Zepher Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Okay. Can you let me know of any changes you make, so I can edit my copy instead of copying and editing yours again? Thanks. Absolutely. I'm sorry, I meant to get around to it and never did. My quest, I'm very sorry, it is turning into an extended family weekend unexpectedly. I think that updates are still coming your way today, but I know we're well over the 24 hour mark, which I always hate to do to others. Just a few more hours. Quote
Scorpiox Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 It'll be interesting to see, that's for sure. I even built a dragon for him (we were originally going to train together), but whether or not it's useable depends on the dragon Sandy creates for him (since my build is too big to be the hatchling). I don't think that Sandy will create Swils' dragon for him, as he hasn't done such a thing for Paladin angels (except from Cronk's) and Evoker summons. And anyway, a situation in which a completely random baby dragon turning up in the training room at the instant Thormanil becomes dragoon and befriends him instantly would be... disappointing. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Obviously, the way this works is that the Shadeaux have through their shadowy connections Charis got hold of a limited number (not actually limited) of expensive and rare dragon eggs from Charis' neighbour Dastan. Count Shadeaux, a former Dragoon, and probably acquintance of the Dragonlord has decided to give eggs to the Heroes he trust the most, knowing their value and potential power. When an egg is given to a hero, the hero can then do with it what he or she wishes, heat it, whisper to it, or just crack it open for an instant personality-void dragon. And wouldn't the hatchlings just be this piece? Or something like that size? By the way, can we see a list of Arthur's character arcs/traits whatever you'd call it? No offense, Flipz, but Arthur is a relative of one of the Ziegfrieds, cannibal, chaos fanatic, repentant law enforcer, soon to be dragoon, a lion knight and probably a dozen more other things that each could fill a character in their own right. My advice would be to stick with something, don't try to do too much. It's always iffy when you get ideas that would be really cool to roleplay, but just wouldn't fit your character. What you shouldn't do in such a situation is try and make it fit, but rather save it for something else. Just my opinion. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I will be using a Norbert dragon for my hatchling. I have no idea what you use in between, but I already have ideas for my adult dragon. Trying not to use any of the fantasy era dragons. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Did Flipz just wait until after he'd been accepted into a quest and was supposed to confirm and then change classes? This completely changes the party balance I was anticipating and shooting for. Quote
Flipz Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Oh, dear--I had been planning to switch to Mystic Knight since before the end of 70--I thought you knew. I'll switch back if it's a problem, though I'll have to completely redo my consumable purchases. Quote

I don't think party balance will be that huge of an issue in this quest no matter what heroes are on it. (After all, I did put a Level 1 hero in your party.) It's less battle-focused, somewhat more like Quest 4, and I plan to include a few of those short and sweet, possibly-1-Round battles. (I was moreso annoyed that you waited so long -- especially since you now say that you were planning to do it all along -- so I'd already done your stats for a Sorcerer.) Quote
Flipz Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Music for Arthur's Training: By the way, can we see a list of Arthur's character arcs/traits whatever you'd call it? What you shouldn't do in such a situation is try and make it fit, but rather save it for something else. Just my opinion. Arthur develops over time. Yes, he does have a lot of different connections, but they rise and fade in importance in his life. Everything he's a part of is directly tied to one of the Quests or events he's been on, though--and I've specifically filled in his background now, which means things can't really be written into his backstory anymore. If you'd like a list: *Engineering expertise (side-effect of my own abilities) (Q17) *Ties to Knyghton and the Lion Knights (Q17, Q31) *Ties to Dastan (Q31) *Ties to Chaos (Q31, Q38, Q53) *Connection to the Spirit Pools and Zeigfrieds through Valentine Zeigfried (Q38, though note that Arthur is unaware of the source) *Connection to the Ji Pei (via Quest/Reputation) (Q51, also plays on the engineering skills from Q17) *Connection to Byblos (plays on Chaos, Dastan, and character in general) *Connection to Town Watch/Wolfgang conflict (post-Q53, Q66, Q70) Arthur also has connections to many other Heroes, and thus ties indirectly to some of their stories through them. No, it's okay. I didn't know, but I can work with it. I don't think party balance will be that huge of an issue in this quest no matter what heroes are on it. (I was moreso annoyed that you waited so long -- especially since you now say that you were planning to do it all along -- so I'd already done your stats for a Sorcerer.) Yeah, it may have gotten lost amongst the big gold-nerf discussion. (Though I could have sworn I mentioned it when I was still trying to buy your shield.) I apparently fail at foreshadowing, though. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Though I could have sworn I mentioned it when I was still trying to buy your shield. I must've missed it, then; I just assumed you were buying it for Skirmisher and Dragoon. Either way, it looks like it doesn't actually take that much change to go from Sorcerer to Mystic Knight, especially with the stat breakdown already done the way I wanted it for my heroes' stats, so no harm done.Making sure you see this QM Note: Flipz, I updated your stats to Mystic Knight and with your purchases. You had an open artifact slot so I assumed that you wanted to equip the Duke's Coat of Arms. You also already had a Bedroll in your inventory, but I added a second since I didn't know what you wanted it for. Quote
Flipz Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Good lord, how do you people all manage to handle work AND Heroica like you do?! I'm only working for family, and I STILL end up way behind everyone else here! Quote
swils Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 (edited) I don't think that Sandy will create Swils' dragon for him, as he hasn't done such a thing for Paladin angels (except from Cronk's) and Evoker summons. Plus, I've at least sort of RP'ed where the hatchling has come from -- The Shadeaux left a little 'thank you' gift with the Fox to give to Thormy, probably along the lines of what Scuba has suggested. For roleplay decisions... "Oooh, a dragon. Dragon, fetch! Dragon, burninate! Good dragon!" Is that adequate? Edited July 23, 2013 by swils Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 For roleplay decisions... "Oooh, a dragon. Dragon, fetch! Dragon, burninate! Good dragon!" Is that adequate? How about,"I am now a Dragoon, so there is my dragon. My dragon already knows how to do these things because they're defined in his stat sheet. Good day, Master Fox." Quote

The Legonater Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Dragon, burninate! This. Someone absolutely needs to name their dragon Trogdor now. Quote
Flipz Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 This. Someone absolutely needs to name their dragon Trogdor now. As long as some person names their dragon Toothless, I will be very happy. Well, I guess Norbert would be okay as well, but still. Quote
Flipz Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 So I've been re-reading Quest 4 since I got done working. It turns out, Brickdoctor actually created the first Lucky enemies in Heroica. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 It turns out, Brickdoctor actually created the first Lucky enemies in Heroica. I should reread that in detail some time; people like you and Zeph know more about it than I do. Quote
Cutcobra Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I don't know about you guys but if I'm going dragoon I'm naming my dragon Handsome... so it can be The Handsome Dragon... and Heckz could become Handsome Heckz A.K.A. a douche. Quote
Flipz Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I should reread that in detail some time; people like you and Zeph know more about it than I do. Nice touch, having Lord Calabor (Q31) being the Quartermaster from the fight in the tents from Quest 4. Other thoughts: *The stores in Bric'lin suck. (Might want to change that if it's still supposed to represent the site it did in Q4... ) *R'klif had very little of interest last time. *Mopag was completely useless. *We really need to visit Brobric. *We really REALLY need to investigate Brobric Pass. *Despite everything, we have yet to fight the terrifying swilsbear. Also, is Lady Ahviyalin at all related to the unnamed female Elf we last saw here in R'klif discussing things in the Red House with Keveak and Davril? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 *The stores in Bric'lin suck. (Might want to change that if it's still supposed to represent the site it did in Q4... ) At that time, the store in Bric'lin was awesome. That was also where SP-providing artifacts were introduced. (So yes, you can blame me for that, too. ) *R'klif had very little of interest last time. Which is why you get to go back there! *Mopag was completely useless. MOCpages is pretty much completely useless. *We really need to visit Brobric. You get to go there, too! (But not to explore, sorry.) *We really REALLY need to investigate Brobric Pass. I told swils what was there one time. It was a mine overrun by the snow with Gold Bars and Mythril Chunks. (This was before Mythril Shards were introduced.) *Despite everything, we have yet to fight the terrifying swilsbear. I have considered making heroes do it multiple times, but I always end up cutting it out because it seems too much like an unnecessary and childish joke of a reference. Also, is Lady Ahviyalin at all related to the unnamed female Elf we last saw here in R'klif discussing things in the Red House with Keveak and Davril? We'll get to that soon enough. Quote
Scorpiox Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 (edited) Au contraire, I asked him to do that very thing and he graciously agreed! Well, that's one way of doing it I suppose. It's more of a Docken-esque explanation that what I was expecting, but hey, it's your roleplay choice. Edited July 21, 2013 by Scorpiox Quote
Flare Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 (edited) At that time, the store in Bric'lin was awesome. That was also where SP-providing artifacts were introduced. (So yes, you can blame me for that, too. ) Yes, at the time it was a pretty nifty place. Anyways, because of Q77 I just read the entirety of Q4 again, and I have to say it was really epic to read it again. Although I found a battle where you treated Benji's roll of 4 as a miss and not an aim I'm looking forward to the return of BD quests with Q77 --- How much is a full piece of mythril actually worth? 2002 gold seems a bit steep, especially considering the jacked up prices of the rest of Sham's items. Kintobor Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Or Spike. Dear Lego, Produce a purple dragon in an upcoming set. Now. Your faithful customer, Kintobor I don't know about you guys but if I'm going dragoon I'm naming my dragon Handsome... so it can be The Handsome Dragon... and Heckz could become Handsome Heckz A.K.A. a douche. You also need a diamond pony. I'm curious to see where 77 goes. Should be interesting seeing what's happened since Quest 4. Quote
LordoftheNoobs Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 A diamond pony that sews. And has a horn. And goes "DAAAHLIIING". Quote
