Anyway, only two episodes have aired here in the United States; the rest aren't airing until January according to the commercials. :hmpf_bad: If anyone knows where I can watch high-quality versions of the later episodes, I'd appreciate a link.

Ditto.

Also, pink ninja, wha--? Any chance someone could link me to the post that shows a pink ninja?

Incidentally, where do you get the idea that Zane's obviously in love with her? Is that more from the fourth episode?

I don't know, I said I don't watch the TV series, so all I know is that someone with the -ay sound in their name is in love with Nya.

The eyebrows of the green ninja looks like they belong to Lloyd Garmadon.

I can kind of see that:

Also, anybody think that the five on his torso might be a hint? There are for ninjas now, but maybe he'd be number five. :sceptic:

Thanks. Any chance of a link to a HD version of the full episodes? (Only Episodes 1 and 2 were released in the U.S.)

Hmm...let's also note that that number 5 is green...

Green Ninja has "adult" sized legs. Lloyd has "child" sized legs. Unless he either grows up suddenly or is wearing some sort of stilts....

You could all be right. It's not like the world of Ninjago is particularly logical at times anyhow. He could easily use some sort of spell or something - or even just stick some 1x1 plates to the bottom of his legs, since it's established that their world is made out of LEGO pieces, or at least the vehicles and whatnot. If Lloyd is the green ninja then I'm sure the height difference can be explained away.

Also, is it just me or do the "metallic" parts of the green ninja's costume (pauldron shoulder pad type things and headband/tiara type thingy appear to be a gunmetal colour, as opposed to silver or gold like the normal ninja?

As seen in "Power Rangers Turbo," to increase the similarities between Ninjago and PR?

'Tis possible.

I don't think that we even know if he is going to be the green ninja in 2012. I think that the rumors said that the ninjas only discover who the green ninja is. So it is very well possible that he does "grow up."

Has it even been confirmed that the green ninja is a character that we know of already? it could just be that the green ninja turns up out of nowhere, but from whatI've read it's supposed to be the "destiny" of an established character. Hmmm. Do you think we'll find out soon?

Is it just me or are the Green Ninja's eyes really close together compared to other characters?

The green ninja had aspects of all of the ninja: he had control over fire (Kai), he had extreme strength (Cole), and... wow, somehow I can't remember the things he had in common with Jay and I only watched those episodes about four or five days ago. But anyway, I thought it was worth mentioning that he was similar to all of them because Lord Garmadon has control over all the elements (albeit "unbalanced"). So since Lloyd Garmadon is Lord Garmadon's son, maybe he could potentially have control over all four elements, leading to similarities to the ninja masters of each one? It seems like kind of a stretch to me, but remember, Greg Farshtey is the one coming up with this stuff. For all we know, the Green Ninja is Lloyd from the future, which would explain him being larger.

EDIT: Rocketbilly, it was stated by a scroll Sensei Wu had that the Green Ninja was one of Sensei Wu's four students.

So now that I think about that, maybe Lloyd isn't the green ninja. Or maybe the scroll is wrong.

While its not worthy of much consideration, I found ONE new 2012 set in wal-mart today, Venomari Shrine. It was attractive, but I did not get it.

Dude, you're missing out. Zane ZX is awesome, and even if you don't like the set (as is, the shrine build itself is rather "meh"), the parts are epic. Translucent neon green grilles? Yes, please! 1x2 bricks with engraved brickwork pattern? Oh, yeah!

IIRC, Zane had to translate the scroll from "the ancient language of the land." Speaking from experience, it can be VERY hard to translate from Japanese to English, and that's when the Japanese has been transcribed into hiragana/katakana; with Kanji, some of the individual translation quirks for each character can become so complex, it can make a full, accurate translation almost impossible. I find it likely that Zane's translation was a little off.

Also, looking from a merchandising standpoint, if the Green Ninja is an addition to the main cast (instead of a replacement), that means there's one more character they have for 2013's new forms (and thus, one more spinner set for the kids to collect).

In other news, Earth Dragon Defense just arrived, meaning I have now built all four dragons! You know, the way the rock plates are attached on the sides makes me think the very first plan was to put the wings there...I'm thinking with a visit to Bricklink and some ingenuity, I can give him wings like in the video series. Has anyone else here tried this, and if so, how did it go?

I dunno... personally I was of the opinion that the sand green "shield plates" on him were some sort of vestigial wings. I think the wings in the show were only added so that it could fly along with the others.

And I like to think that the "5" on Lloyd's shirt means he is 5 years old. Lord knows he acted like it in the TV show.

Something else to note about the Green Ninja is that he ties his belt similarly to Lloyd-- higher on his waist than the other Ninja. Not sure if that's relevant.

The exact wording of the scroll (at least, as exact as I can remember it) was that one ninja would rise above the others and become the Green Ninja. But at the same time, I believe this was read by Zane, who was himself uncertain about how the scroll should be translated (it was in an ancient language). So having it so that he misinterpreted the scroll would be the sort of subversion of expectations that is wonderful for this type of storyline.

I believe Lloyd´s no5 on his shirt only means he used one of his old sweaters to paint a ribcage pattern on it. You can see the dripping white paint on closeups.

It could be Elvis who is the green ninja. He has them sparkling studs on his robe.

I thought it was clear that Zane's encounter with Garmadon and the green ninja was a dream sequence. And the fact that his white outfit got ruined is another strong indication that he will indeed go green.

I don't know whether these two sets photos have been revealed before.

Since I did not find any information about 9455 at this moment.

EEF this is awesome.

Also: http://jayvincentmusic.com/ <- Ninjago TV/Movie music composer. My favorite is probably "The Lost City of Ouroboros" (probably because I like the name Ouroboros)

Interesting... the walker looks kind of odd, and the snake heads in the arena remind me of the Bohrok's old head-smashing function.

Also, what? The green S that was previously on Lloyd's torso is now a 5? If the similar face wasn't enough confirmation, this probably is.

A pink ninja... interesting. I'd like to have a few of those.

So that scythe... has to be a new piece, huh? I was thinking it would be cobbled together spinner add-onn blade stuck to a nunchuck stuck to a stick, but I don't see the right connection points

It was always a five. Just because it's meant to evoke makeshift evil duds made from his soccer uniform or something. But I never thought of it as a 5th green ninja foreshadowing. That would be really clever. I don't bother with the story but from set descriptions it seems like he's just supposed to be a wannabe bad brat klutz type, and I wouldn't expect him to go down the road to hero. Maybe regret his troublemaking at the most.

and Lego's always had this teeny repertoire of recycled action features  case in point: their insane catapult fetish

I'm pretty sure it's the spinner add-on blade piece, plus this piece, plus this piece. In that case, only the blade is new in Warm Gold.

Anyway, both these sets are very nice. I think the mech looks a bit goofy, but it's got some lovely parts. And the arena with the lunging dragon and snake heads is brilliant-- far more exciting IMO than most of the other arenas we've seen. These are probably both store exclusives, which explains why we haven't seen them before. Neither is a must-get for me, but once the full 2012 line is available I might find that these would be economical options for either parts or minifigs.

Yes, I've been waiting for that mech! :sweet:

Also, I watched the first episode of Rise of the Snakes, but I lost my interest when the second episode had crappy quality. I might get back to it later, but I'll find a different video. I really hate low definition. :hmpf_bad:

Ah there ya go. You're right of course. Gave up after my first hypothesis, that's pretty bad

And I agree, they're nothing special, no creme de la creme, but I feel like that about some of the wide release sets too. Namely, kai's bike and the rattlecopter. Wake me when the Fangpyre Truck comes out. started piecing that one together on LDD (all the flair and no guts  ); some stellar technique and shaping on her.

With a few great exceptions, the store exclusives too often scream 'afterthought' and 'recycled, stripped down, mainstream set medley', but like you said, alternate minifig source and full of good parts (nuckals atv). My qualm with that skink walker is that plus diluted echoes of the capital U-g-l-y that is the Mine Mech, awkwardly intersected by a stubby viper. I love big tacky monster shaped vehicles (skull truck), conceptually a snake walker is appealing, but the realization falls short.
