Piranha Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 It's right that there was that TRU poll some years ago and that we have regrettably not seen a truck stop in the meantime, lightningtiger. But since the set description says "City Garage" or "City Car Park" I'm very sure that this set won't be a truck stop but will be a re-design of the amazing Metro Park & Service Tower. I could well imagine it be like this: -90-120 Euros, supposably 100 Euros (like Public Transportation Center) -three storey big park garage with car elevator -small Octan gas station with small shop -maybe a car wash on the first level of the park garage -car, cabriolet and motorcycle -male Octan worker, female Octan worker, male car driver, female cabriolet driver, male motorcyclist -maybe the new blue bicycle (seen in one of the Friends summer sets) with a driver What do you think? Anyway I'm really excited how this set will look like! But since it seems to be a summer Exclusive, I won't await pictures appearing before June. Klaus-Dieter Yeah I have to agree with this assessment also going to add this in for discussion as well. I'd be guessing you're correct. Our guest from TLG this year at Brickvention was a designer. He's currently moving to be responsible for the city range. While he didn't discuss upcoming sets, he did make a comment that he was concentrating on the themes that were about to be refreshed and hadn't looked at trains yet. Which suggests to me that new trains are at least a year away if not more. That wouldn't include any special trains like Maersk or Emerald night but I'd be surprised if we see a new one till the Maersk is close to the end of its run. Refreshed City sets from the past possibly? Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Refreshed City sets from the past possibly? Perhaps ideas from their 1980's idea's books....there were many house and shop designs in those.....different vehicles too. Quote
muscleman Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 It's been shown as a preliminary picture. Since we didn't get any pictures of it at the German Toy Fair, I suspect it's probably a Target exclusive coming out in the Summer (and the Toys'R'Us exclusive is going to be the Car Park). Its not a rumor, there has been a preliminary box picture posted somewhere so we know its real. thanks both..I hope to have more news soon...and he new garage will be good 'cause I lost the last one grrrrrr Quote
just2good Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 (edited) Toy Fair image of the mine from the Brickshow! Toy Fair picture of the excavator transporter from the Brick Show! Edited February 12, 2012 by just2good Quote
sages Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 transporter from the Brick Show![/url] Thanks for sharing! Guess I am less exciting about the new mining set now. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Well at least the miners hats look good and the large dumper has a brick/plate built tray....a little bit more stable than the last one. Hopefully more images appear shortly. Quote
jth781 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 A city parking garage is a great ides for a city set. I also have the metro park service station and modifed it so it could work with LEGO Citys larger cars but wouldents mind seeing a newer version of it. I would rather see something like a car dealership or supermarket or zoo. Quote
Chewk Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 (edited) Does anybody have an idea what set this truck will come in? http://cdn.toyark.com/news/attach/6/9/toy-fair-2012-lego-097_1329062700.jpg Edit by Rufus: Your picture is too large. Please resize to a maximum 800x600 px as per Site Guidelines. Thanks! Edited February 12, 2012 by Rufus Quote
Ricecracker Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Does anybody have an idea what set this truck will come in? I was wondering the same thing. The license plate suggests set 7747, but that is the Wind Turbine Transport from a few years back. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 That truck is an odd ball, perhaps it was meant to be part of the set but cut.....okay, who's up for a scratch build of it ? I might try it ! How about now a link to detailed pictures of the mining sets eh ? Toy New International Lego Images Quote
Rufus Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Toy New International Lego Images Ooh, more vehicles! I think there are new wheelarch parts in the Mining 4x4 4200 Not keen on the larger wheels in the Tipper 4201. I think 7631 got this sort of truck pretty much perfect; this latest one is - to use a word I hate - too <insert that tiresome argument> Quote
Piranha Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Indeed some nice coverage already. I didn't spot the hospital set though. The new mining sets are alright I suppose, after "Power Miners" I thought "realistic" mining wouldn't be visited. Quote

We'll need to see the set in a review to judge how good or bad it is. Edit - I just noticed that the miners hats have 1x1 trans-clear round tiles as headlamps. TomRoid Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I hope the Hospital will be another stackable building. Quote
Rick Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I think there are new wheelarch parts in the Mining 4x4 4200 They're also in a few early 2012 City releases (click, click, click, click, click, and... click ) Overall, not that impressive and indeed, there are hints of (for lack of a better term) juniorisation. It certainly doesn't compare well to the early 2012 City releases. Indeed some nice coverage already. I didn't spot the hospital set though. I guess it will be an exclusive in some countries and therefore isn't presented as part of the regular City lineup. It doesn't fit in a subtheme for this year either: forest police and fire, (civilian) vehicles (which includes the ambulance), or mining. Quote

Cutty Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Goodness! I dig those mining sets a lot! Although I'm not into City per se, my Castle dwarves just need those new mining hats! Seriously I'm having trouble distributing my limited funds as it is, but this will break all plans... Yes! New mining hats! Be well all! Cutty Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 (edited) Look at the Truck behind the minifig on the banner in THIS PICTURE. What truck is THAT???? EDIT: Apologies to CHEWK, who asked the same question above. I missed it during my first scan of the last few pages. Edited February 13, 2012 by Mr. Elijah Timms Quote
EM4CZ Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Look at the Truck behind the minifig on the banner in THIS PICTURE. What truck is THAT???? This is official LEGO MOC, number on truck is from Wind Turbine Transport 7747. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 (edited) Thank you very much for these links, Chewk and lightningtiger! I must say that - apart from the smallest car (Test Drilling) - all these mining sets do absolutely not appeal to me. They look much too <insert that tiresome argument> - esp. the main set, namely the mine itself. I'm surprised how well this theme will really sell since there would be for sure other City subthemes like zoo, fun fair, safari, circus, ... which would surely be much more appealing to kids and even to us (I at least can speak for myself) than a mining theme. If TLG designed the mine more decent, it would have had potential - but not the way they finally did it. Look at the Truck behind the minifig on the banner in THIS PICTURE. What truck is THAT???? This is official LEGO MOC, number on truck is from Wind Turbine Transport 7747. I really hope that this isn't a MOC but an official set since I've been dreaming of a truck with loading platform and crane since years - and it does look that amazing! On the one hand I can't imagine any set where this truck could be included - apart from the Park Garage of which we haven't got any pics or detailed info. And that TLG uses a set number of a set produced only some years ago is strange. On the other hand all other vehicles shown on top of the sets demonstrated on the toy fair are official sets. So why should TLG add a MOC on top of only real sets?! That does imo make no sense. What do you think? Klaus-Dieter Edited February 13, 2012 by Klaus-Dieter Quote

Totally agreed on that point. I've been waiting for a System zoo theme for 30 years now! TLC was clever in this year in how they repackaged the same tired, old fire/police/construction sets. They're really the same old stuff we've been seeing year after year, but they managed to put a shiny new face on them. They're not just Police sets ... they're FOREST Police sets!! Likewise, they're not just construction sets ... they're MINING sets!! Here's my question -- TLC has been cycling through fire/police/construction sets for a while now. One year we get police stuff, the next year is fire stuff, the next year is contrusction stuff, then repeat. Well, now they've crammed ALL THREE themes into the same year!! What the heck are they going to do NEXT year? Quote

lightningtiger Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Next year I suspect we will see a relaunched airport collection. Yeah, with another fire station as usual ! On a different note, this years advent calander is better than last years....like another wheel barrow and brick-bricks like the ones found in the forest police station. Oh, yeah a hat stand for the fire fighters helmets....where ever I lay my hat that's my home ! Quote
