CMP Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 According to my calculations, in Quest 75, after we defeat this huge mob of enemies (thats hoping that we survive ) there are still 20 undefeated stars of destiny. Which means Sandy probably saved the best for last... (you sneaky devil ). I think you mean 10. Quote
Endgame Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Unfortunately, the Krakentecales still seem a bit futile, since Skrall can just one shot the head and take the entire best down with it. Quote
Flare Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I think you mean 10. I don't think so. If there are 108 overall. There are 26 in this battle. And there were 62 killed in the previous quest. So 108-26-62=20 villains remaining Unfortunately, the Krakentecales still seem a bit futile, since Skrall can just one shot the head and take the entire best down with it. Lets just make the Kraken lucky, inspired, and hastened, and favor ogres That would even the battle a bit! Quote

Alright, I suppose that the leader of the stars and his 9 best bodyguards are awaiting us if we defeat this horde. Quote
Scorpiox Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Just to clarify: Sandy, we will be getting a full list of the 108 stars complete with pictures, names and biographies after this quest, right? Quote

It seems I omitted one of the Stars that got slain during Quest#50 from the final post collage. The Fair-skinned Gentleman was missing, so the number of already-dead Stars is 73 (the Flagbearer not counted), and currently there are 26 Stars being battled, so that leaves 9 more at large. Quote

My money's on the remaining seven elemental generals, some sort of ridiculously strong second-in-command, and the leader. I have a sneaking suspicion the leader and the second are the two aoi Jun ran into for some reason. Guess we'll see. Quote

UsernameMDM Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Drops: Crown of the Sea Kings (Gives the wearer +20 SP, +20 max. health and +20 max. ether when fighting at a sea, lake or river; headwear) Call me critical, but I am not in favor of this drop. It's either really powerful or completely useless. I also do not like the fact that terrain is taken into account. It's just another 'rule' that can be used to complicate the game. I would rather the item give +10s and add damage or immunities to Aquatic. Quote

It's the kind of artifact you shouldn't have equipped all the time, but rather used whenever applicable. It's not to meant to be worn at all times, then yes, it would be completely useless. Quote

But for defeating a threshold monster, it should be a trophy, something that can be used all the time, just like the Obsidian Dragon's lance. There are no drawbacks to it. Since the dragon's lance gives a bonus against enemies with dragon in their name, then instead of aquatic immunities, why not a bonus to aquatic? Edited July 26, 2013 by UsernameMDM Quote
Kintobor Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I'm fine with it, as long as these kind of items don't become the norm. I created an item that was more effective at night, a sword if I recall, but I haven't implemented it yet. It's meant to be dead weight if the conditions aren't right, so I'm fine with it. As well, the drawback with the lance is that it's only really effective against dragons, otherwise it's just a plain old lance. Quote

There are no drawbacks to it. No drawbacks, yeah, but it'd be insanely overpowered. I liked the idea behind this item to be honest. It's very powerful, but only in the right conditions. Waterbrick Down Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) The drop is very fitting considering the monster, but I agree with MDM that it is very situational/bordering on lack-luster when compared to the dragon lance. Also note Kintobor, that the Dragon Lance was WP 20. But that's how the cookie crumbles, I guess. Crystal Titan next, anyone? Edited July 26, 2013 by Waterbrick Down Quote
Endgame Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Wait, do seas of lava activate the crown? I legitimately have a boss fight planned (Not for Fading Spark) that takes place in one. Quote

YUP! Wait, do seas of lava activate the crown? I legitimately have a boss fight planned (Not for Fading Spark) that takes place in one. See what I mean!!! I would really like this item to be dealt with before it is handed out IF anything about it is changed. What about +5s to the mentioned stats as a base, but bumps up to +10 or +20 when fighting/targeting Aquatics? Quote

I don't think the argument is so much about it being so powerful, in that we'd rather prefer a less powerful item that was less situational, like the Dragon Spear, very powerful in certain situations, but still a good weapon when not in that situation. It's Sandy's drop though, and it should stay how it is in my opinion. Just a suggestion for future QM's when designing loot drops though, flexibility with less power is much more rewarding than insane power with limited use. Quote

UsernameMDM Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I just don't really care for the use of terrain when accounting for bonuses/uses. Will all battle now have terrain types/tags? If so, what are they going to be? It's just another layer that I can see going crazy. Common sense rule. I think it's fairly clear what Sandy meant when saying "sea". Not everyone has common sense or a shared definition of it. Quote

I can't see this being any kind of a problem in reality, to be honest. If a QM or hero finds themself in a situation in which they are unable to recognise the 'sea', a 'lake' or a 'river' - something has gone very, very, wrong. Quote

Well Kint confessed to making an item that is usable at night. I am really just trying to stop the train before it gets out of the station on this issue. Quote
