Anyone have any guesses what the exclusive minifigure in the Ninjago Minifigure Encyclopedia will be? Blurbs for the book say it comes with a fully-armed minifigure, so it likely won't be a civilian character like Ed or Edna. I'm waiting for the official US release of the new season to watch it (no leaks for me), but there might easily be some characters in it who are suited to an exclusive figure like this.

For those of us who have watched the new season, I pray to the Lord on high that its not

Dareth!

I would feel better if he just came in a normal set (or spinner).

Do we know a specific date when the Ninjago Encyclopedia will be out?

I hope he's never even made into a figure. Actually, I was going to suggest him in my previous post. I just don't want a brown figure. I mean, well...just no.

Personally I don't mind him. But really, after seeing episode 17, I don't think he'll ever make it into a set

Edit; Guess I'll have to eat my words; the stud is pinkish, and it's also just a stud

I was thinking the figure would be a Green Ninja/Lloyd with shorter legs to be more accurate to the show. Well maybe we'll see something of it tomorrow at CC.

Too bad we won't be getting a purple tile for use on Pythor's staff.

Yeh I was getting excited for a while but there are WAY too many opportunities to get one in the future!

Anyway is anyone else as excited as I am to see what this BIG announcement is for Ninjago at Comic Con tomorrow

Indeed

I to am excited to hear what this "BIG" announcement is, hopefully it's that there is another wave coming, this theme got me back into lego bricks and building them, so if its another wave I'll be happy, but most likely its a "BIG" announcement for the TV show.

To be fair, they are running Ninjago down to the wire ideas-wise.

Yeah, I agree with you I kinda think of it the way Aanchir thinks of it, the story does have a beginning, middle, and end(seeming from the TV show's new season), either it's going to have a end where Lloyd ultimately kills Garmadon once and for all(kinda cliche  )or Lego is going to pull a fast one and which Garmadon retreats cough starscream cough which could lead to a new wave or another season in which Garmadon is killed(I know lego wouldn't go that far) or destroyed forever as the prophecy foretells, either way Ninjago is probably going to end with either of these scenarios, witch seems fair in my opinion.

More likely it will end with a "everyone wins"-scenario, where Lloyd convinces his father to return to the "good side" and Garmadon helps defeat the new threat for 2013. That way every loose end is wrapped up and you don't violate LEGO's "no killing"-policy.

They did a pretty good job of killing off Samukai and Pythor. Just sayin'.

I have a feeling that Garmadon will turn good. Like, there's an evil side to him that needs to be destroyed by Lloyd, and then Garmadon will become his older, normal self.

That would seem to be the ideal way to approach the final conclusion in a family-friendly way if TLG does in fact intend to bring the Ninjago storyline to a complete close based on the Green Ninja prophecy. Samukai's and Pythor's deaths were a quite different case as they essentially brought about their own deaths, whereas if the Green Ninja prophecy has any truth to it then the "Dark Lord" (Lord Garmadon) will have to be defeated in confrontation with Lloyd, one of the "good guys".

I think that Ninjago could effectively be dragged out longer if that were TLG's intent-- it took BIONICLE eight years for the Great Spirit Mata Nui to be awakened and revealed as a giant robot which housed the Matoran Universe, an event which was foreshadowed from the beginning in 2001. Ninjago, like BIONICLE, features a pretty versatile universe, so I don't think running out of "bad guys" for the Ninja to face or new costumes/vehicles/etc. for them to use would present too great a challenge.

With that said, I also don't think this sort of story would be in the theme's best interest. It would just add extra time for fans to lose interest in the theme as it dragged on, or to become disillusioned with the changes that would be necessary to keep it from becoming stale (already some fans lost interest after the Ninja got their own vehicles, and more years of story would demand more changes to the status quo). I'm glad TLG seems to have an end in sight.

Today's the Ninjago day at LEGO's booth at San Diego Comic-Con, so we'll see what sorts of things might be revealed. We know to expect a sneak peek at the upcoming season of Ninjago (which will begin airing in the U.S. this Wednesday!) as part of the Ninjago panel, but what other revelations might be in store remain to be seen.

That same 8 years was also Bionacles downfall. The line was so profitable, that TLG failed to notice or plan for when it wasn't. They didn't recognize the evolving nature of their fan base.

Whereas 3 years sounds about right for Ninjago. The target market and audience is young boys. Figure your initial fans have about a three year span before they will grow and move on to something else. In some ways it becomes easier to hook the next audience with a whole new story that can be "theirs" rather than trying to pull new viewers into the already developed 3+ years of story and characters (and toys they cannot find on shelves anymore, etc). Basically don't keep milking the cash cow until its dead. Cultivate the product lines and plan for your current fans to grow up.

I think it would be fitting if the pirates did turn out to be the winter '13 sets, because it would give TLG an excuse to use blue boxes.

That is true. That's definitely another thing I've considered... if there are new sets in 2013, what color boxes might they use? Blue would be a color they haven't used before, but one of the major considerations in TLG's box designs is making them stand out from other LEGO themes, and blue borders are already used on boxes in the City theme and the Star Wars theme. Maybe purple, since it will be in a separate aisle from LEGO Friends at most retailers, and since Lord Garmadon will likely still be a central character, but who knows?

Well, excited to hear the news from the pannel. BTW, I fully believe that Lloyd's true potential will be unlocked after his father turns good again.
