CMP Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Well Kint confessed to making an item that is usable at night. I am really just trying to stop the train before it gets out of the station on this issue. What issue? People should be able to recognize when it's night, too. But honestly, I can see where you're coming from, and I doubt they'll become as commonplace as you think. Conditional items are fun and on occasion very, very useful, but I don't think QMs are going to start preferring them to regular artifacts. Quote

I am really just trying to stop the train before it gets out of the station on this issue. It was before this discussion came up though. The item in question that I'm working on would only get a +3 WP boost, and it's starting WP would be somewhere along the lines of 4 or 5. It's not showing up in As Thick As Thieves, but it could be later on depending on how this discussion goes. Quote
Endgame Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Honestly, I'm not a fan of terrain based items at all, but as long as someone doesn't make "WP doubles when the temperature is cold", I'm happy. Quote

UsernameMDM Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) I am not meaning to rant, I really just like keeping the mechanics of this game simple. Adding conditions outside of elemental types just adds another layer that I can see getting out of hand. Isn't there a weapon that grants bonuses when on a ship? On a ship, out to sea, at night, with a slight breeze, in the southwestern hemisphere, on an empty stomach, wearing something red... Edited July 26, 2013 by UsernameMDM Quote

UsernameMDM Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Now I want to make weapon with +60000 WP on the third Thursday of every other month during a Leap Year. That only works for the 7th son of the 7th son born on the 7th day of the 7th week of the 7th year? Quote
CMP Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Adding conditions outside of elemental types just adds another layer that I can see getting out of hand. Huh? It's not adding an entire mechanic. These are just one-off items. It wouldn't be very smart of QMs to have too many, else they'd just never get used. Quote

UsernameMDM Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 The Septisabre. Deals double damage when fighting the Septopus! Quote
Endgame Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 What about, WP doubles when fighting on a roof? ~Insectoid Aristocrat Yeah, perfect regret would just smash the roof and force the party into the top floor instead, sorry. Speaking of weapons: Level-locked weapons. We need 'em. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 What would people think about more untradable items(weapons, artifacts), kind of like how the Zoot weapons aren't tradable. Quote

We need 'em. As in weapons that can only be used at a certain level? Yeah, I can see that to a degree. I think the issue is we need more weapons designed for specific advanced classes, maybe? What would people think about more untradable items(weapons, artifacts), kind of like how the Zoot weapons aren't tradable. I don't know if I agree with this. Certain times, yes I can see it working well. Other times, the fun of the game is trading weapons and trying to obtain loot through trades. I would love to see more role playing related items myself, like the Trickster's Mask items, but that's just me. Quote

Next we'll be LFG 2 pwn some raids 4 tier 7 weps. I like the weapon versatility as it is now. I think the categories being locked only by type is enough. Quote
Scorpiox Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Yeah.... I made the Fishstick. Sorry. Why is it that the name of the weapon never ceases to make me hysterical? Too close to MMO territory for my liking. Next we'll be LFG 2 pwn some raids 4 tier 7 weps. Nice sentence you got there, Pie. Someone needs to rush forward those changes so we can all start talking like this ASAP. Quote

PsyKater Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 The big drawback is that you can have bad luck and never fight at a Sea. Amma never did until now, I think. Quote
Zepher Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Terrain based weapons have been around since we all went to Strivvi. It's not really a huge issue, and considering this is only the second time they've appeared at all, they haven't really become "common-place". As for locked weapons/artifacts - I feel divided. I created quite a few, but have stopped since then (the final loot of 68 was originally going to be locked, but I felt that too many people would end up with useless stuff). Quote
PsyKater Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Louis inspects the questboard. He sees that quest #78 is for heroes preferably over level 15, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Louis signs up for Quest #78. Just as a heads up: Your PC cant be at two places at the same time (arena and Hall). So you'd have to wait until you are back at the Hall to sign up. Quote

Kintobor Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 PsyKater clearly said you CAN be at two places at once, which you can't because there are not two of you. OR IS THERE?!? Quote
