L@go Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) This set will be called 4442 Glider according to Brickset I know which set you're talking about, as I've seen pics of it before, but that image you're linking to shows up in my browser as "Please visit http://www.1000steine.com/ or http://www.brickset.com/ to view this image." I'd be surprised if I'm the only one this happens to... Regarding the set: I like the glider. The car, however, is seriously ugly and a big step back from recent Town designs. cimddwc Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 When the image still doesn't show when you're on the Brickset page, it's because the hotlink error image is still cached in the browser; reload the Brickset page, and the image should appear correctly. Quote
TomRoid Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 This isn't anything new but what do you think of the new City Hospital? Also, is it one of those CITY buildings where layers easily come off and swap with other buildings' layers? i.e. Quote

lightningtiger Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 To answer your question ' TomRoid ', no, that box art comes from 2010 house set. Quote
just2good Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) Also, is it one of those CITY buildings where layers easily come off and swap with other buildings' layers? i.e. {pic} Like the Bank and Money Transport, itt should be, since the top part of the building seems to be 16-wide. I love the 16-wide City buildings. Hopefully it isn't like the fire command part of the 2012 Fire Station set, as the top part of that couldn't be removed. Edited April 9, 2012 by just2good Quote

Jargo Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 That glider is a really nice model. Shame the car and trailer are so poor. Still it's only an airline exclusive. It'll be an easy job to recreate the glider with either the online instructions or just build it using clues in the photo. I certainy won't be chasing it down to buy. My town won't be having a major airport I've decided to just have a small airfield so a glider is well suited to that. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) The glider set looks thrown together, new hubs on the trailer and typical unrealistic hubs on the car ! Pity there isn't a tow plane ? Edit - the wings appear not come off so easy ? I consider this set a poor design. Edited April 10, 2012 by lightningtiger Quote
purpleparadox Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 I consider this set a poor design. At least this means we can expect lots of great MODs! Quote

Thing is it's bricks may look like they're already attached to the rest of the model. Also the rest of the Hospital isn't 16 wide so maybe it'd be too quirky to only have part of the building to be stack-able like that. But it'd be cool if they'd continue with these buildings. If it is one of those buildings then I could put it with the Toys R Us, City Corner, Bank, House and (not yet gotten) Shop buildings. I need to expand the Town though... TomRoid Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Actually, it's 16 X 6 instead of 16 X 8 and there may be nothing to properly separate it easily from the rest of the model. Sigh... Quote

The wings are really skinny whereas the LEGO versions wings are alot bigger. Still, I have just ordered two so can compare mine with 4442. Quote
Jargo Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Brickset has three of the Gold mining sets official pictures showing in their database now. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=4202-1 Mining truck http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=4203-1 Excavator transporter http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=4204-1 The mine Quote

just2good Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Even after these pictures, I'm still not feeling the mining sets. It seems like my city doesn't really need them, and there's no place to put it. I just hope they release a mining polybag, 'cause the mining helmet looks pretty cool. Quote

I'm totally going to pick that up when it comes to the states... lets hope it does... Edited April 12, 2012 by just2good Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 (edited) I must say that little polybag set looks cute and a very handy parts pack at that. Just noticed in the mine set something not very OHS.....a yellow door right underneath where the ore pours out into a tipper truck, you don't want to walk out at the wrong time and a mistake is make and you get dumped on. Though it's funny, they have no shovels but just pick axes and dynamite....again OHS problems. No wonder the other set this year is a hospital with evac copter ! Edit - I stand corrected, one shovel with a jack hammer (no compressor though). Edited April 12, 2012 by lightningtiger Quote
meyerc13 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Edit - I stand corrected, one shovel with a jack hammer (no compressor though). Must be an electric jack hammer. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Must be an electric jack hammer. Yeah, must be cordless. I'm wondering when the mining sets are due to be released, as in Oz Kmart in June gets a big bite of the cherry...first one with them at least in Oz, but else where ? Quote

I'm totally going to pick that up when it comes to the states... lets hope it does... The crystal is almost certainly Warm Gold (Bricklink's Pearl Gold), not any type of copper. Although Warm Gold is very similar in color to Reddish Gold, a color used between 2003 and 2006 which is very similar to Warm Gold but is sometimes called Copper. Metallic colors are one reason I dislike many LEGO naming schemes. One name (copper) can easily refer to three or four different colors on Bricklink. But in any event, this crystal is the same color gold used in Pharaoh's Quest and most of the other mining sets. Quote
Jargo Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Yes. It is a gold mining theme after all. I wish they'd created a better gold nugget piece though. The crystal shape is great in transparent colours but looks a bit rubbish as a nugget. I'd have preferred something more like this gold nugget I doodled Quote
LEGOcityman97 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 LEGO release Olympic Team GB minifigs. A special edition licensed LEGO Minifigures Olympic edition. it's 9 characters representing athletes in Team GB colours, but is just developed for the UK market and exclusively available in the UK.
