CommanderFox Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 So many great new things! In particular I like the laser beam piece! Also the shock trooper pieces are very nice. CF Quote
Jargo Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Just got my order. The trans brown is very brown which is great. The Lego trans brown bottle doesn't look right but the regular BF bottle in brown is like a decent sherry bottle Some of the clear trans items have a very slight smoky tint to them. The flask and regular bottle. very minor differences though. The broken bottle is a thing of beauty. I showed it to my partner who was very impressed. Then threatened me with it. The test tubes are so freakin' cute. While the square bottle is simple elegance itself. The warning light covers in clear trans will work well as drink glasses and the headlamp lenses will make great Petri dishes and ashtrays. The connections have lots of clutch so if you have clumsy fingers be careful not to apply excessive force. There was a Martini glass missing from my shipment but seeing as I received two freebies I'm not complaining. Overall I'm really happy I bought these. Hopefully trans green bottles will follow soon and then I'll buy some more. Quote
Omicron Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 The Lego trans brown bottle doesn't look right but the regular BF bottle in brown is like a decent sherry bottle Lego doesn't have trans brown. ;) That is trans black, which will eventually become a color for this mold. -Omi Quote

Omicron Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Their in-house name for trans black is trans brown though isn't it? If that's the truth, then someone needs to show them a color wheel. :P -Omi Quote
Jargo Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Yeah just checked the 2011 colour pallet, Trans brown #111 is what is generally referred to as trans black. There again they call tan 'brick yellow' and dark tan 'sand yellow' so the naming of colours in-house at Lego is all a bit wonky. Quote
SilentMode Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Wasn't there an old transparent colour that more closely resembled black? I know that the more recent version is brown. Quote

Joey Lock Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 You know what would be a good item to see next? A rifle stylized after the Kar98k. Quote
Jedi master Brick Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 (snip) This spam has been reported On another note these new products look good. On the brick fordge website they also a riot policeman and thug (had a few of both in England recently), are those part of the new wave? Quote
Omicron Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 are those part of the new wave? The items yes; the figures no. CustomMinifigs.com is sadly gone. :( -Omi Quote
K-Nut Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I know others have said this, but I love how brickforge really fits in with official LEGOs. I love that armor though. Quote
Nightshroud99 Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Yay mine came today! Can't wait to put the armor on some of my figures Quote
Aanchir Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Yeah just checked the 2011 colour pallet, Trans brown #111 is what is generally referred to as trans black. There again they call tan 'brick yellow' and dark tan 'sand yellow' so the naming of colours in-house at Lego is all a bit wonky. "Brick Yellow" and "Sand Yellow" actually make a lot more sense than people realize. Observe. As you can see, LEGO at one time had a pretty logical "spectrum" of colors to choose from. Many of those have been discontinued (those depicted as bricks rather than plates in the above chart), but there is still a pattern that includes many colors whose official names people have trouble understanding. Dark Green (Bricklink's Green) is one shade darker than Bright Green, and one shade lighter than Earth Green (Bricklink's Dark Green). Earth Orange (Bricklink's Brown) is one shade darker than Dark Orange. Together as a single hue are Light Reddish Violet (Bricklink's Pink), Medium Reddish Violet (Bricklink's Dark Pink prior to 2004), and Bright Reddish Violet (Bricklink's Magenta). Needless to say, not all colors can be organized according to this simple spectrum. Both old colors like Light Orange Brown (Bricklink's Earth Orange) and newer colors like Flame Yellowish Orange (Bricklink's Bright Light Orange) can't really be organized in this way. But still, some of the color names that confuse people the most in this day and age start to make a lot more sense in the context of this color spectrum. Transparent Brown doesn't make as much sense as some other color names in this particular context; it's a more specific color name rather than one that makes sense relative to other colors. However, it should be noted that a press release a couple years ago mentioned 111 Transparent Brown, 131 Silver (Bricklink's Pearl Light Gray), and 148 Dark Grey Metallic (Bricklink's Pearl Dark Gray) as colors that TLG was planning to replace due to difficulty in matching the target color consistently. 131 Silver and 148 Dark Grey Metallic were replaced toward the end of last year with 315 Silver Metallic and 316 Titanium Metallic, respectively. 111 Transparent Brown is still with us, though. So perhaps we may be seeing a "browner" Transparent Brown substitute next year. Alternatively, the replacement could be a proper "Transparent Black"/"Transparent Grey" rather than the smoky not-quite-grey, not-quite-brown color we've currently got. On the other hand, perhaps the design lab has changed their minds and they won't be replacing the color at all. Just something to think about. Quote
Omicron Posted August 17, 2011 Author Posted August 17, 2011 something something colors Bricklink makes it easier I guess. :P -Omi Quote
