Mesonak Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Many thanks for the detailed descriptions; I wish we could see the pictures! The sets sound interesting; the dinosaurs, I'm sure, will be a disappointment for some, but they sound neat to me; of course I will wait to see pictures before I form an opinion, but right now, this theme interests me. LEGOMAN132 Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 5888 sounds really cool as well as the Helicopter set. I hop the dinos are printed and not just blank molds. Quote
Mikeosaurus Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Wow, this theme sounds incredible! Amazingly detailed and colorful eh? Man, I can hardly wait for 2012! Looking at the descriptions I'm sort of surprised at TLG for including such a relatively obscure dinosaur as Celeophysis. I was sure they would just stick to the usual suspects; T. Rex, Velociraptor, Triceratops etc. Quote
Algernon Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Well, I'm cautiously optimistic. As usual, the larger sets will probably the best - that's been a trend with LEGO these days. Shame that the Dinos are one-piece. Quote
Mikeosaurus Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I realize that may be a downer, but I kinda prefer one piece dinos to the mix-and-match variety. Cautious optimism would seem to be the motto for all 2012 threads at the moment! Quote
PirateMatt Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) It looks like we'll get another Dino attack Just saw the preliminary pics... This theme looks exactly like the old one (Dino 2010) - dinosaurs vs armed vehicles. It seems to be a bit more influenced by Juassic Park movies, though. Sadly, the dinosaurs are one pieces, but have moving limbs and heads. It looks like their lower jaws can move, too. They are amazingly detailed and colorful, with lots of patterns like stripes and spots making them look realistic. The vehicles are mostly yellow with some red. New guns! The minifigs are mostly military-like guys we saw in Dino 2010. They look plain, nothing special if you ask me. ...and nobody didn't believe me back then, but dinosaurs seems to look better than Dino attack ones. Edited September 13, 2011 by PirateMatt Quote
Mikeosaurus Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Well, Dino 2010 was substantially different from Dino Attack. In Dino 2010 the focus is on capturing the mutants, rather than sending them to oblivion. Quote
ReZourceman Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Wooo! Yellow and red, kind of like ... These sound awesome, I want all of them. :p Quote

The minifigs are mostly military-like guys we saw in Dino 2010. They look plain, nothing special if you ask me. 5882 - a buggy vs. a dk tan celophysis 5883 - a green (sand green?)/tan pterodactyle (or, to be more precise, a pteranodon), a lookout tower with a fish on an extended pole to lure said pteranodon and an Indiana Jones-like minifig (I may be wrong, but his face reminds me of Jake Raines!) 5884 - an ATV vs. a very vicious looking green (sand green?) raptor 5885 - a weird looking helicopter chasing a red T-rex 5886 - an odd truck-like vehicle hunting a triceratops 5888 - a really cool giant plane resembling the one from Adventurers Dino Island, a small boat and a pteranodon (the same as in 5883) There's also the biggest set, a giant high-security compound, but I couldn't get a good look at it. It has a massive gate and seems to feature a green T-rex and a brown raptor. Hold on, you listed 7 sets yet we've only heard of 6?! 5888 I think hasn't been mentioned of before! Sorry if I'm wrong, this is my first post on eurobricks :D Quote
kris kelvin Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 where did you see these pics? Most of the leaks comes from retailers catalogues. And this pictures comes from Polish catalogue. I think in few days we will see sets from all series for first half of the 2012. Quote
Corydoras Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 ALl of this sounds great! regarding the new guns - are they by any chance like the long Star Wars blasters, but with a clip on top to attach something? If so I had a feeling this piece we saw on the Chinese eBay style site would be a sort of dart gun for this theme. Also, what are the figures like? what colours, etcetera? thanks for posting this information Yup, the guns have a clip holding what appears to be a syringe from the Collectable Minifigures series I! The minifigs themselves may be just prelim designs, but they all look the same (except for the Indiana Jones-like guy, who has a dk tan fedora). They all wear black aviator cap, some of them have the face of the cop from Collectable Minifigs series II. Wooo! Yellow and red, kind of like ... These sound awesome, I want all of them. :p That's why I said the vehicles have a Jurassic Park vibe to them - they sport the distinct "red tiger stripes on yellow" pattern. The patterns are stickers, I'm afraid. The helicopter and the plane also feature a logo that looks suspiciously close to the Jurassic Park one - a black T-rex head inside a yellow circle. If I was Steven Spielberg, I would definitely sue LEGO, lol Hold on, you listed 7 sets yet we've only heard of 6?! 5888 I think hasn't been mentioned of before! Sorry if I'm wrong, this is my first post on eurobricks :D There are 7 sets and 5888 is definitely my favourite. Quote
andhe Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Yup, the guns have a clip holding what appears to be a syringe from the Collectable Minifigures series I!... Great to seem more of the CMF parts making their way into the lego mainstream. Hopefully this clip will be something like the brickarms clip, for all us lego purists. That's why I said the vehicles have a Jurassic Park vibe to them - they sport the distinct "red tiger stripes on yellow" pattern. The patterns are stickers, I'm afraid. If I was Steven Spielberg, I would definitely sue LEGO, lol Is a loose jurassic park tie-in totally impossible? Could be a clever attempt to use the lego theme to drum up support for Spielbergs rumoured JP4? He's worked with lego before on the studios line, and is good friends with George Lucas... Look forward to see the printed dinosaurs and set pictures soon. Quote
Aanchir Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I think someone mentioned that this isn't likely a follow-up to Pharaoh's Quest because vehicles like helicopters are too modern. I'm not an expert on the history of aviation, so I'll trust their skepticism and assume this won't be a full-fledged Pharaoh's Quest sequel series (anyway, if it were, I'd expect TLG to play that up a bit more in the theme name and retailers' catalogs). But I'm still curious if the fig who seems to resemble Jake Raines might actually be Jake Raines. Even if it's not a true sequel to Pharaoh's Quest, after TLG brought back Dr. Brains in the Atlantis theme I'm not going to put anything past them. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) As a reptiles/dragons fan I must say that new dinosaurs looks a lot more "Legoish" than ones from previous series, they look a lot scarier and in other hand realistic too!. Ahh and the posability! Amost all seems to have neck, jaw, arms. legs and even a TAIL articulation! Edited September 13, 2011 by Lordofdragonss Quote
Housey98 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 There are 7 sets and 5888 is definitely my favourite. Seems a bit disapointing to find that they are using another pteranodon in this set, instead of a new dinosaur the doesn't appear in any other sets. Quote
Algernon Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Wait, I'm confused - are people posting these pictures somewhere?? Everyone seems to be talking like we've seen them! Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Wait, I'm confused - are people posting these pictures somewhere?? Everyone seems to be talking like we've seen them! There were some pretty good descriptions a few pages back. But Iam sure pictures are out. Quote
God Iron Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 An interesting theme, but I think I would need to see pictures first before I can make a real judgement. LEGO sets are going a bit 'ol-skool' aren't they? Quote
LandShark Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) I'm slightly hesitant to completely believe this, but we've just got some pic's in the Ninjago Topic. So their probably true. I really don't know what to think. I'm a bit busy now, so I'll post my opinion later. Hopefully we'll have some pics by then... Sorry for the double post, but it looks like I won't have to wait for pictures, this just appeared in the City topic: Click Here EDIT: Weird, my 2 posts got merged together. And Vertea just beat me to the pics. Edited September 13, 2011 by LandShark Quote
---Vertea--- Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I know the hate is coming, but personally, I LOVE the new molds. They look like action figures, yes, but they also look like proper dinosaurs! I want them all! I think they look much like the old dino island dinos mixed with the Dino 2010 dinos in a perfect combination of the two. Quote
The Cobra Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I like the three smaller sets, I'll surely be getting 'em As for the big ones, not bad, but I don't know if yellow works so good on them. Quote
Brickviller Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 It seems to totally live up to my expectations, except the peacefull thingy. It seems like Dino 2010, but much, and much better. The dino's are more detailed but still look like Lego's. My end of the day could not be better Quote
Sirens-of-Titan Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Awesome stuff thank you Vertea!! Let's see; this is about as close to Jurassic Part as you can get without breaching the copyright law. I love the dinosaurs, very neat printing and detail on them and bright colors really give them a new and exotic feel! The triceratops in particular is very appealing, and so is the raptor! The vehicles aren't very impressive but do offer a bit of useful parts. (Although yellow is a hard sell for AFOL's) It seems they are taking the tranquilizer dart approach so that this isn't actually hurting dinosaurs, just putting them to sleep; I don't mind, easy on the kids and a great source of chap syringe pieces! Apart from the dinos and guns no real variety of new molds, but these are still preliminary so possible later on we will see some new gems. Here's to another great new theme! Quote
