Posted August 12, 201113 yr What type of flagship do you want? I want fully motorized & pneumatic flagship (4x4 off-roader with suspension & portal gearboxes from set 8110) with motorized winch (1 m motor), suspension with choose of height (1 m motor), steering (1 m motor), & ride (1 xl motor)+ pneumatic functions: pneumatic lockable centre diff, front diff & rear diff & selection from: RWD, FWD & AWD.
August 12, 201113 yr Anything with new pneumatic (like longer cylinders) and/or transmission/gearbox parts (like more clutch gears in sizes other than 16t) and/or servo motor for controlling steering/gearboxes/pneumatic valves remotely with proportionality and accuracy. Until we get such a servo, I will never be sold on RC sets.
August 12, 201113 yr Unless TLC goes to a different type of power functions motor, I highly doubt we'll be seeing any type of vehicle that can actually move at a decent speed.
August 12, 201113 yr I loved the remote control excavator, I'd like another remote control vehicle but preferably with wheels, some sort of off roader.
August 12, 201113 yr I think we will see a rc vehicle next year as we had the rc excavator last year and the bulldozer in 2007. I think it would be allready possible to make some sort of servo motors using nxt motors.

August 12, 201113 yr Anything that has no wheels or tracks will do :D An airplane of some kind? (sea plane) A helicopter? A space shuttle? (to follow up 8480 (same color please)) A submarine? (8480 again) A boat? (like 8839, but bigger and with more functions) A walking machine? Something organic? (the dinosaur) It's not like there are no options :) But I'd just like to see something that deviates from the norm. We sometimes see that, but not recently for a flagship :) Also I still don't get the PF-mania people seem to be having. All that PF does is raise the price, and 8265 proves that a set with no PF can be a great set too. I'd like to see a flagship without PF for once.
August 12, 201113 yr I've always liked models that can do things, like construction machines. I'm not so fond of car models (in fact I don't own any flagship car/offroad set). I need a loader bucket or a crane claw to think they are worth it. So with that explanation I can say that I don't want a car/offroad vehicle. But also I will not cry if it lacks "track or wheels". It is time for TLG to renew themself with a flagship that stands out.

Do u not think the unimog stands out?I think they try to stick with construction vehicles as it's what they do best,I don't have cars ether but I'm considering getting this years car as it's big and will be a change from the norm for me,maybe a Xmas present from my wife :)

We have come to expect that the flagship model can do the real life task it is modelled after. The bulldozer can (with PF) push things, the crane truck and unimog can use their crane via PF and PF+pneumatic. The excavator can load lego parts. So as long as TLG hasn't invented an anti-grav device and embedded it into a helicopter we don't see that as flagship model.
August 13, 201113 yr i think we got a cherry picker as a flagship model a little joke, there are enough cherry pickers for years. a articulated Volvo Dumper in white with 94,3x38R tires, very long pneumatics, all wheel drive, fake engine, remote controlled pneumatic valves, Servo control for steering and radio control. but we could only guess, lego will go surprising us. does anyone a year ago know, except tlg, that will come a unimog as the flagship model? maybe we will get a new space shuttle, a fully RC 5-axle concrete pump or something completely different. a VW Samba maybe? August 13, 201113 yr As I said in the other 'next flagship' topic, I would love to see a fully remote controlled walking biped dinosaur. A bit like the T-Rex in the old 'control center' set, but then off course without wires.
August 13, 201113 yr As long as there are enough classic studded bricks used, I'll be happy. @Erik Leppen: A ship sounds great. The 8839 set is unique, and almost 20 years old. Time for a successor, I would say. I agree with you about the PF as well. It looks like they want to put it in every single big TECHNIC set, nowadays. The tow truck of 2006 was the last flagship set I remember which didn't include any motorized functions.
August 13, 201113 yr I really don't care what it is, as long as it includes one or more of these parts: Longer pneumatic cylinder (preferable with a smaller cross section), remote controlled valve, servo motor, S-PF motor (size of micro motor, but more power), High rpm L-PF-motor, new remote control with variable stick controls that return to zero speed when released, new flex system with adjustable length cables (threaded end pieces?). If I had to choose a model, I would prefer one of the following: - Road Grader with full functionality - Plane with a new flex system and pneumatic - Machine of some kind, with some of the mentioned parts (I really have found memories of the old Control center sets 8094 and 8485 even though I only had the first) - New space shuttle (As 2011 was the last year of the space shuttle and lego has made a lot of models of them, I do not think it to far fetched we would get a new technic one in memory of the shuttles) Edited August 13, 201113 yr by Nazgarot
August 13, 201113 yr I love what i'm hearing from Efferman and Nazgarot! As I said in another similar topic: I´m voting for a fully remote controlled fork lift. Pneumatic lift and tilt from PF driven pump and switch. Drive and steering with PF. It could be any kind of fork lift, and it could be quite complex to build if designed right. Also it would be great fun to play with :) It could be a great set for introducing new parts (like how the bulldozer from 2007 was really simple mechanicly, but was a good platform for releasing thye PF system). Ok so my ideal forklift would have: two new high speed motors (no internal gearing making for lots of cool drive trains), one to drive the compessor and one to drive the front wheels. three new servo motors, one to steer the rear wheels and two to operate the two pneumatic valves. Three section extending forks Pneumatic tilting of the forks using the the standard pneumatic cylinder Pneumatic lifting using THREE longer cylinders (one lifting the forks inside the inner rails using a chain linkage, the other two placed either side of the outer rails to lift the middle and inner rails using chain linkage) Auto pressure cut off (built using exiting cylinder and pf switch. Two new remotes (with two recievers) , giving 4 proportional channels. (drive, steer, forks lift, forks tilt). The compressor would be powered straight from the battery via the auto pressure cut off valve. New parts required are: Longer cylinder (x3), Servo motor (x3), High speed/ungeared (L?) motor (x2) Proportion transmitter (x2), Possibly new reciever if the current one does not support propper proportion control of servos (x2) And NO airtank! I honestly think that circuits powered by motor compessor are better without them. How does all that sound? I imagine the new parts would open lots of doors functionally and give us AFOLs who have lots of Lego already a bigger reason to buy it instead of making it out of the parts we already have. I also think it would be lots of fun to play with, especially if it came with a couple of pallets that you could put mugs and phones and tv remotes on

I really miss this for the mocs i'm designing...
August 13, 201113 yr Oh what I'm forgetting, if it has to have wheels, then let it please be a mobile folding crane. (for those that don't know what I mean, google "Spierings") :) It's something Lego has never done yet lots of boys would love (I think) ('cause let's not forget who Lego actually makes the models for...). August 13, 201113 yr I mentioned it in another theme over a month ago, but no one seemed to notice it: it will be fully rc rock climber. I dont have any more details, but I'm pretty sure it will use new parts from Unimog, like portal axles and those torque joints. I'm also guessing that it will have 1xl/1m motors, which is enough, if you use large speed reduction. Oh, and we will get technic plane.

August 13, 201113 yr My vote goes to a remake of 8868 with all pneumatic valves controlled by PF :D You can do it all ready with nxt motors and a small LA.

August 13, 201113 yr I don't know. I really feel technic has been missing some things. All models are Legofications of real life vehicles, i think Technic could so with more themes like Star Wars. A Technic X-Wing with PF landing gear and S-foils would be brilliant as a Flagship model I'm getting a bit tired of the cars / construction vehicles. A Large fishingtrawler could be nice, or a big Tug, a ship of somekind atleast, it's been a while since there was a Technic ship. Or an aircraft, a large cargoplane with landing gear and rear cargo ramp something like a C-130.
August 13, 201113 yr I like the forklift idea as wheel, to introduce really long pneumatic cylinders. I would like it to be modelled after some smaller forklift running on batteries! No fake engine but PF batterybox and motors for driving. It fullfills the ambition that I think TLG has with their flagship models as of late - that it should be useable in playing. A heavy roadgrader (with front, middle and rear implements) could be fun too. But it would be yellow...
