Etzel Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Yay, it's Ratibor & Ratabor. A winning team! I got lots to catch up on, but I hope to be able to host a quest pretty soon too. One that I've had in plan since February... Quote
swils Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Not every class, every artifact, every item or every weapon has to be amazing. I'll agree on the last three, but I think that every class of the same tier should be balanced with other classes of that tier (and I think that Sandy has done a good job of doing that). If a class goes consistently unused for no reason other than because other classes (again, same tier) are better at the same role, then that class should be brought in line so that it is a viable choice, one that won't effectively be gimping your character. By the way, Jeb, I do hope you don't go changing the wording on any of the specials, and take them as literally as you did when you gave Ad-hoh that +1 level. I'm kind of counting on it, here . Quote
Scorpiox Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 -snip- Yay, Maurice is back! With a friend. I can't wait to see more of him, with his very strong views, he should certainly meet up with Pretzel. Actually, maybe not. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Yay, it's Ratibor & Ratabor. I love that figure, I've seriuosly got to do more with him at some point. Speaking of doing something, how epic-quested-out are people? Is it too early to propose another long quest in a few weeks? Quote
CMP Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Is it too early to propose another long quest in a few weeks? It never is. Just make sure to split it up into 2 parts and then give the people that complete both one of your awesome expert classes. Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) -Capt. John Paul: Signor Bacari was based off of the Genovasians in the Ranger's Apprentice series, was he not? Indeed he was. A few years ago, I loved that series. And he was my favorite character. But I just got bored with him, and I found it hard to play someone so far from my actual personality. Right now I'm more into Historical books. Edited September 12, 2012 by Capt.JohnPaul Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Speaking of doing something, how epic-quested-out are people? Is it too early to propose another long quest in a few weeks? An epic quest sounds good. Just make sure you don't take too many heroes, because when I get around to hosting another quest... well, all my quests end up being epics. Quote
CMP Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Guh. There's too many awesome quests around, I'm never going to be able to put together an Unlimited Quest party. Quote
Flipz Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Doc, WBD don't you dare try to make me choose between your Quests and Wren. I'll probably take a short break after this Quest is over, partly to roleplay a bit in the Hall, and partly so I can be sure I'm around when the final Wren Quest goes up. Also, I've been reading and re-reading the most recent posts in Quest 35...am I the only one who can't figure out Thormanil's plan? Quote
Pandora Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 The Nyx head reminds me of Pandora, and the Pandora face reminds me of Nyx. That's good, right? At least she's my character. I don't, however, have much of a tendency to punch people or set them on fire. Quote

Endgame Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 I'm kinda sorta devising a finale to the Progg saga (with rebalanced enemies and an engaging plotline! ) and it'll be like Quest 4, so... Yeah. Perhaps I should delay it a bit. Quote
Palathadric Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Patience, young ones, patience. From what I can recall I am Obi-Wan Kenobi and you are Anakin Skywalker. Who are you calling a "young one?" Quote
swils Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Ah, but the circle is now complete. Witness my masterful brilliance. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Doc, WBD don't you dare try to make me choose between your Quests and Wren. The next quest I host won't have the Lion Knights as one of the main factions involved, and none of the Lion NPCs will be player-controlled, if that's what you're worried about. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 But that's besides the point, I was expecting the comment of class envy, and of course it's a part of my argument, and yes, it's a complete combination of rogue and barbarian, but that was never my argument to begin with. And while you can it has not changed, gaining insane amounts of gold was kind of the raider's point, as I tried to illustrate in my earlier post. I'm not trying to get you to undo the nerf, Raiders were (clearly ) overpowered. I was simply raising the discussion if my views were correct, hoping to be proved wrong. Swils, I will follow how you plan on doing that, but unless it's because of some obscure item I don't know about, I can't think of anything, really. I've always imagined Raiders at specializing in dealing more damage then all the other rogue-based classes, which by your calculations they clearly do. That is their primary strength, they are the consistant offensive force of the rogues and that is what makes them special. Getting more gold is just a side benefit for the Raider due to the fact that they are rogue-based. Remember the rogue classes still generate more gold than all the 12 other advanced classes. I guess I look at it this way: Rogues = Gold Knights = Defense Barbarians = Offense Rangers = Ranged Offense Mages = Specialty Offense Cerics = Healing Which ever advanced class you choose gives you a secondary strength. Thus: Black Knight = Gold*/Defense Raider = Gold/Offense Assassin = Gold/Ranged Offense Sorcerer = Gold/Specialty Offense Witch = Gold*/Healing *(Yes I know these classes don't have a gold generating ability, but this is how my train of though flows) As you can see there is no Gold/Gold advanced class, because rogues are the only basic class that have that as their strong suit. I'm comfortable leaving Raiders where they are, if they had to change I'd prefer Pie's suggestion. Just remember, Raider or any other rogue-based class, you are still hauling in the gold alot faster than the rest of us. Please take this just as my thoughts on the class and not towards you Scuba, though I am indeed intrigued by how Swils is going to exploit the Raider class. It never is. Just make sure to split it up into 2 parts and then give the people that complete both one of your awesome expert classes. Will do, though the epic is filled with tons of dwarves so I'm not quite sure how I'm going to fit one of the expert classes in, but we'll see. Quote

Scubacarrot Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Speaking of doing something, how epic-quested-out are people? Is it too early to propose another long quest in a few weeks? As long as it's after Quest 44, I would love to go on a quest of yours. No, actually, Sorcerer and Black Knight both deal more. But it does not matter. Quote
Flipz Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 No, actually, Sorcerer and Black Knight both deal more. But it does not matter. I deal more damage than the average Raider? Not really. But as you say, it doesn't matter. You are correct about Black Knight, though; I do think that, since the gold issue has been fixed, the Raider's SHIELD ought to do more damage now, since it is somewhat outclassed by the Black Knight's SHIELD, damage-wise. That or Raiders could be given Counter. Quote

Flipz Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Stop trying to change my damned goldmine before I can swing a pick at it! OK, OK, you've proven your superior skill at interpreting the rules, I'll assume that you've looked things over and found them balanced. Quote
