For future Rogues' players' easy convenience: 5 Smelling Salts and 5 Nostrums cost 300 Gold even.

...What? No, I'm totally not obsessing over exactly how much I can afford, why would I do that? :look:

Waiting for the reveal where without that "Smelly undead guy" Karie wouldn't exist.:devil:

I still can't believe that that's being considered canon...

Don't be ashamed; it's always a good idea to make stats your highest priority.

Arthur heads somberly towards the Marketplace, but immediately sees Nagure's sign. Well...they WERE useful... "Nagure, how about 250 Gold for those Sticky Gloves? It's what you'd get from Fabian anyway, only you'd be helping me out instead of him."

Don't fall for it, Costy. The whole point of selling to a hero instead of to Fabian is that you can get more from a hero since they're still getting a discount when you raise the resale price.

Oh, come on, I just gave the guy an extra 50 Gold AND forgiven a 200 gold debt! If I could afford to offer more, I would have!

Oh you forgave his debt? I thought you just took it out of his share of the loot.

Initially, yes, but in that last loot division, yes. Poor guy got no good drops, so I figured I'd try and make things easier on him.

Incidentally, between this and my purchase from Galen (someone go poke Fugazi!), I may end up becoming known as the "Glove Mage"...

RPGs don't usually have any penalties for four arms, right? We should do that and see if we can use more than one pair of gloves at a time. I guess they might logically affect, say, Dexterity or Charisma - but they don't even exist in Heroica, so they're perfect dump stats.

Depends on if the gloves in question are an accessory or hand wear. I believe you can only equip one of each category, but I also think Sandy made clear that there would be common sense rules as well.

I would probably add some penalty for having four arms... "Hero cannot concentrate on so many actions and cannot be Hastened"... "Having a pair of gloves only covers half of the hands, so the effect of the gloves is halved. (e.g., Poisoned or Badly Poisoned while using Sterile Gloves deals 1 Damage every two Rounds or 5 Damage each Round, respectively; Counterstrike Gloves deal Damage equal to half the hero's Level; Sticky Gloves only give a 25% increase in Gold)"... Then if you want the whole effect you can't equip another pair of gloves, and you end up paying twice as much.

And there would of course be a couple of those 'common sense' buffs, too... "Hero can wield Twin Longswords and a shield at the same time"...

Oh, and the halved effect rule could also be expanded to, for example, Centaurs trying to use four boots, Hydras trying to use multiple helmets, and so forth.

I'd pass on that. I like the simple rules set we have in place. No need to make Heroica Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.

Can it be changed so we get two accessory slots? I want to wear earrings with my necklace.

Actually, an easy 'Common Sense Rule' would be that if should logically be able to equip more artifacts of the same type, you can go ahead and do it, but you still top out at six artifact slots. Earrings with a necklace? Sure, you should logically be able to use both at the same time, but you use up two of six artifact slots. Hydra wants to wear six helmets? Go ahead, but you've used up all your artifact slots.

I'd say make an item that allows you to have four arms.

Insect Amulet (Allows the user to wear two pairs of gloves. Must be lvl 20 to use. Accessory)

The must be lvl 20 comes from the fact that those extra gloves still count as an artefact.

I'm going to guess this is another part of why Sandy made the rule that Heroes can't be anthropomorphic animals. He didn't want a bunch of octopus Heroes 4x Counterstriking all the enemies to death.

Well then the rule I propose would make all the octopus heroes deal quartered Counterstriking Damage unless they paid quadruple the price for four pairs of gloves.

Right, sorry, Sandy, I'm trying to break your game again.:grin:

Wait, that's a rule? I thought the rule was just no talking animals. Anthro. animal just means a furry, right? :look:

Oh god, what is this forum's obsession with furries! :snicker:

Yes, anthro means talking animals who walk on their legs. Hold on, there's a tvtropes page that'll help...

Ah, here it is, Petting Zoo People!

I don't believe playing anthro's is the problem, as a were-wolf or a were-lion is fine. I think playing a were-octopus simply for the x4 benefit is the problem, or a talking dragon.

I think it's just DLL's obsession. :poke:

Well, I know characters have requested to play talking bats before, and I think someone wanted to be a straight-up talking dog, and they've been refused. I should have said anthropohorphIZED, not anthropomorphIC.

Ah, right. I thought that's what it meant. I thought the ruling was no "funny animals" because werepeople in this universe are basically Petting Zoo People.

Maybe... Hinckley certainly has a thing for them too though.

Right. I remember that.
