Scubacarrot Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Who do you think is stronger? Nyx, Arthur, Alexis. From the top of my head. It's my belief that QMs are unofficially in charge of balancing out the game. Sandy does a good job with brushing up the rules every now and then, but I think QMs take on the bulk of balancing out the quests between classes and abilities. Retroactive? Even though I have only completed one quest, I technically am a QM, so I can give my opinions regarding balance, I think. And changes should never be implemented retroactively. Quote
The Legonater Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 In Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S.Lewis, Eustace is transformed from boy to dragon. Ecatsue is Eustace backwards... Oh, nice reference, WBD. I noticed the Ecatsue/Eustace connection, but didn't think about his being the dragon. I too had noticed the connection, and had even looked up the name to see if it was a subtle reference to anything. I know Dawn Treader was listed, and I know I've read the book, but it still slipped by me. Quote

Peppermint_M Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 You know, I was being serious when I posted in the hall! Tesni appreciates some quiet after she's back from a quest and if newbies are going to make a ruckus she'll sort them out... Quote
Scorpiox Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Despite her earlier warning, it seemed Tesni would need to take some action. The landlady was busy and a hall such as Heroica had no need for any sort of guard. With a sigh she approaced the rookie from behind and brought her balled fist down onto his head with a clunk. The action left him out cold on the floor. With a nod to onlookers and a job done hand clap she sat down and finished off her latest round. (Moderator Note: Any more of that, roleplay or not, and you'll be cooling your heels elsewhere.) I don'y understand... are you and Tesni prohibiting roleplay you don't like in the hall? Quote

Zepher Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I think she was referring to the childish way in which it was posted. Don't know if I agree with the policing either, but I at least understand that it's more a board issue than a personal taste. Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 To be honest, the first time Tesni told him to stop, he wasn't really doing anything. And really, we've had worse stuff in the Hall than that. Quote

Personal taste mixing with moderator powers is the absolute last thing we need. The post doesn't strike me as anything out of the ordinary, I have no idea why Peppermint decided to object in this way. Is this how we welcome a new player into the game, by threatening them? Quote
Peppermint_M Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 A loong long time ago when we were learning the look and feel it would be left to us all learning, someone signing in and dropping that looks like something we the staff would keep our eye on for potential age infractions. There is being a roleplay newbie/heroica newbie and then there is that... Quote
Pandora Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 As a brief note, Heroica is part of Eurobricks, and it is subject to the same moderation as the rest of the site. Some leniency is allowed, but that leniency is not to be abused or taken for granted. Sorry to sound like so serious, but it's a fact, and you have seen moderators step in here before, and I expect you shall again. Pandora Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Someone round or someone around. I guess that's British English vs American English. Anyway, we should really now focus on discussing Heroica and its rules... Quote

Palathadric Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I will restrain myself from attempting to rekindle the debate about the Overkill Gloves, but I certainly would support a nerf. Sure rogues may be able to make a ton more money in battle, but they aren't incredibly strong in battle so that kind of counters things. However, the overkill gloves can provide massive amounts of gold for classes that are more power-focused than gold-earning, thus certainly providing any imbalance. But Arthur has them and not Pretzel so ultimately it doesn't really effect me tremendously whether they are nerfed or not. I just hope people won't keep attempting to make such artifacts in the future. Just my thoughts. Quote

Palathadric Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Wait, is it true that the Progg Invasion was larger than the Orcish Invasion ? No. It took only a few heroes to defeat the Progg invasion, it took whole armies not to mention a ton of heroes to overthrow the orc invasion. Of course, the heroes didn't fight many of the proggs, but still...orcish invasion definitely bigger, especially considering that it's being talked about centuries after it occurred, I think. The progg invasion would be forgotten if the heroes on it or on the first quest wouldn't bring it up." Quote

Remember, all it takes is a well-placed *Immunity to Fragile!* to cut their gold in overkill in half, essentially. What I'm left wondering is: Why weren't there any riots when artifacts like the Rubber Band came into play? The progg invasion would be forgotten if the heroes on it or on the first quest wouldn't bring it up." I'm going to references the Progg Invasion throughout all of my quests - since, besides possibly my swansong quest (Currently going under the title of "Eternal Reaper" ) it'll be the biggest quest I've ever hosted. Palathadric Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 If they have at least four undead, yeah. Wow! Pretzel has to kill Althior. *oh* Luckily, besides those damned Chromoids (grr.) I kept his earning rather tame. Remember, all it takes is a well-placed *Immunity to Fragile!* to cut their gold in overkill in half, essentially. What I'm left wondering is: Why weren't there any riots when artifacts like the Rubber Band came into play? Because there were artifacts like the Yeti Fur Coat that came into play at the same time. I still don't think enemies should be balanced specifically around such artifacts. Quote

Not like immunity to Fragile is null in all situations without Overkill gloves. Edited June 30, 2013 by Endgame Quote
Palathadric Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 (edited) Sorry, I don't catch the joke. Let me rather say, I don't understand what you're referring to. Edited June 30, 2013 by Palathadric Quote
Endgame Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Because such powerful artifacts were all intoruced at the same time, they went largely unnoticed. Thus, the solution is to equip every hero with a pair of overkill gloves! (Not really.) Quote
