fyrmedhatt Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I've always wanted a Lego hospital, and I might still get this one, but I certainly won't get it at full price. I like the exterior of the hospital/clinic, it looks modern and interesting, but I agree that the interior is lackluster. The biggest sin of the set is in my eyes the ambulance, it looks horrendous and reminds me of the generic low quality vehicles of the late 90's and early 2000's (think Town jr. and Jack Stone). I would call Lego support for a new doctor minifigure, the design as seen on the box looks excellent, but the printing is just nasty, the coat covering the pants does not resemble white, and they were not even able to fill the pupils. The other minifigures are generic like the majority of City minifigures, Lego really should take a clue from the CMF's and all the new themes with spectacular minifigures and realize they could easily increase the appeal of the line. This set screams great concept, poor execution, with some more attention of details this would be a fantastic set, but as it stands now it's forgettable and leaves me thinking that the last good Lego hospital was released a quarter of a century(!) ago. Clone OPatra Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I never really buy City sets, but I can appreciate when LEGO does one right and be disappointed when they mess it up. Like others have said, the building looks nice from the outside. So who needs the vehicles, especially the stupid helicopter? It's so useless! They should've just made a really nice hospital, kids could get the excellent previous ambulance, and LEGO could release a separate helicopter. What a shame. Quote
Faefrost Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Has anyone noticed if set 4430 the Fire Transporter / Fire Command Unit has been released anywhere? I have yet to see this beast in my neck of the woods, and it looks kind of cool. Quote
Redhead1982 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I totally agree on the printing of doctor's torso. Design by itself is great, however, it looks quite terrible seeing a bluish printing of otherwise all white coat. I guess that's just a beaut thing with the set. ... the doctor's legs not colour matching right... Anyway, the set is 100% off my wanted list, although I might get the doctor latter if I decide to make my own hospital. Cwetqo, was there anything else of the new wave sets in Munich? Quote
Cwetqo Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 They had: City: hospital, large mining truck (xxl version) Monster fighters: zombies set Super heroes: all sets from first wave Micro modulars (also assembled in glass cube) Some Ninjago and friend sets also looked like from new wave, but i'm not 100% since i dont know them so well. Graysmith Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 The doctor's botched leg prints are some serious YIKES. It doesn't even look close. Can't believe LEGO would release a figure with such sub-standard printing. Quote

Can't believe LEGO would release a figure with such sub-standard printing. Hopefully TLG will pick up on this and make improvements on the leg prints when the run future batches of this hospital. Maybe they could do this doctor as a future CMF. For now the nurse from the CMF series 1 will stay in the 7892 hospital and the surgeon from CMF series 7 will have to stay there too as there is no operating theatre in the new one. Cwetqo, is the patient stretcher a tight fit in the back of the ambulance/paramedic response unit? Quote
TomRoid Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) *snip* IS this set going to have a removable top level like the Bank, House, Pizzeria or Shop? Don't make me start a new topic. Edited April 30, 2012 by Ricecracker Please don't quote pictures unnecessarily Quote
meyerc13 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 The size difference between those two ambulances is incredible. I think the Great Vehicles ambulance is too large, it's the size of the garbage truck after all, and the one with the new hospital is too small. If they had made the Great Vehicles more like a US ambulance, with something like a Freightliner Medium Duty Truck cab and a slightly larger box in the back, it would have made sense for it to be larger than a Sprinter style ambulance, but only about 25% larger. As it is, I wouldn't want to use both in my LEGO City, so I think I'll have to MOC my own ambulances. Quote
TypoCorrecto Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 IS this set going to have a removable top level like the Bank, House, Pizzeria or Shop? It does not appear to be modular like those other sets. There is only one plate separating the two floors in the hospital which tells me they are permanently connected, but I could be wrong. As far as the 2012 City sets go, I am not impressed. The only set I may pick up is the Parking Garage set, whenever that is released. Quote

Cwetqo, is the patient stretcher a tight fit in the back of the ambulance/paramedic response unit? Yes, it fits, with patient and driver (but not with doctor as in bigger version) IS this set going to have a removable top level like the Bank, House, Pizzeria or Shop? Don't make me start a new topic. No, the floors are fixed and layout is not entirely rectangular and there is passage to garage, so this not compatible to other two sets. But its the dame size and it looks good next to those. I have not yet assembled the bank, bu i think that its also not compatible. Quote
Kai NRG Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I shall look forward to your review 'Cwetqo', though from what I can see there is just two beds and a reception counter....my feelings for this set is starting to go down. I think the entire thing is lacking a little on detail - something that can influence my desicion a lot. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I'm ecstatic about the new hospital release, but very unimpressed on this set. For it's size resembling, privately-owned doctors office, the heli is enormous and the ambulance looking like it'll fit inside the other. Size proportions are way off... I feel as if TLG seems to struggle with releasing proper medical centers. And like others are saying, poor leg prints, this set leaves a lot for improving. I just hope it's in the same U.S. price range as the Bank... Quote

The Bank is compatible with the other 16-wide sets, but its colors don't look right with them. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Even thought the medical centre has a few issues, the ambulance setup and doctors mismatch colours.....so he spilt water on his coat bottom or tucked them into his surgeon's pants by accident I guess many with add on to this with out a problem. Hinckley Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Speaking of 8X16, is this one of those buildings stackable/modular/switchable level buildings like the Pizzaria, Family House, Bank and SHOP? Like this... It's 6X18 but the other buildings actual building has 2X16 left in front of it. Oh, is that what those did? I always wondered why those were so ugly. IS this set going to have a removable top level like the Bank, House, Pizzeria or Shop? Don't make me start a new topic. There's an echo in here... I thought I was going crazy... Good find typo! Is that a new torso I spy, the orange one? Or is it the fella from the Creator Lighthouse? Quote

lightningtiger Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Now which is better the medical centre or the parking garage ? I say garage by a nose, realistic wheels on at least two of the vehicles....it's a start right ? Quote
Cwetqo Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Here is short review on our local LUG site. http://kocke.si/forum/viewtopic.php?p=57373#57373 English version will follow, but I am a littile pressed for time now, so it will have to wait a day or two. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Now which is better the medical centre or the parking garage ? Hands down, the garage IMO. I can't wait for that. 4 vehicles, one being a VW! I reckon I'll have to put the PS and TH modulars off for a while Quote
