears to come with a pilot....but crew....a nurse ? Where's a nurse ? :look:

And the guy slipped over on a solid banana....yeah, right we can bust that myth right ?

That might as well be two 16x16 plates connected with the tiles that are so conveniently placed in the middle.

Well, with a bit more personnel – let's hope they were just late for the preliminary photo ;) –, this is a nice small hospital, I think. Mining doesn't look bad either, it's just not something I'll need.

I'm pretty sure they used these tracks 3228c in DBG as found in the 3677 Red train.

But I'm looking forward to the mining theme

It seems like it is two 16x16 plates.

If you look right behind the doctor's hand you could barely see two diffrent plates.

But I hope bether pictures come's soon :classic:

At last the long awaited Hospital/medical centre. Although maybe not as hoped for but many times better than the previous hospital. The helicopter is quick big compared to last one. Looks a scaled down version of the police helicoper 3658 and fire helicopter 7206. The paramedic unit is very similar to the police dog van from the previous police station 7744. Will get this set all the same.

Will also get the advent calander mainly for the fire look out post and firefighters. Hopefully better than this years offering.

Finally not too sure about the trucks (tractor units) that pull the trailers on the mines sets. Look a bit square and bland but thats my opinion.

Happy lego 2012.

The helicopter seems to have room for one pilot and one stretcher =) I hope it's also room for one paramedic..

Same here. I love the new firefighter minifigs

On looking at the photo on the side you can see the casualty, ambulance medic, doctor then a space then the pilot. It is hard to make out if there is another figure in the space between doctor and pilot, but would make sense but then again this was the same line up as the previous hospital (just 4).

Looking at these sets I must say they loo much better than Prelims of this year, or at least the same level. The mining theme is a wish came true, since it is a combination of both City and a little of Rockraiders/power miners :cry_happy: . The hospital is very nice, altough I really have no need for yet another helicopter :sceptic:

 Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!

The mine looks amazing. I love the detail, and the crane is pretty cool. A definite buy for me.

The rest of the mine theme looks pretty bad to me. Dump trucks and diggers, stuff we've seen before.

The hospital actually doesn't appeal to me. I might change my mind after clearer pics surface.

So far, the 2012 City wave disappoints me. Right now, I'm only sold on the mine.
