Greetings! Long-time lurker... Great community here everyone, I look forward to being a part of it.

I'm a huge fan of the midi-scale sets, they just fit so perfectly on my desk and have such incredible detail for their size. 7778 and 8099 both came out around this time of year I believe, so I'm a bit dismayed by the fact that I haven't been able to find any information about a third midi set to add to my collection. I know they received mixed reviews, but I was hoping TLG would keep it going. Does anyone have any info/speculation?

Thanks :vader:

Welcome to Eurobricks!

We have no rumours or confirmation of any Midi-scale sets for 2011. It is very late, and it is most likely we will not get one. It really is too bad, as I quite liked the Midi-scale as well, and was hoping for more sets in the line.

Crushing! I figured as much since I haven't found anything on the interwebs. Here's hoping for something in 2012... Thanks for the info, and the welcome!

I don't remember where, but I heard the line was stopped because they didn't sell well enough, which is a pity, because they were great parts packs.

Pritty sure they just didn't sell well enough. I ended up buying a heap of the Star Destroyers after they got to 70% off. Good parts packs, yes, But last time I checked Lego was a business :wink:

Im a huge fan of the line, but i agree with Legoman - The ISD got to a ridiculous 70% or 80% off via clearance here in NZ, so it doesnt really make sense to design and market a follow up. Such a shame - I love my Midi falcon and ISD....

80% off?! I should have waited longer. I agree with the others here, it really is a shame that this line won't be followed up in the future. They were sturdy, detailed, relatively affordable...

It's a good thing that AFOLs like Chris Deck have shown us what is truly possible in the MIDI-scale. I'm a conformist!, everyone...

EDIT: What's with the word censor? That was freaky!

Apparently that's how low it got in New Zealand. Lowest I saw in the US was 50%.

Probably Hinck's doing. What did you write?

Dang it! Midi and UCS- that's all I got going for myself in this crazy Lego collecting world. Now half that equation is gone and dusted while the other is being invaded by out of scale mini figs!

Oh well, guess I'll have more money for beer and vindaloos again!!!

Ahh! that 'conformist' thing. That happened to me once when I was quoting 'Lightning Tigers' old sign off a while back.

The one time LEGO wasn't cheapest in the States.

This business is oh so cruel to us AFOLs.

That's the one. Let's give it a go again...

Keep on brickin everyone!

Edit: Frack! Didn't work. Must need the 'g'. :hmpf:

Ah, just as I suspected.

There was the time the UCS Falcon was 75%-off in Canada.

lightningtiger coined that phrase? Wow...

75% off! Canadian AFOLs must have been parading the streets in celebration  (no offense to any Canada-situated AFOLs here).

Arch Dukes get powers of censorship if they 'coin' a phrase? Well blow me sideways and call me Roger 'cause this is one for Wikileaks...

That I had suspected the swear filter had turned 'Keep_on_Bricking' into 'I'm a conformist!'.

Well when I've made another 7000 posts I'm gonna get my deus ex machina to swear at anyone who types 'Legos'- That'll learn 'em.

As for the fall of Midi's I say a pox on all who failed to buy one. Selfish so and so's the lot of ya!

In order to turn my thoughts away on why in the world Brickdoctor would be online when I'm guessing it's somewhere around 4 or 5 in the morning where he lives and just how much free time he has on his hands, I'll bring back an old thread...

Several AFOLs have compared the Midi-scale sets to UCS sets due to the quality in their construction and detail, and I find this comparison quite appropriate. But alas, it appears that (as several users have argued in the above thread) the diminutive size and overall lack of grandeur in this Midi-scale sets, coupled with the fact that they lack minifigures, have caused them to sell poorly. What do you all think?

And to amend my comment on 10129 in the other thread... various sources state that the T-47 miniatures used in the filming of Empire were around 21" long. Being some 40-odd studs in length, 10129 is obviously smaller than 'studio scale' (as are 7191 and 7181, which are actually in 1:28 scale...)

@Anio: "Kreep?"*

It's only a modification, but hey!

*I'm hoping that some SEGA fan out there will recognize this reference.

Yes, a cockpit is a very nice addition to that 10026. :)

But the shape of the fighter is less streamlined.

And as you already said, it is "just" a mod.

IMO, 10026 is really a great set. And still the greatest N-1.

By the way, yesterday I read a very interesting review of these Naboo Fighters on FBTB. :)

edit : I guess I'm not a Sega fan.

When was this? I know I was asleep then. Perhaps you have the wrong time zone. Either that or maybe it's because I left my computer on downloading a large file and one of the tabs open was to Active Content.

That being because none of the N-1s were really that great. They just don't capture the sleekness of the craft. Though if it was branded a System set with the cockpit (which is a great mod that I did to mine, too, before I took it apart) I think 10026 would've been considered much better by fans.

Well at least I'm not the only one who will miss them... I suppose I'll just have to get a bigger desk to make room for more UCS models. I am currently building my first, 10212; it's pretty incredible but it dwarfs everything around it!

EDIT: What's with the word censor? That was freaky!

The staff got sick of seeing the phrase

Keep on Brickin

, since it was appearing way way way too much on the forum.

As for the midi scale stuff, I saw it more as a test from TLG, to see if there was a market. I think with no fig's they did not sell well, although i bought both, and love them, since sometimes you just want a model, and not a play set.

I don't remember where, but I heard the line was stopped because they didn't sell well enough, which is a pity, because they were great parts packs.

That's dissapointing. I loved the MIDI line- I got both sets as fast as possible. They were great ideas- nicely sized, detailed yet affordable sets. It's a shame to see them go.

There was the time the UCS Falcon was 75%-off in Canada.

What, seriously? Blast! Must have missed that!

I'll miss the midi line-up, too. It is a small enough size that you can pick up and swoosh ships around and recreate some scenes from the movies more easily and economically. At the same time, it's big enough to incorporate enough shape and detail so you don't have to tell someone what they are looking at for them to see what it is (usually):

Ah, yes, I'm a huge fan of your Midis, sparkart. :wub_drool:

I am also hoping that Star Wars micro figures will appear in the forthcoming Battle of Hoth LEGO Game, and cause a resurgence in Midi models. (and a new standardized scale)
