Judging by the German Toy Fair pictures, the new mining sets look lackluster. I'm quite disappointed that the hospital is going to be an exclusive, as it hasn't shown up at any of the Toy Fairs. It's weird how it seems like there will only be 6 City sets this summer. I hope (and it's very doubtful) that City doesn't get the axe next year.

I don't think we have any reason to worry about the fate of LEGO City. It's consistently been one of the most successful LEGO themes for several years. Also, last year there were also only six summer City sets (the Red Cargo Train and five Harbor sets), except in the United States and some other countries where the Space sets got delayed until the summer.

Hmm, I didn't notice that. Good point.

It's just that this year we aren't getting a delayed subtheme released in the Summer in the US (Space {2011}, like you mentioned or Airport {2010}), and we aren't getting a Spring release exclusive theme (Farm {2009}, Cargo {2008}, Traffic {2007}).

Bare in mind that mining is a first for Lego city, it has to be more realistic than Power Miners....so if it looks lackluster that's because they haven't really designed anything like it in the past....unlike police, fire, airport or harbour.

Delays in product releases are so common that even inside countries exclusives can be withheld for special promotions/sales.

That may be true, but still some of the things like dump trucks have been done before in the Construction subtheme. None of the mining vehicles measure up to the 2009 construction sets IMO. Still, you have a good point. For some stuff this subtheme is a definite first. Even if TLG always has one "old favorite" like fire or police, and this year two, they have shown that they're still willing to either do brand new subthemes or revisit old ones that haven't been seen in several years, such as the Space and Harbor sets last year or the "rescue" sets like this year's hospital and ambulance.

I don't think they will discontinue City as I think it is one of the longest running themes.

I hope they go into the Forest more with a lake resort civilian set. :classic:

City garage eh ? OMG, it could be that truck stop I voted for two years ago.....but will it be an exclusive....I guess it's too early to tell....great, I've started "Studs-On-Bricks" with the older 7993....though I guess at the other end of town it could sit there right ?

Judging by the box size, it's going to be big....fingers crossed it's not full of air.

Can anyone tell me (based on whatever leaked images exist) if the new City Hospital looks like it includes any new torsos, other new parts (including new printed parts) or any stickers that represent medical stuff?

I dont know how much leaked info is out there, wanna find out if I should wait for the hospital before I build my own hospital MOC or whether there is nothing new in it worth waiting for :)

Based on box art minifigs are: 1 doctor (new torso with stetoscope, similar to 7902), 1 paramedic (same as in new ambulance), one civilian (generic male) and possibly a helicopter pilot. It looks like no new printed parts, cant tell for new parts and there certainly are a lot of medical stickers.

It looks like similar package like last years bank, so I guess availability and price will be the same (store exclusive, 50 euro)

A modern car parking site like the Metro Service Tower would be awesome, or the Truck Stop from the TRU vote a few years ago. I am guessing this is one of the large exclusives. :oh:

Yes, hopefully this is this year's fan choice set. :classic:

I have high-hopes for this set. If it's a reimagining of 6394, I will definitely pick up this set. :cry_happy:

rumours suggested a multi-storey car park if memory serves me. I imagine it'd have an elevator platform and stackable levels. And use this piece for the ramps.

A Multi-storey cark would fit in well with both regular city and the modular series.

I still have my Metro Park and Service Tower from when I was a kid and have never understood how it was never reissued, as it is a great set. Would love to see how it would come about the 2nd time around with newer pieces, though I assume it would be an Octan station this time around and not Shell.

Actually my feeling would lean towards a roadhouse or mini-mart style garage/service station....would make sense judging by the vehicles in this years city sub-theme of Great Vehicles, plus forest police/fire and finally mining....more rural than urban (even the medical centre is a small size that would be found in rural areas).

A new Service Station would also be much appreciated as the last one was from 2007 and is very pricey now. But a Metro Garage would just be such a cool set.

On Brickset I se listed a new hospital, it's only a rumor or some one can conferm that?

It's been shown as a preliminary picture. Since we didn't get any pictures of it at the German Toy Fair, I suspect it's probably a Target exclusive coming out in the Summer (and the Toys'R'Us exclusive is going to be the Car Park).

Car Park....nothing....my bet would be the truck stop I voted for a few years back.

But perhaps next week something might pop up in New York right ?

Hopefully. But to determine that, did the 2011 Toy Fair have any other City sets other than the Harbor theme? If they only had the Harbor theme there, we will only have the Mining theme there.

The truck stop would have the possibility of being really cool, and don't we need somewhere for all our City Semis to go?

Thank you very much for this information, whung! :classic:

Although I must admit that I'd have prefered a supermarket or a modern main street with hotel and Lego store, a mall or a pleasure cruiser, I even have to say that I like the idea of a park garage!

I agree with you, Brickenhead-town-dweller, that this would be a good part to link the different levels.

Nevertheless I highly doubt that TLG will include any ramps since they need a lot of place.

It's right that there was that TRU poll some years ago and that we have regrettably not seen a truck stop in the meantime, lightningtiger. But since the set description says "City Garage" or "City Car Park" I'm very sure that this set won't be a truck stop but will be a re-design of the amazing Metro Park & Service Tower.

I could well imagine it be like this:

-90-120 Euros, supposably 100 Euros (like Public Transportation Center)

-three storey big park garage with car elevator

-small Octan gas station with small shop

-maybe a car wash on the first level of the park garage

-car, cabriolet and motorcycle

-male Octan worker, female Octan worker, male car driver, female cabriolet driver, male motorcyclist

-maybe the new blue bicycle (seen in one of the Friends summer sets) with a driver

What do you think?

Anyway I'm really excited how this set will look like!

But since it seems to be a summer Exclusive, I won't await pictures appearing before June.

My opinion is that the garage will be a like those found along a motor way....the clue is the car and caravan plus 4x4 towing the bike trailer.

Edit - could be something like one of these......
