Brickviller Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Don't see this as a troll or anything, but the new sets (so far) look to me horrid, the overal design is just strange, and I think the entire concept of such a plane is archaic since the helicopter (with the same function) is still widely avaliable at least the dino sets look good to me . Still eager to see more Quote
The Cobra Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Come on, they can't ask 20 Euros for the fire truck, can they? As for the rest: dark red helemts = awesome! orange torsos and legs = I hope they have a nice print, otherwise, I should say they look quite bad. ATV = good for a daily mirror polybag, and a cheap way to own the new hlemet, but that's all. Not worth a fiver. Quote

(Remember how the previous LEGO City fire sets included a silver helmet for the Chief?) Also, not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but do you see the 1x1 round tiles being used for headlights and marker lights on the jeep and plane? Edited September 13, 2011 by Jordan S. Quote
Aanchir Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) Look at the SNOT engines on that plane! The "fire truck" is a bit weird and chunky, but other than that I'm not the least bit disappointed. I wonder why there are no police pics yet, but I'm happy just seeing these. LEGO City isn't a theme that I collect, but still I think recent years have really done it justice! Good point about the 1x1 round tiles-- pretty cool! Not sure if they'll have any defects that make them impractical (for instance, hard to remove), though. Also, new wheel wells on the jeep in the fire plane set! The old ones might have worked OK, but I appreciate variety. That tree in the Fire Plane set is also excellent. Edited September 13, 2011 by Aanchir Quote
Scorpion Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I just absolutly the jeep that comes with the Airplane! Is it me or somebody in the design team loves the Willis MB? (AKA WWII US Army Jeep) Why oh why isn't it a standalone set? I would buy the s#$@ out of it! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait for the instructions to come out and counterfeit it! Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 At least it's a start - actually I like the fire plane and small jeep - YES, round tiles, they'll have the same groove on the bottom like the small 1x1 tiles to help remove them. The fire truck....nice....easy to modify slightly into a airport fire truck too ! Puzzle, why a standard fire fighter with the larger jeep and all the others in the forest fire fighting gear ? Waiting now for more pictures. Quote

lightningtiger Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Oh, good spotting 'Aanchir', on the jeep and trailer....new wheel wells/mudguards ! No wonder I was told by a friend that city 2012 was going to be a good one. Quote
Piranha Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 thanks for the pics! The bear is great! I also agree that it will probably be either the single shade of brown or dark brown and not a mash of colors like those LURPs in 7666. Brickbuilt trees are nice but I was hoping for a forest of cypress Quote
David Thomsen Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 The minifigs look like they have new head prints... always welcome. I think the guy with the walkie talkie had ash marks on his cheek... I also wonder if he isn't wearing proper gear because it's stored in his utility trailer thing. 1x1 round tiles, one of those essential pieces that should have been created ages ago. Now we need 2x2 L-shaped tiles, etc... I prefer this new jeep to the previous Off-Road Fire Rescue, but I'm not buying the plane as well! Once again I wish it was possible to buy individual instruction booklets and polybags from sets on Eurobricks. I hope we get to see the police sets soon as well. Surely they are in the same catalogue? Quote

It's quite realistic, though, based on European forest firetrucks, like this Renault: Quote
lostdriveway Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 A couple of those bears will go great with my Circus / Zoo!! Quote
jonwil Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 The fire sets dont look too bad so far, still hoping TLG makes a red version of that tailpiece (which so far exists in blue, white and black) in a set sometime though as I have a project idea in mind that needs it :) I think the fire airplane looks far better than that ugly monstrosity of a seaplane we got a few years ago in the police theme. Quote
Bellicose Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 (edited) 4439 Police Heavy Lift Helicopter: 39,99 Euros (January) something was allready written about that, I will just add that it has two "grand emporium" quarter-dome at the front. So since you've seen it - how does 4439's design compare to the Dino 5885? I LOVE the 5885 design, it's a Lego Sikorsky SkyCrane/Erickson AirCrane. That could easily be modded into a fire helicopter too since their most common use anymore is for aerial firefighting. Here's a photo of one. I think the fire airplane looks far better than that ugly monstrosity of a seaplane we got a few years ago in the police theme. I agree, the only thing I dislike about it is that the engines are a little too far outboard on the wings - I'm guessing they're being used to cover the seams of wing plates, since TLG has been moving away from single-piece wings on airplane models for more brick-built ones. But that's easily remedied. Edited September 14, 2011 by Bellicose Quote
Mirandir Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Those helmets looks like they could be chrome red to me. (Remember how the previous LEGO City fire sets included a silver helmet for the Chief?) I think they look way to "unshiny" to be chrome. Also, not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but do you see the 1x1 round tiles being used for headlights and marker lights on the jeep and plane? Yep, 1x1 round tiles seems to be a new piece for 2012 they're all over the Ninjago theme. Quote

jonwil Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Love the new mudguards, a set in dark bley (plus those fat wheels) should let me improve the design of my 6-wide dark bley Landcruiser (the really rugged off-road kind, not the ugly SUV "Prado" model) Quote
MAH4546 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Forest police: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Mr-Z/Temp/lego_itp_076.jpg Generic vehicles: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Mr-Z/Temp/lego_itp_077.jpg I'm impressed with 2012's sets. I am dissapointed its more fire and police, but the rural themeing to them is great. My biggest complaint is that the forest police sets are blue and white, instead of going with maybe a green/white or brown/white ranger theme. But they at least have cool new forest-themed uniforms. Love the wheelbarrow and love the motorcycle transport. Quote
The Cobra Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I absolutely like most everything about the Forest Police, except: - the big helicopter - plain shirts (I'm quite sure we'll see something better in the official sets) - same old burglars - thieves - ex (?) cons (and I fear we're NOT gonna see anything different) As for the vehicles, bike transporter looks a bit too much like the horse transporter, but I'll be buying that one too (I'll be 5 for 5). Back on fire sets: Hooray for 1x1 round tiles and chrome helmets, but that's it. Quote
David Thomsen Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 (edited) - same old burglars - thieves - ex (?) cons (and I fear we're NOT gonna see anything different) There's a hayseed up that there tree... It's nice to see what I'll be spending my money on next year. Here's my thoughts: The car and caravan isn't as interesting as I had hoped... I'll still be getting it of course. I prefer the recycling truck I already have... pass! I quite like the truck with the motorcycles so I'll probably get that. It looks very similar to the crook's truck though, so I'll only get one or the other. I like that the tree at the police station looks like the forest fire trees. Good continuity there. Ooh! The base of the police station has the new brick-patterned bricks around the base! It's hard to tell if they are all 1x2 or if there are any longer ones. Different colour from the NinjaGo ones too. Also looks like it's built on a regular plate rather than a baseplate. I guess the switch was inevitable. The yellow car from the caravan set looks identical to the one from the service station a few years ago. Hmm. Edited September 14, 2011 by David Thomsen Quote
Brickviller Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 The sets look good, It's nice to see some new vehicles in the City line. My favorite is the big police helicopte. The rest of the sets are also good, but the fact that we had a fesh police theme last year makes me a little, unoptimistic about these ones Quote
