dhc6twinotter Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Wow...very cool! I like the turning drum used for the timing. Ingenious. I love it when people come up with off-the-wall stuff like this. Quote
CP5670 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 This is an excellent creation and looks deceptively simple. It must have taken a fair amount of work to get the bushes on the belts placed exactly right for this to work. Something about this just really brought me back to my childhood. It almost reminds me of those old science kits my brother and I had as children. It reminds me of those programmable models in the 8888 idea book. One of them has a belt like this that effectively contains "information" in the form of gear racks. These kinds of things wouldn't have sold well as standalone sets but showcased the possibilities of Technic in unexpected ways. Quote
Superkalle Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Thanks for sharing. I love it. Simple, clean and somehow addicting (you just keep looking at those levers and gears). Now for your next assignment: one of those billboards they have a airports where letters appear like with a rolodex. Quote
Lakes Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 This is brillant! Is there a list of parts for this? (Just to build the seven segment display part) Thanks! Quote
telecasterman Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 That's awesome! Especially the idea to use the drum to control the segments... Quote
aeh5040 Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 This is brillant! Is there a list of parts for this? (Just to build the seven segment display part) I don't have any instructions or parts list at the moment. I could perhaps take some more photos to make the construction clearer. Is there any particular part of the construction that you would like to know more about? Quote
