Scorpiox Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 OOC: No, that's good enough. :-D With tears in her eyes, Ameli watched as her hero left without a word. All that needed to be said was done so in the kiss. All the heroes have now left the Szalinski property and are back on the streets of Eubric. [ EPILOGUE ] The Maa'ri returned to their home and contemplated seeking the Hall's assistance in the rescue of their lost family. Moranis continued to develop his inventions and drew the attention of the other Eubric houses... Oliveri began secretly training on his own with daggers and swords hoping to one day join the Hall. Nico continued to cry for no reason. Thanks to the party shoving oatmeal cookie pie after oatmeal cookie pie down the gnomeling's throat, young Nico's sugary treat addiction exploded exponentially. He became morbidly obese which led to his father creating the Traversing Round Eubric At your Domicile Mill (T.R.E.A.D. Mill), name still in the works. In the coming months, Ameli was no longer able to hide her pregnant belly. The Szalinski parents hid her away until the baby was born. Everyone was shocked when momma Szalinski came out with the baby. They were all surprised further when she came out with a second child. Ameli had twins! The End? Thanks a lot for letting me on the great quest I enjoyed it very much. Why the unusual children? Haldor is neither Troll nor does he have mutatedly large eyes! Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Why the unusual children? Haldor is neither Troll nor does he have mutatedly large eyes! I'd ask for a paternity test, Haldor. That card she gave you may have been slightly used. Quote

Scorpiox Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) Nooooooo! Not the invasion of blue translucent butlers! And it appears Nur and Skrall found Ameli first! Edited December 1, 2011 by Scorpiox Quote
K-Nut Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Nooooooo! Not the invasion of blue translucent butlers! "I take great offense to this." Hey, get back to the hall! Althior's supposed to be the one breaking down the fourth wall! "Fine!" Few! *awkwardsilence* What are you looking at? Quote
Sandy Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Again, sorry for being absent these past few days, but I'm back on track now. Since two players have reached Level 15, a new topic will open up. Peppy and Masked Builder, please look forward to entering the Heroica Training Room very soon! Oh, and my two quests will continue soon too. Sometimes I just wish there were more hours in the day... Quote

Sandy Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 Of course EB decided to go down the minute I was about to send the new topic. Anyway, the Training Room up now! It should've been up six hours ago, but I had to sleep so I could not wait for EB to come up again. Quote
Tamamono Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Wow, those classes look great, Sandy! I can't wait to reach Level 15! I have one question, though. If I reach Level 15 before Quest 16 ends, will I have to wait to get back to Eubric before I can choose an advanced class? Quote

Brickdoctor Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Love all the new abilities and powers. Now hurry up with the Quest so I can make Level 15! Quote
swils Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Advanced classes look great, Sandy! Quite a significant step up in power from the Basic 6, though, so future QM's will have to give special consideration to that. Looking forward to see how these play out Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Wow. They're all so very cool. I think Cronk makes the most sense as a Paladin but I think he'll try Mystic knight and Warden at some point as well. Quote
Zepher Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Looks awesome Sandy! I'm so so so excited. Shields are still effective for all knight classes, right? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Will Barbarians, Rangers, Rogues, and Clerics need to buy gems or shields when upgrading to Mage and Knight variants, or is there a starter item? (the way basic Mages start out with one gem and basic Knights start out with a shield SP:2) Quote
CMP Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Wow. Thank god for the ability to switch out classes between quests...it'll be waaaay too hard to just pick one and stick with it. But aren't there already 6 veterans? How is Copper Fox one of them? Kind of a pointless question, but still, just curious.... Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 But aren't there already 6 veterans? How is Copper Fox one of them? Kind of a pointless question, but still, just curious.... The six current Veterans, heads of Heroica. The six originals are all dead or missing. Quote

swils Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I just re-read everything with the goal of comparing them rather than just absorbing the new stats... I've got a few concerns, I guess? Questions? Eh, concerns. Health: Aside from the flat health bonuses, there isn't much differentiation. At, say, level 20, the health difference between a Paladin (tankier) and an Assassin (archetypically glass-cannon) likely won't be more than a single hit from any enemy that the party is likely to face at that time. Any consideration for retroactive +HP/level benefits while playing a class that is designed to be more of a damage soak? From all the quests so far, it hasn't seemed like class has been as important to survival as level has. Heck, in Q4, Tomas could have done all the "tanking" at the top of the turn-order almost as well as Leo or I could have, due to his HP pool. Maybe I'm touching on more of a game-wide pattern, than just the class: Healing in-battle hasn't seemed to have much of a use so far. *Someone* is going to take the damage, and it'll get healed up after the battle. I think giving classes that are designed towards being at the top of the turn order a significantly expanded health pool would enable QMs to design more challenging encounters where healing will actually matter and be important, and you can't just put the LX+1 (archetypically squishy class) up front anymore. Doesn't seem right that an Assassin, with a 1/6 chance to kill most enemies, can take almost as many hits as a class designed to absorb damage and support the team. Damage or Survivability, not both. That brings me to my next point: Assassins' usefulness will be made-or-broken by QM encounter design. Get lucky rolls and everything falls over dead at your feet. But just slap "Immunity to Sudden Death" on a creature, and Assassins lose a lot of their flavor. This is one that I think only time will tell. I'm sure I had other thoughts, but I've forgotten them at the moment. Ah well, *I* look forward to hitting 15 eventually, and training Thormanil in the ways of the Raider Quote

I agree. I think in Quest 4, I didn't know how to balance enemies that well, and that allowed Tammo to make the best use of his Ether at the end of each battle. I expect that's something that will improve only with the QMs' hands-on experience. Quote
Kadabra Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 As an aeromancer I'm limiting Arasmyth to Wind and Lightning for spells, but when he becomes an Evoker, I think he'll just get a Wind spirit companion, just for the added challenge. And I know Althior's gonna be an Evoker too... After all, how could we pass up the chance to see Finnegan in battle?! Quote

I expect that's something that will improve only with the QMs' hands-on experience. I hope I didn't come off as though I was picking on your quest, heh. While I think that QM experience will play a part in it, I also think that the problem stems from flat HP scaling across classes. In keeping the game simple, it might be *too* simple. A level 1 knight will have X more health than a level 1 rogue. A level 14.5 knight will still have X more health than a level 14.5 rogue. At level 1, that's a huge difference. At level 14, it's still a noticeable difference. In the future, though? That flat difference is going to taper off into obscurity, and (using universal terms here), DPS classes will be able to take a hit just as well as Tanks. That said, I think the Warden is a huge step in the right direction, and love the design behind it Quote
