Zepher Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 It's interesting how we've figured out what classes should carry what/do well with which items/etc. as the game has gone on. CMP, the special explicitly states NEXT ROUND, so even though I kind of had a moral debate about it, I'm leaving it. I would have put it in the next round even if you hadn't been nurtured, so I think that's most fair. It's not my special (it's Rumble Strikes) and of course I'll defer to Sandy's ruling, but for now I think that's how I'm going to leave it, sorry. You guys are still pretty good, and counterstrike should still work, so I think you'll not have a bad round either way. Quote
CMP Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 The reason I think it should change is because that's how the Stunned effect was once worded, it doesn't literally mean the Stunned effect is applied only next round. Remember how that's what everyone thought it did until around Quest 38 or so? Your call, though. Quote

Remember how that's what everyone thought it did until around Quest 38 or so? Was that wording originally in the Stunned effect's description? It doesn't make sense for the 'next Round' part to be in there since Sandy says it was always intended to only affect the very next action even if that action was in the same Round. Did the 'next Round' part get added later by QMs? Quote

Brickdoctor Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 No, apparently it was always meant to be like that, but everyone but Sandy had been running it as 'the enemy cannot act next round', basically. Right, but I was wondering if the "next Round" part of the wording was originally part of the description of Stunned or not. Because if it was, then I would treat this case as a regular Stun and attribute the wording of the Special to a copying of the original wording of the effect (In which case it would be removed by Nurture), not as a case of the QM who created the Special trying to add a sort of mechanical gimmick. Flipz Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 (edited) The wording of Stunned has always been like that, but people assumed 'turn' meant 'round', I think. That's a really eloquent way of putting that. Also, kill the evil janitor! Edited May 22, 2013 by Flipz Quote
Zepher Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 This is why we've got Sandy around. It is as you say. Quote
Sandy Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 The wording of Stunned has always been like that, but people assumed 'turn' meant 'round', I think. Back in the day, people only got one turn per round. That's why the descriptions were inaccurate. Quote
CMP Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Back in the day, people only got one turn per round. That's why the descriptions were inaccurate. Oh, right. I'm thinking of the reasoning it was clarified for enemies, not heroes. Quote
Zepher Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I'm such an idiot. Russel and I keep forgetting about Aura. Quote

Sandy Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 I now really want to see Violetta live, just to see if this could fruition into something beautiful. It would be up to Sandy's discretion, but I really like the idea. Karie being related to Violetta via younger sister, or perhaps Violetta cared for Karie at a young age which lead her to crime makes a bit of sense, and it makes Karie go that much farther into Crush the Cutie and Hero Blue Screen of Death. I can totally agree to Violetta and Karie being sisters who have lost touch with each other. Violetta's birth name is actually Kayla (she also used the name as an alterego in Quest #33), so it all matches. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Back in the day, people only got one turn per round. That's why the descriptions were inaccurate. Oh, that's right, Smelling Salts were introduced by... WBD, right? I forgot that Hastened wasn't one of the original effects. It seems so basic and standard a buff now. Quote
Flipz Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 (edited) And again Arthur surprises me. Didn't think he'd refuse to help just to get his way, but I guess he's that desperate. Interesting... For Violetta's sake, I hope she's unconscious and unable to reply...would make it easier to justify giving her a Potion. Edited May 22, 2013 by Flipz Quote
Flare Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Quest 65-ers need to give the wolpintiger an apple, U'reeve was lying, telling the heroes to give it something bad so that it wouldn't come with them. Oh, that's right, Smelling Salts were introduced by... WBD, right? I forgot that Hastened wasn't one of the original effects. It seems so basic and standard a buff now. Wait really? To think, this all stemmed from the fact that Karie and Kayla have the same hair colour. Didn't you know that all redheads are related? Quote

Just so I can work this through. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Flare, you play the quests you're on and we'll play the quests we're on. I'd actually thought that he was lying from the beginning but Cronk would be too trusting so I let it go. Quote

Rumble Strike Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I think Stunning Strike was taken from Quest#52 so it was in the era of stuns affecting the round they occurred. Probably I took it from one of my earlier Quests and didn't change the wording. Quote
Scorpiox Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 "If it was my choice, I would say we should kill them now, they are dying anyway, but it is not our choice to make. It is the job of the Town Watch." What a lovely cheerful chap Nagure seems to be. "They're dying, best thing to do is finish them off". Quote
Kintobor Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 (edited) If the backdoor party does kill Violetta off (which I'm not against), it would be wise to get away from Karie when she realizes what you guys did, and what her relation to Violetta is, er, I mean, was. Just as a heads up. Edited May 22, 2013 by Kintobor Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Leg, I don't think Sandy's gonna allow a TF gun in Heroica. (If no one else got that, that's OK, it's a webcomic both Legonater and I read. ) Awww. But a TF gun would be so fun! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
UsernameMDM Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Here's to hoping Nagure and Sorrow overrule Arthur. Quote
