Wedge09 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 (edited) Anyone is interested in the Duplovian Helmet? I can anticipate the 160 gold for one. I am very sorry to the questies of 64, especially -obelix- who was very considerate. I won't do that again. Palathadric Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Could you remind me what the strength of the Dulpovian Helmet is. I can't seem to load the page. Quote
Tachyon Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 160 Gold is a good deal for such a Broken Item Quote
Vash the Stampede Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 160 Gold is a good deal for such a Broken Item I'd say it's a good deal however I'd imagine it also makes you immune to clerical healing which would significantly lower its usefulness in a tough battle. Quote

Immunity to Magic doesn't affect healing, it specifically says magical attacks. Although that is an interesting artifact modifier... Edited June 20, 2013 by CallMePie Quote

Actually it says attacks that consume ether and healing consumes ether. (Most of the time) I know healing isn't considered attacking but logically it would nullify healing. Quote

Wedge09 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Could you remind me what the strength of the Dulpovian Helmet is. I can't seem to load the page. Duplovian Helmet of the Guard: SP: 2 and Immunity to Magic. It could be that prevents healing, but with so few healer it could be useful: when you have in the party a helaer you disequip it and use another item, when you haven't healers in the party you equip the Helmet. Pyrovisionary Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 (edited) Brickington, don't you worry about not being to inactive! You've been doing fine. But I would like sarge to interact with Brickington more! Which Is why I'm going to make the effort and try. After all, we've been on two quests together! Edited June 20, 2013 by Pyrovisionary Quote
Brickington Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 As Thalion says, real life is more important that roleplaying and stats Thanks for understanding! No, real life is more important than roleplaying. Stats are more important than real life. That's an interesting way to put it. Brickington, don't you worry about not being to inactive! You've been doing fine. But I would like sarge to interact with Brickington more! Which Is why I'm going to make the effort and try. After all, we've been on two quests together! I will try to as well. I believe we are quite done with quest 64, so after some roleplaying we can go to the Hall. Quote
Wedge09 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 No, real life is more important than roleplaying. Stats are more important than real life. I had no doubt that you would have said that Quote
The Legonater Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Duplovian Helmet of the Guard: SP: 2 and Immunity to Magic. I actually really like this. It begins to balance an object that was pretty OP to begin with. Quote
-obelix- Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I see no problem with helmet stopping the healing as action, healing can easily be interpreted as "attack that consumes ether", seeing how it can miss, hit less or more. Quote
Flipz Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I'm fine with that as well. Though I do think it should be directly noted on the helmet itself--I DON'T like the idea of enemies being unaffected by healing--if some inexperienced QM slaps "immune to Magic" on an undead, they'd instantly create an unbeatable enemy. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I agree, immunity to healing would balance it out better. Immune to Magic isn't overpowered in itself, but when the helmets are being sold and there's no limit... I know there's been at least one Immune to Magic item before, but it was a boss drop and there's only one of it. (Robe of Spell Resistance, or something like that -- the one I dropped from Lord Keveak in Quest 4. I think ADHO has it.) Quote
-obelix- Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 (edited) Yup, I updated Thalion's stats page and it looks really nice and more balanced. Duplovian Helmet of the Guard (SP:2, Immune to Magic and Healing) Edited June 20, 2013 by -obelix- Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 (edited) I'm happy to finally be Lvl 15! Well, 16 but that's even better! I have a good plan coming soon, I just have to wait till a few trades get done. I hope that a certain two quests don't drag on. As good quests as they may be. JimBee Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I think the helmet has been discussed in here before, but the way I read the "immune to Magic" is immune to any attacks that consume ether. Enemies that use ether are fairly uncommon. I definitely do not read it as "immune to all elements". That would be way OP and unfair. Sound about right? Quote
Flipz Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Immune to Magic - The target does not take damage from elemental attacks or attacks that consume Ether. To be fair, elemental attacks are relatively uncommon as well--in fact, I think non-elemental Ether-using attacks are a lot more common than elemental ones (see Quests 48 and 53, for example). Quote

Well then I totally agree that the helmet is broken. Even though The Legonater made the item, he, I, and Scuba all spent about 900 gold to obtain the gems and imbue them to make us immune. But I guess we're not the only ones who that has happened to (perma-poisoned weapons, high SP for non-Knights...) Quote
