gratefulnat Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Tremendous result you have achieved with this MOC, Anio Your dedicated work has more than paid off! Thanks for showing. Quote
Aeroeza Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 You've hit another home run Anio! Smack right out of the ball park into the centre stump and also first past the post! Awesome job Quote
KimT Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Wow, wow and more wow. This is bound to hit the blog tonight No flickr account? Quote
Anio Posted August 7, 2011 Author Posted August 7, 2011 (edited) Thank you ! :) Have you got any ideas for your next project; could I suggest a re-make of 10143 Death Star II? Yes, I know what will be my next project. Yet another tricky ship. I do not plan to do a Death Star II. Yes, 10143 has lot of flaws, but I do not think a can do something significantly different and well done. Actually, the thing would be to mod 10143. :) No flickr account? No flickR account, indeed. Is it really necessary to have one ? Why ? Edited August 7, 2011 by Anio Quote
jphd95 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Very nice! Is that the minifig from the 2011 podracer set? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Regarding the tiled/studded surfaces, I tried to put some tile to hide some studs. But I do not want to put too many tiles. Indeed, I like studs. It is important to me to see them. On the wedge 4x9, it was hard to put tiles. :/ Cause I think it would have "harm" the conical shape. I understand. I just like my MOCs studless. No flickR account, indeed. Is it really necessary to have one ? Why ? It makes it easier on the blogger. KimT likes to have all the pics hosted on flickr, so if you don't have an account, he reuploads the pic to the EB Star Wars Forum flickr account. Quote
wokajablocka Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Awsome MOC, I cant even tell waht parts are painted. Looks very detailed around the engines, very good job as always. keep up the builds. Also like to explanation of the build outlining the difficulties in build this pod. Quote
jasonsmith Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Oh my... That is some fantastic work my friend. Well done. Quote
Illuwatar Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Just Amazing! What a level of detail in this build... I would like Lego to produce an UCS like this, not only massive gray ships... Quote
DutchRebel Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I don't know what to add to all posts, but still I would like to congratulate you on another fantastic model! You are truly one of the best MOC-ers around! DR Quote
andibandit Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Hi Anio, great job on the podracer, its mind numbing. I was just wondering, is there tubing inside the purple lightning? Quote
Anio Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 Thank you all for your very kind comments. I was just wondering, is there tubing inside the purple lightning? There are lightsabers in the cones (3 4L and 2 3L, if I remember correctly). Quote
Esvald Forceswoop Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 WOW, very cool! Nice job, really nice :D Quote
jamie75 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Wow, you never disappoint!! Great job all around! The shape, the details, nevermind the painting. I don't mind painting pieces when they are "needed", like on this model. Everything is perfect on this! Wish Lego would have you design some UCS models! Jamie Quote
Future74 Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Awesome MOC, breathtaking! As fallenangel309 pointed out the sheer detail of the engine compared to the model is what absolutely captured me. 4 months and 150 hours it definitly shows! Also complements to solving and explaining/showing the difficulties during the build. Again great work! Quote
I Scream Clone Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Wow, just amazing work on such a detailed and greeble heavy build as this. Lovely. Quote
pedro Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Superb work Anio, looks spot-on accurate. Love the sheer attention to detail you always invest in your creations. Surely deserving of a frontpage post! Quote
Anio Posted August 10, 2011 Author Posted August 10, 2011 Thank you for your kind comments. It's greatly appreciated. :) Surely deserving of a frontpage post! Yes, but apparently moderators think it doesn't. Quote
Cpt. Dan Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 WOW!! This is incredible! SO much orange What impresses me most actually is it is held up with the little clear blasters and it is "free suspending" like the "real" podracers. Excellent job. Quote
A-17 Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 really like that but have you ever thought of weathering your Lego like i do with trains and models. so that you make the pod look a little blacked and looks a not like a new pod right from the garage and every day Sebulba polishes it to keep it clean. may i reckimend using flat tiles to make it look more realistic. apart from that i really liked that Moc Quote
Jim Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 This picture left me speechless: The complexity of the techniques and extensiveness of the detailing exhibited in this build, coupled with the eccentricity of the original concept, work together to make this one of the best UCS MOCs I've seen. You've created an outstanding representation of a vehicle that couldn't help but be underappreciated in the Prequels (because of this MOC, the Plug-F Mammoth is now my favorite concept from The Phantom Menace next to the Radiant VII). Be very proud... Same here!! It's absolutely awesome!! I wanted to post the same thing, but you beat me to it. I love those little details. Even makes me want to look the podrace scene again. Kudos Quote
Anio Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 (edited) WOW!! This is incredible! SO much orange What impresses me most actually is it is held up with the little clear blasters and it is "free suspending" like the "real" podracers. Excellent job. Thank you ! Yes, the trans-clear support are actually not very visible given that the engines are very big. The engines are very stable because they lay on the ground with 3 points (2 supports and 1 wing). Moreover, the pressure on the support is only vertical (weight), so, there is absolutely no problem with the support. On the pod, it is far less stable because the support are much taller (17cm each). The cables help to make the pod a bit more stable. really like that but have you ever thought of weathering your Lego like i do with trains and models. so that you make the pod look a little blacked and looks a not like a new pod right from the garage and every day Sebulba polishes it to keep it clean. may i reckimend using flat tiles to make it look more realistic. apart from that i really liked that Moc Making a model looking dirty is not an easy task. I can do it pretty easily on the greebs where I can use several colors such as LBG, DBG, tan, copper, dark tan, etc. But it is much more hard on a surface which is supposed to be all the same color (orange). As I said in my previous messages, I put some tiles to add some textures. But it is not that easy. Indeed, the surface must not be overloaded with that kind of things given that on the real model these surfaces are empty (no details I mean). So, I put few tiles only. I think that studs and white flexs do more or less the job to change the textures. Moreover, I do not want my model to have no studs. I'm indeed very proud of building my models with Lego bricks. And it is important to me to show that. Same here!! It's absolutely awesome!! I wanted to post the same thing, but you beat me to it. I love those little details. Even makes me want to look the podrace scene again. Kudos Thank you ! :) And I would like to thank a lot Kieldaman for the frontpage. Edited August 15, 2011 by Anio Quote
